How quickly we forget the operation on 911.
The cells made many dry runs and tested security prior to the big event. They test the routes, airlines, learn how to look normal, establish steady travel records to draw off suspicion... etc.
For instance:
May 24, 2001. Marwan el-Shehi, 23 old native of the United Arab Emirates who steered United Airlines Fight 175 into the south tower of the World Trade Center, flies into Las Vegas from San Francisco immediately after a transcontinental flight from New York

May 27, 2001. Marwan al-Shehi leaves Las Vegas for San Francisco en-route to NewYork

June, 2001. Lotfi Raissi visits Las Vegas. He was later arrested in London in connection with flight training of four of the 9/11 terrorists

June 7, 2001. Ziad Jarra, 26 from Lebanon who crashed United Airlines Flight 93 into a Pennsylvania field, arrives in Vegas through Los Angeles from Baltimore. While renting a car from the Airport Payless Car rental, he writes he is staying at the Circus Circus

June 10, 2001. Ziad Jarra returns to Baltimore

June 28, 2001. Mohammed Atta, 33 from Egypt who flew American Airlines Flight 11 into the north tower of the WTC, arrives in Vegas from Washington, rents a Chevrolet Malibu from an Alamo rental office, sets up an account at an Internet café, and checks into a $55 a night room at the Econolodge motel at 1150 S. Las Vegas Blvd. in the shadow of the 1,149-foot Stratosphere Casino Hotel Tower and a stone’s throw from FBI headquarters.. Some reports place him and Jarra in a cyber cafe together even though there is no record of Jarra being in Vegas during Attta’s stay.

July 1, 2001. Atta checks out of the Econolodge at 3:30 a.m. returns his rental car and boards a flight for Boston through Denver.

July 7, 2001 Atta flies to Madrid to allegedly meet Ramzi bin al-Shibh who was in Spain, during the same period, and from there to Atlanta on July 19, 2001.

Aug 13, 2001. Hani Hanjour, 29 from Saudi Arabia who flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, and Nawaf al-Hazmi from Saudi Arabia, who was supposedly one of the terrorists on Flight 77, arrive in Vegas from Dulles, via Los Angeles.

Aug 14, 2001. Atta leaves Las Vegas for Fort Lauderdale (No record of his arrival)

Aug 14, 2001. Hani Hanjour and Nawaf al-Hazmi leave Las Vegas for Baltimore via Minneapolis

Yeah, so you think the US is going to attack Nigeria now becuase of this guy. HAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHA.
You understand, of course, that there are 57 OIC countries where muslims plan attacks against the West.
Also you understand, of course, that Venezuela is part of OPEC and Saudi, an ally in the oil business is currently on good terms with us. That will change in the next 2 years but for now everything is peachy.
Nice try to divert an incident of Isalmic terrorism on US soil.

It's not a club like most Westerners think.

This will all be blown way out of proportion and will be across the media for days, with many linking it to al-Qaeda.

Chances are, he wasn't directly linked or even met an al-Qaeda operative. Random fundamentalist, probably unstable, decided to create havoc. Judging from the reports, it was not even a sophisticated device.

Ok, that is where I disagree with you. I see this as yet more of the same rich, inbred, globally powerful families acting to further speed the chaos and destruction of our current world societies.

It is a waste of time. All they had to do was make everyone rich and we would follow our world leaders to the gates of hell and we wouldn't care as long as we all had our BMW's and luxuries the elite hold.

All you have to do is find a guy off the street, use the traditional Nazi mind penetration techniques in a dark alley, give him a bomb, and put him on a plane. Done.

Then he is just another Al Qaeda operative who you refuse the public spotlight to, and even if he fails in the explosion, you have fresh meat for the journalistic news whores who are ready and willing to splatter their fear across the world.

The true terrorists wear suits, eat lavish food, drive the most expensive vehicles they can afford, and do so under the pretense that they are more evolved than everyone else. Little do they realize that Eugenics was always a flawed concept and it doesn't take a little prince with hemophilia to prove it.

A majority of our world leaders see us as a stupid, foul, sub-species that deserves nothing. After all, if it weren't for the rich, how would the world turn? Quite easily, and the very people living on their high hills looking down on us are already most likely guilty of horrendous crimes against humanity, and they are simply biding their time to wipe out the blight of poverty they created in the first place by killing us off.

I hope I fit in my plastic coffin. I'd hate to have my ankles cut off just to fit.

What a Christmas gift indeed.

I wasn't trying to link Ft. Hood with this incident - I was contrasting the media reactions. Now it looks even more suspious that the person maybe a herion smuggler. If we are so determinded to be fair that we generally aviod the obvious common sense reactions - WHY did the press and the White House jump on this as a terrorist attack? It's the opposite of policital correctness.
I am searching for the logic the media and the White House use to reconcile the two diametrically opposed reactions.

Of course, our leaders love the prospect of a terrorist attack. We go running into their arms for protection, sung to sleep at night whilst all our democratic rights are swept away to the mellifluous tune of ba ba black sheep.

In the mean time, the religious or ethnic group (who the media wish to blame) pretty much become target practice for jingoistic editorials whilst towns are effectively carpet bombed in order to please us.

Funny how the world works, eh?

Yet how quickly you are to rely on the information provided for you by people you have never met, NOT ONCE IN YOUR LIFE.

You cannot prove that information has not been manipulated to further create fear and maintain the current course of world events.

Governments could say anything they want and if it looks official enough, people will buy it hook, line, and sinker. Not to mention, we are the bait.

Your facts are nothing more than bits of information provided by the people who want you to believe them.

We have been sold down river, and our tax dollars are being used to further our own disintegration as societies. Your info is meaningless unless you collected it yourself and provide the proof that you did.

BS. I call Hoax! Prove it!
Hee hee.

Huh? Where did I state this?

None of the 19 hijackers on 911 was from Iraq and Afghanistan, so this would mean that Nigeria will not be attacked

President Obama gets to make a little speech, we all clap and cheer, his approval ratings go up. Simples.

It amazes me that this incident is automatically linked now to the White House. That's amazing.

I'm not clapping and cheering. If Obama really believes that, What's he going to do about it. It set him up for ridicule as an ineffective chief executive and his ratings and ego would suffer. If that pushes him onto doing something hasty and stupid, it could benefit the terrorists by causing the prez problems here at home and giving the terrorist some good publicity - wether they earned it of not.

Does this have something to do with the topic or have you resorted (as usual) to personal attacks and flaming?
Crikey.

I'm not understanding your comprehension. Sorry.
Islam is one unit, that's the first basic to grip. AQ is a unit of the same.
Good Luck.

Wow, your point of view certainly puts alot of responsibility of the govrenment caring for each of us in an individual sense. That's an amazing accomplishment of the government.

I would like to expand on our title. It wasn't a "man" that tried to blow up the plane it was a Muslim terrorist.
statistics don't lie, Muslims do terrorist attacks. what did this man hope to achieve? did he think killing all the people on that plane, coming home for Christmas would get him into heaven? no religion whatsoever, anywhere in the world condones this behavior. look what they are doing to Islam, from now on all those people on that flight are going to tell tens or hundreds of people how hateful Muslims are, thus spreading more hate against Muslims.

it's crazy to imagine that European judges want to bring the Israeli government to justice for the Gaza attack. The people standing in front of a judge begging for their freedom should be these Muslims.
