Currently about 84% ARE COVERED, 16% NOT.

tHIS BILL WILL GET US TO 95% COVERED, 4% NOT sUPPOSEDLY.

The worst part about this entire bill, is that it only increases coverage because it FORCES coverage (With the threat of an enforced fine)! Since when does Washington have the right to tell me, or anyone else for that matter, that we HAVE to buy into the "system"?

Also, I completely detest the fact of working my rear off, so that my money can be taken from my hands, and instead placed into the coffers of someone who sits around all day buying rims and new shoes from a fat government subsidy. This is absolute Socialism, and it might even become downright Communism in the end if we don't stand against this power tripping, arrogant, aristocracy of a Congress and Executive Branch!

I actually addressed this thread with my opinion, which does indeed still count as addressing.

Besides why target me when you didn't address anything yourself, contribute to the thread at least instead of picking me out of a crowd. Now I have to respond to you ... and you will most likely respond to me back and none of it will have to do due with the thread at all! Look what you started, what a vicious cycle that needs to be honored!

It simply amazes me how quickly some forget, or intentionally disregard... So this piece of crap healthcare bill is worse than the Patriot Act, the biggest slap to individual freedoms since the McCarthy Era??? It's worse than the invasion of Iraq for no good reason, costing 4.386 US service men and women their lives so he could settle his 'daddy issues'??? It's worse than his big tax break for the wealthiest in this country??? It's worse than his Wall Street Bailout on his way out the door???

It simply stymies me how so many here are ready to erect a statue to St. George of Bush!!!

I feel for you. I sincerely do. But do you feel that anyone owes you anything? Somehow that indelible human spirit to survive and yes sometimes thrive pulls us through the worst of times.

Pulling "ourselves" up by the bootstraps during the tough times makes us stronger. The occasional handup is appreciated but the handout destroys our spirit and weakens us.

It keeps far too many people from realizing their full potential.

I saw places after Katrina that FEMA rushed in to "assist" and I saw others that were all but ignored. Let me assure you the ones denied Government assistance were the fortunate ones.

Can you point out in the Constitution where Congress has the authority to mandate that I purchase a product? THAT should be everyone's concern.. moreso than the spending!

As for where I was when Bush was spending out of control.. same place bub, raising my voice about it. You should have heard me on the Patriot Act..

Yes, I can understand, having read news reports about elderly Americans who've had to keep working into their 70s, simply in order to pay their health costs. Another report I read recently detailed how an American family was rendered bankrupt because the wife and mother had to be hospitalised for a week or two

But, something puzzles me, because from time to time, I've read that in the US there is 'Medicaid' (?) which is a free health system (?). If correct, is this 'Medicaid' system reserved for those lacking an income and for those on welfare ? Is it not accessible to Americans who're employed ? And will this new system be similar, but freely accessible to all, whether or not they pay the 2.5% levy ?

Pick up a book and read history it is pretty clear. This is a path that only leads one way. It may not be tomorrow or next week but I can guarantee you eventually the piper will be paid. And your arrogance will blind you to it. People like you have the simplest of truths escape them.

The increase in coverage isn't a great deal, obviously

but will the new system be a lot less expensive for the average person ?

If so, is it likely that after seeing a lot more left in their pay packet each week, people will come to appreciate the lessened cost to themselves of health-care, regardless of whether or not they are contributing to the health costs of others ?

I do not defend the current spending spree that the Dem's are on... Not in the slightest. My point here is the innane partisan postering, while it seems that no one is aware that the true masters of our Government is Big Business, and their lobbyists in DC... Even though the bill has passed, there are still policies that have to be written up to see how the program will be shaped. Think of the bill as a shell and we have to fill in the inside.

Some things are known but others aren't. Furthermore, the pay check is another issue. Remember that we are 12 trillion in debt, some of our entitlement programs are in trouble as well as other issues. I am not sure we will be able to determine who is paying more or less just by looking at our paychecks.

I think once it fully goes into effect we will have a better ideal who benefits the most.
