The example you use of Russia as a state with a "mortal wound" that was healed isn't very accurate. Russia is a shadow of the USSR or the Tzarist Russian Empire, surrounded by American/NATO forces in countries that used to be parts of her. The USA recovering from the Civil War would work better.

If either of the two Beasts were not to be a person, I'd say that the 2nd, usually dubbed "the False Prophet," as the media in general and television in particular. As a satanic trinity it would be a closer approximation of the real thing, if only the Antichrist was a human being.

"Mystery Bablyon" the woman riding the Beast (spirit of Antichrist, and briefly the person himself) as the "Statue of Liberty/New York/America/America's world empire" is surely not a single person. And "Mystery Babylon" loves Obama, but Obama doesn't return that love in truth, refusing to make even the most basic symbolic gestures of allegiance to it.

The example of Russia was only being used to illustrate what "recovering from a mortal wound", as applied to a state, could actually look like, so the exact example doesn't matter. Although, from a European perspective, I'm uneasily aware that Russia is at least beginning to recover.

In a later post on that thread, I remarked on the fact that Russia had already "recovered" from the disintegration of 1917, that China had also "recovered" from its own Civil War, and I even ventured the suggestion that USA falling apart and recovering could be another example.

In my next thread I'm going to be looking at the second Beast, arguing that the second Beast represents the human leader of the political power represented by the first Beast.
Amongst other things, this would explain why the second Beast is "exercising the authority" of the first Beast.

I understand that the 9th of Av is the ninth day of the eleventh month according to the Hebrew calendar. So it can be looked at in my opinion as the original 9/11. Even when you look at the fall of Israel and Judah the numbers seem prominent and thus significant especially to their demise (e.g. 2 Kings17:6; 2 Chronicles 36:11; 2 Kings 25:1-2; Jeremiah 39:1-2).

The USSR was not a recovery of the Russian empire, nor was Communist China a healing of Imperial China, the ancient civilizations at the root of those empires were replaced by form of Western civilization (which is where Socialism/Communism orginated). It is like saying Mexico is the Aztec empire recovered from its "mortal wound," no it is entirely different civilization (an offshoot of Western civ.) that happens to be in the same geographic area.

In my next thread I'm going to be looking at the second Beast, arguing that the second Beast represents the human leader of the political power represented by the first Beast.

I think you could be underestimating the cultural continuity, especially in China, and overestimating the extent of real westernisation.

Storing some canned food and stuff is always a good idea. But scenarios could develop where you have to flee to other parts of the USA or even to other countries. Spiritual preparation for death is more important than attempts to prolong your life during the Tribulation. In fact surviving longer may only place yourself at greater tempation to take the Mark than if you'd died earlier.
