It's possible to be rebellious in a postive way that is obstinately defiant of authority or restraint (I sort of meant "free" from the expectations of others )

I think the world is becoming increasingly tabloid in style, and I can relate to what you mean about some threads in Skunkworks as well as the Gray Area. I just like the Conspiracty Chicks and understand that they are trying to do something to better ATS. You can't tell this now with some of the upgrades, but Asala was the first person I put on my friends list more than 5 years ago, so she was my first ATS friend, and I am loyal and supportive to friends and their endeavors.

Honestly, what is your opinion of the aesthetic presentation of the Conspiracy Chicks, even of the name - is the name Conspiracy Chicks respectful of women?

What's in a name? If it does not offend them, then I don't know if I should be offended on their behalf. I'm thinking they had some choice in the matter. And watching the progression of the show, I think it has potential to be something good for the ATS community, and I already think it is a positive force that is evolving project. There is more member participation with interviews in recent shows, and on scene pictures, video, and eyewitness reports/interviews. I think it is more a grass roots way of spreading information amongst a diverse group usually seperated by geographical locations, but more down to Earth than the "MSM" (Mind Systems Manipulators) of the Main Stream Media. I also think the Conspiracy Chicks Dudes (Like Joe / ATSmediaPro) are listening to and applying suggestions. It's not like they are not trying to work with the ATS community, they are incorporating suggestions, and I like that too. Reading through the threads for previous episodes, and then watching the later ones, it is apparent they are taking advice that they can accommodate.

I have my moments, but smart is relative. I'm just as much a student, if not more, than I am a teacher. The only thing I am really qualified to teach is fire sciences, and firefighter stuff. I picked this screen name mostly because the initials are E.T., which I thought was appropriate for ATS, and "teacher" to me just means someone who shares information.

That's a good question, not sure what I get if I win, other than a thing on my avatar that says debate champion, maybe some points. What I'm really hoping for is a good parking place at ATS headquarters for a month Anyways, thanks for wishing me luck. I don't know if I will win, and looking at some of the competition it looks to be some good match ups. What I really like about it is that we have no idea what we are debating, or what side of the arguement, both are assigned randomly a day before we have to post our first posts. Should be a learning experience, hopefully I win at least one or two debates

If you want to debate me smashing, you seem more linguistically adept than myself, don't think I'll win but I'll try my best and say what's in my head and heart as I have always done here (for good or ill). I hope you've the altruistic cognizance to appreciate this.

I don't mind you speaking your mind, but offer more solutions, less pointing out problems. Ridicule without offering viable options is not constructive in my opinion.

Changed my mind.

I've gotten used to the changes and now think it's just fine!

Well- I like change-
and the new look is okay..

However I was really put off with the new change in profile- where is my friends lists?-
I like having them handy so to click on name and visit their profiles to leave comments and stuff.
Now I have to search for someone when I want to comment on them?-

Well maybe that will be fixed in the near future...
hopefully.

I'm usually adaptable.. and understanding.....but right now-I'm not digging the last changes...

The site was was really nice, neat and personal.
Now it looks like more impersonal, disconnected and muddle up.

I still love ATS and will keep visiting...
But yeah. I miss the way it used to be.

I used to spend a lot of time reading the posts and responses here but just quickly lost interest.

I suppose many members do the same thing too.

This site just does not seem the same anymore.

I don't even log in anymore just lurk and read but there just isn't anything to even waste my time responding to.

I just leave it to the children.

There are other forums with less members that one can join and actually have better interaction with adults on.

In answer to the original question put forth in this thread I'll say that this is the first thread I have actually replied to since the aesthetic shift. I've been here every day, but haven't really found the current layout very user friendly. It feels...awkward somehow. I thought the previous version a lot easier to navigate; simple itemised list of all the threads being discussed under a certain topic, etc etc.

But hey, this isn't a democracy...what can you do?

The new layout is better than ever, the UI is a bit complex in a positive way, thing is from what I can make out from comments, it displays too much information at the same time, there is too much now, everywhere, things were a bit simpler back in the days...
But alas, we all bitch and moan adapting to change, after all, no one is forcing anyone to stay, which leads me to the other issue that is much more important IMHO, this massive access and mingling of user bases from different oriented sites has indeed hurt ATS, I mean it hurts the very core of the DISCUSSION board, the site has become more complex, the user bases have oversimplified while inviting the masses.

Great revenue tho, hopefully after a while most of the children get bored and go play somewhere else, but the level of the topics and the general attitude towards several issues that should be discussed have in my opinion geared towards closed mindness and general oversimplification...

its definitely not the same kind of beast it was lets see where this goes, hopefully not where the sign in the bus marquee says....

I've been coming to ATS for years. My browser was always open and I was never logged out. I'm having trouble with the new layout because it's too busy, too many colors and like someone said, 'cartoonish'. I also notice one other thing that bothers me and has led me to find alternative sites to visit instead of ATS. Is ATS becoming like the Jerry Springer show?

I am not sure it has anything to do with the upgrade however.

I have a tingling feeling like something is going to happen...soon....and I don't want to miss it.

I love some of the new features. You can tell now right away if someone replies to a particular post of yours in the individual threads. It is a great feature!
I am sad my karma sucks so bad according to site "Gods" but how would they know anyway? They are only human. My karma is awesome.

Exactly, I used to log in, go immediately to "recent posts" and have a single "complete" presentation page.

The "title" column, the "forum topic" column, the different colored texts on the folders, etc.

Now it is a "pretty" cluster of chaos.

Last time I asked, my thread was BTS'ed so hopefully someone will see it this time. Anyway, I used to come multiple times a day, now I can barely stand to check out a few "highlights".

I feel that replacing the nice orderly view that existed with this is a "negative" enhancement actually lowers participation. Wish we could see some stats to find out if it is just us or are people using the site less (not individuals who came to the site but total sum of clicks or participation).

"Recent posts" RSS feed is the one I use. Simple and effective, yet not pretty.
It should be changed back and also made to an RSS feed for the (currently in the works) ATS mobile page format and put an interface to our options that we can mark a number of threads for them to be viewed in depth later when we get home etc. The options could have levels of tagging the interesting threads, like [this one I will read later] or [this one I will read and also reply later]

ATS has become one big commercial concept. Perhaps it has always been so, but to me personally it has lost its true character. I, for one, definitely have stopped posting quality threads. I still come here to read info, but ever since we were forced to stop using adblock software, I figured out what they are really after.

Anyhow, the reason why I'm posting here is because I would like to know if there's a way to switch off this most annoying popup telling me how many new posts there are since my last visit.

Well, now that you mention it...tonight's sort of special for me. I have been posting, getting stars, and then finding that I never posted at all. My thoughts are not showing up on the roster, there's no sign of a pulled post on the threads, and I shudder to read my messages because it will confirm that it's time to sharpen up my quantum skills.

I am sick at heart knowing what it all means. Just sick.

Those of you who know me, know what I am talking about!

I just blasted disney, and I guess they have a bit of pull.

ATS needs a 'mirror site', since the original site is being hacked by those who know me as their enemy.

Better yet. The world needs a new format, one that pulls no punches. Who's in?
