what the hell was that about? all the BS the last 2 pages almost?

Turkey has enough combat experience to be more than ready for war. i know they arent war mongering nutsacks like the israelis but what can i say. i think its certaintly been proven on here that there are pro-israeli posters who purposely sign up to ATS one day, spew loads of pro-israel propaganda, and then jet.. kinda weird really...

That would sure be interesting. Let's see if he really does it and if he has enough balls.

Me thinks that either he would stop at the Israeli border... or if he considers Gaza to have it's own maritime border and would disregard Israel claims.

Because if Gaza is NOT Israel territory, it is it's own territory, therefore, they have a maritime border.

After all, why would Israel put a blockade against itself? By putting a blockade against Gaza, Israel have declared war on Gaza, Egypt too.

I hope he does it, that Israel does nothing, that the blockade ends, that a Palestinian state is created, and that they all sign a peace treaty and that the barbary of this area ends. That would sure be a great moment for the world.

So Israel what will it be? War against a NATO country or ending the illegal blockade which most of the world is opposed to? Barbary or decency?

In other news :
SWEDISH dockworkers will launch a week-long blockade of Israeli ships and goods arriving in the Nordic nation to protest Monday's attack on a Gaza-destined aid flotilla.

UPDATE: Now on SKYNEWS saying that he will in fact go with an escort of warships.... Waiting for Israeli reaction... Probably threats of war from their rightwing extremist government.

If the OP's source proves accurate;

'Allegedy' Israel doesn't take well to provocation (Mavi Marmara)

'Allegedly' Israel have a reputation for 'preemtive deterrence' and retaliation.

'Allegedly' a certain two intelligence agencies have a healthy relationship.

Tayyip Erdogan has been recommended by the US to postpone his plans.

Think about it.

Hypothetically I would happily take that bet with you friend. (not endorsing war)

Military comparisons are not as simplistic as a game of 'Top Trumps'.

Experience and proven skill negates alot of the numerical advantage.

The United States, the United Kingdom and Israel represent the top Western(edit) military nations.

Edit: I apologise, I thought they were about to become NATO's 29th member?
I'll go check my sources.

What the??

israel is a member of NATO now??

NATO member countries
NATO partner countries

WRONG..not even a junior member.

Edit to add: israel would NEVER join NATO...that would mean they had to play by the rules..and that don't suit their style...lol

Ah, this is where I got it from;

inteldaily.com...

Also of interest;

On January 11 Haaretz wrote that “The U.S. Army will double the value of emergency military equipment it stockpiles on Israeli soil, and Israel will be allowed to use the U.S. ordnance in the event of a military emergency….” Citing the U.S.-based Defense News, the Israeli newspaper added, “an agreement reached between Washington and Jerusalem last month will bring the value of the military gear to $800 million.

Well this is just plain disturbing.

In 2007 a Russian analyst warned of the consequences of the above developments: “By admitting Israel Washington plans to use the alliance as an instrument for exerting pressure on Arab states and strengthening its position in the Middle East….Washington has no plans to restrict the expansion only by admitting Israel. The alliance desires to attract India, Japan, Australia and Singapore….The continuation of NATO expansion is undoubtedly an alarming and dangerous idea that could split the world into groups of countries that oppose each other….According to the NATO Charter, an attack on a member state is considered as an aggression against all the members of the alliance [and] any conflict of Israel with its neighbours could become a source of a large-scale regional conflict that could turn into a global war.” [39] Undeterred by such grave considerations, even the threat of world war, Washington, Brussels and Tel Aviv continued their joint military collaboration.

Hmmm..the all new GLOBAL NATO.
And here i was thinking all those NEW WORLD ORDER folks were a bunch of crackers..lol

Edit to add: Might be worth a new thred to discuss the wider ramifications of israel entering the NATO fold.

I very much doubt that NATO expansion would go much further than it has already. Israel could be a contender, but I expect that would only happen if (and when) they have sorted themselves out and formed peaceful co-existance relations with the locals. There is no chance that NATO would entertain accepting a country with all the baggage Isreal has!

The plans to include India, Japan, Australia ring a bell. There was (possibly is) plans to create an international body of the worlds democracies. This would include NATO nations as they are all democratic and India, Japan, Oz et al. This organisation would replace the UN which is seen by many as being broken - after all you have countries like Iran sitting on "human rights" bodies as if they are exemplars!!!!

Hay ho

Regards

Agreed.
If it was to go ahead i wonder how the US could justify sponsoring Israel when they are in violation of some 35 UN resolutions.
Are there any other curent NATO countries that violate UN resolutions??
I guess this is what you hinted at with your reference about the UN being broken. If it can't enforce it's rresolutions against an "ally" what hope is ther against the bad guys?

Georgia has more chance of getting into NATO long before Israel, and that isn't anytime soon for either country.

Hay Skell,

The United States, the United Kingdom and Israel represent the top Western military nations.

I guess France and Germany don't make it onto your top western military list.

Active Military Manpower

US: 1,385,122
Germany: 250,000
Italy: 240,000
France: 225,000
United Kingdom: 195,000
Israel: 187,000

Turkey: 514,000

I know you think "Experience and proven skill negates alot of the numerical advantage. " but think about this...Conscription.
History has shown that a volunteer or "professional military" is far more effective in combat than a larger force of conscripts.
In my own experience i have seen how just one member of a six man squad that just doesn't what to play the game can negate the effectivness of the entire squad.

From the above list only Germany and Israel have conscription, Germany has alternative service available so conscientious objectors can choose to some extent.

BTW Turkey allso has conscription.

will surender asap...or face utter destruction.

No actually, you're quite wrong. Turkey has extensive combat experience going back decades and regulary makes forays into Northern Iraq to fight the Kurdish rebels there, as well as on their own territory.

They also carry out regular exercises with other NATO nations, so their training is up to scratch.

Turkey is a sleeping giant, I wouldn't want to wake it up myse
lf.

This is by far the most intelligent comment I've read in along time. Your points are righton target. Buy azreal-turkey war will not be an easy one since couple more muslim countries will join the party too. Also take into consideration of involment of both ussr and usa, well there you have yourself a hellbroken loose.....th. All the countries involved in this situation knows this and will do anything at hand to prevent it from happening.
