Do You Have Blue Eyes? Heres Why!

New research shows that people with blue eyes have a single, common ancestor. A team at the University of Copenhagen have tracked down a genetic mutation which took place 6-10,000 years ago and is the cause of the eye colour of all blue-eyed humans alive on the planet today.

I found this very intresting, because I do have blue eyes, and everyone in my immediate family do as well. They just don't know why the original blue eyed ancestor had blue eyes, very odd. Everyone had brown eyes, but something happen.

Well, I guess we're related then!

Almost no one, on either side of my family, has blue eyes. The only ones that I can think of are my mother and her father. Nearly everyone seems to have brown eyes.

Yes, what about us green eyed people.
I have sea green eyes but I have a triangle of brown at the top of my left eye.
I want answers.

I tend to be attracted to blue eyed men and have found that to be unfortunately not true.
two of the dumbest people I know have blue eyes, but I know a lot of extremely intelligent blue eyed people as well.

Looks like we need to start planning a family reunion!

I was reading the other article about blue eyes and paternity test.

It says that brown eyes are dominant. So 1 brown eyed parent + 1 blue eyed parent = brown eyed children.

But .. I have blue eyes. My wife has brown eyes. Our daughter has blue eyes. We're expecting another child in May/June .. Wonder what the chances are that he or she will have Blue eyes or Brown eyes.

And I'm not making fun of you, by the way. The idea has crossed my mind before, although not necessarily in the fashion that you mentioned. How different eye colors came to be is kind of fascinating.

That is not always true.
My ex had 2 brown eyed parents and 3 out of 4 of their children had blue eyes.
Both my parents had brown eyes and I have very pale green eyes.
Between my ex and mine's three children (1 blue eyed parent one green eyed parent) we had 1 blue eyed child one brown eyed child and one light brown eyed child.

I'm trying to understand what happened way back when the first mutation showed up. How did the mating go along?

Was it a blue eyed girl that got dragged back to the cave at a young age by the strongest studly man?

Was it a blue eyed guy that was seduced by a wickedly intelligent hag?

both my parents and my brother have brown eyes and dark brown hair, whereas i have blond hair and blue eyes.
i swear my mom must have cheated on my dad with the milk man or somethin lol.

This is amazing but I am more attracted to brunette, brown-eyed women.

How many samples?

I know these sound like crazy questions, but if you were right here I'd ask them just the same. (unless your 240 lb. 6'4'' husband was here also)
