Killing Me Softly with His Song (Wikipedia)
"Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a 1971 song composed by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel. It was inspired by Lori Lieberman's response to having seen a performance by Don McLean.
Verse 1:
I heard he, [Don Mclean], sang a good song,
I heard he had a style,
And so I came to see him,
To listen [to Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie] for a while,
And there he was this young boy,
A stranger to my eyes,
Chorus:
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Verse 2:
I felt all flushed with fever,
Embarassed by the crowd,
I felt he found my letters [Hebrew: waw-waw-waw (6-6-6)?],
And read each one out loud,
I prayed that he would finish,
But he just kept right on,
[Chorus]
Verse 3:
He sang as if he knew me,
In all my dark despair
