It's probably more accurately "disdainfully disregarded and dismissed", but for purposes of the conversation, we can call it "ignore".

Even though I prefer to deny ignore-ance.

Try and look at it from another perspective.

ATS staff do their job so well, the ignore option is a useless option.

I've spend time on forums where people were just messing around. Calling names, provoking negative responses and so on. That just isn't really a problem here.

Every time I see that ignore button, I say to myself. Na nana nana na

I can understand why mods' can't place others on ignore.
I find it a nice feature and I do use it.I have three members
on ignore.I placed them there for typing something that I
did not want to read, ever again.
I wish you could just ignore a reply on a thread, not everything
'they' type.

Did you let them know that you felt the way you did ?

If you did and the person that wrote it has some decency, they might avoid to bother you again. Ignoring them isn't really necessary if that's the case.

Don't you think ?

One member wrote something on my thread on purpose.
I knew that he wouldn't remove the offensive remark,so
I ignored him.
Another member has numerous comments that I don't
like,I ignored her.
The third one,I can't remember why I ignored them.They
will get another chance..
We do have privileges that the mods' don't.

i can understand the reasoning behind your last two posts.
just remember that people can change and mature.

i know many who use the function and if they put someone on ignore it is usually for a length of time, the second time they have to do it is longer, the third ... and so on...

Sinter Klaas,
looks like you are not one of mamabeth's 3

thanks for sharing,

They don't need to ignore people, they have a ban feature.

They do have the ability to put somebody on global ignore though, it basically makes them vanish.

I once had two members on ignore that was done by accident don't know how long they was on there

My opinion ignore should be removed the person you are ignoring will continue only you will not see.

And to stop people like me accidently putting you on ignore

Hope this flag kick starts your flag counter

Thankyou

There it is. The reason why the ignore button still is around. Some people are just complete baboons. Maybe not to all. Others could just feel hurt or offended. Why should one has to swallow it when there is a way away from negativity ?
Edit to add the above is about the reasons mamabeth gave. @ Everybody.

Thank you.

I understand and I think it is the best way to handle something that could otherwise ruin time and feelings. ATS should be a place to enjoy.

Adding "second line" to a one-line post does not make it less "one-liner", but instead highlights the fact that you've made a one-liner. It's like taking a picture of yourself while you're running a red light, and then sending the picture to the police...

However, a one-line post that is on-topic is not seen as a one-liner. I've seen posts that were actually on-topic to begin with, and thus not a one-liner, but with "second line" added to the post. I'm tempted to ding such posts as one-liners anyway, just because of the "second line" line. Just saying. "Second lines" are good for nothing.

2nd lines! Huh?!
What is good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Say it again!

In all honesty I don't know what a Mod is or does, I just see them around from time to time but I ignore them if they're doing any I guess "modding"

I don't really know what they do.

We just ensure that the ATS Terms and Conditions of Use are being followed. And we help when needed.

Mods can't ignore members, and members can't ignore mods...

That is why the members win everytime...
