Well, for the record, I was for the bill that the health care corporations were lobbying against.. You remember, the one that had the public option? Then there were cries of socialism from the right. The dems compromised and dropped the public option. Now you see what we're stuck with instead?
Pardon me for being a cynic, but I doubt that either version had our best interests at heart.

Just like everything else that comes out of Washington DC.

I did also, that was one of the reasons I wanted Obama as president, but what we have gotten is not even closes.

He sold out America to private interest just like his predecessors.

The socialist agenda was the propaganda that private insurance companies used in order to get away with killing the public option and making the bill to the way that would benefit them almost 100%.

It upsets me so much to know that a campaign of blatant lies was enough to bring about this situation. Sara Palin & Glen Beck are as much responsible for this situation as anyone else. Grandma was never shovel-ready, and people don't die waiting in line to see a doctor in Canada. It makes me sick to think about it.

Everybody is completely missing the point. Public Option or no public option the government and corporations still win. With this bill we get mandated to buy insurance, with the public Option we get mandated to buy health insurance.

The fact is the government only gave you two options to choose from, a horrible bill with no public option, or a horrible bill with a public option. The government had no intentions of implementing a public option it was all just fodder to get people to support the bill. They had 60 votes in the senate and control of the congress to pass any bill that they wanted.

Only one or two people in the government actually gave us a third option and that was a free market solution. Get the government out of health care all together. Let doctors and hospitals complete like regular businesses and watch health care costs shrink drastically.

Doctors would no longer have to have an army of office staff to deal with the insurance companies and government insurance. Drug manufactures would have to cut their prices because the doctors would be able to prescribe different medication for companies that work for the consumer. And so on and so forth.

It doesn't matter who wrote the bill, all the matters is that the government gave us two choices to choose from, a horrible bill or a horrible bill. None of the government solutions ever give up power. We already know what happens in a Universal Health Care system, rationing, long waits, doctor shortages. We already know what happens in this Fascist health care system, high costs, and your life depending on what is good for the bottom line.

How about we actually try something different since those could be way more efficient and get the government out of the health care system all together?

I already thought there were too many give-aways to the insurance giants; this just confirms it.

Of course, the whole bill was not written by one person. There were many authors of many different parts. That doesn't mean most of it wasn't written by lobbyists from various corporations, however.

My philosophy thus far has been that some progress is better than no progress at all. Now I'm not so sure.

Hold on, are you really saying you're re-thinking whether the Obamacare bill was a good idea??? Did I just read that right?

No, in all seriousness, if that's the case, kudos to you for admitting it.

I think it's pretty darned suspicious that the head of an insurance agency would head authoring the bill when Obama has constantly preached about how insurance companies are the bad guys in all of this. That's a big conflict of interest, IMO.

Hold on - how are Glen Beck and Sarah Palin to blame for building a "Campaign of Lies" to pass Obamacare? The Obamacare bill was passed based on lies. I don't trust either Sarah Palin or Glen Beck, myself, but at least they were trying to open everyone's eyes to the fact that this bill was a bad idea. I'd like you to explain how exactly they are at fault? If you dismissed them for being sensationalists when they tried to warn you, isn't that a mistake that you made?

I'm talking about the sensationalist nonsense we had regarding the previous version of the bill. The one that had the public option. Remember when you couldn't go on the internet without seeing ten stories about how England & Canada have the worst health care in the world? When Palin was giving speeches about how socialized medicine wants to kill your grandmother? When Beck was telling us Obama was the lovechild of Che Guevara and Joseph Stalin because he wanted to give us a public healthcare option?

It's difficult to remember that far back... we're pretty much talking about last summer here. There's been so much going on recently with the new version of the bill that it's tough to even find articles from that period. Everything is swamped with stories about the new one.

Here's a little gem about the health care industry lobbying against that old public option, though. Eerily accurate in it's prediction.
Another Reason Why Healthcare Reform Might Fail

Edit: Let's not forget the old "GET OFF MY PHONE" bit from Beck.

I remember the stories like the one below saying that there were countries going broke because of socialized medicine. The one below talks about Canada.

northshorejournal.org...

I don't know how accurate that story proved to be, either.

I do remember the talk about "death panels" and I believe that those were being way overblown. But it's important to note that what this bill offers isn't socialized medicine or universal health care. Conceptually I would love to see the health insurance industries all become non-profit organizations that work with the healthcare industry on keeping costs down, not making profits and meeting "projections".

I completely agree that tis bill doesn't offer socialized medicine. My point was that we would have gotten socialized medicine if not for fear mongering and lobbying from the industry. That would have been a great victory, in my mind.

Who exactly is trying to take your freedoms?

You are kidding right?...

We are being forced through this bill to buy the healthcare insurance THAT THE GOVERNMENT wants us to have and you ask who exactly is trying to take our freedoms?....

One more thing, you do understand what Socialized medicine is right?.... It is when the government has control over healthcare, and guess what?.....the government has control over healthcare now.....

I guess you haven't read the fact that the IRS will be enforcing that people comply with "healthcare reform" and if people don't do so we will be fined.....

Even if for one month we fail to buy the healthcare insurance that "the government wants us to have" people will be fined $750 per person, and up to $2,250 per household....

Before you try to be a smarta$$ make sure to check the facts.....

And one more thing....has anyone asked themselves why is it that we will be going to be forced to start paying for this before it comes into effect in 2014?....

Another way to squeeze money from the people just to make us all equally poor....

From Encyclopedia.com
Corporatism

Corporatism is a system of interest intermediation in which vertically organized and functionally defined interest groups are granted official representation in the state policymaking apparatus. Corporatism is usefully contrasted with pluralism, a system in which interest groups openly compete with one another to gain access to the state.

Under corporatist systems, groups such as labor and business are represented to the state by peak associations, which tend to be subsidized by the state.

Other labor and business associations must thus work through these peak associations to gain access to the policymaking process. The major dilemma of corporatism is the balance between the autonomy and state control of interest groups.

Through the mid-twentieth century, corporatism was associated with the systems of interest intermediation found in Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. In the 1960s and 1970s, however, debate emerged over whether European industrial democracies were also characterized by corporatist arrangements.

By the late 1970s, scholars had agreed that corporatism could indeed exist within democratic frameworks. They called this system liberal or neocorporatism, contrasting it with the state corporatism of earlier periods.

No, it is socialized when it is supplied by the government, to citizens, funded with
Public money.

Look, maybe you should give posting a couple of days and take it easy.
