Man Attempts to Set Off Explosives on Plane

abcnews.go.com
Federal officials and police are interviewing a Nigerian man, who allegedly tried to "explode" a powdery substance aboard a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, injuring himself and two other passengers, law enforcement officials said.

The man was apparently already on the government's no-fly list of suspected terrorists, according to a senior intelligence official.

"The subject is claiming to have extremist affiliation and that the device was acquired in Yemen...."

Yes no doubt. This one man who wasn't even smart enough to get some explosives right, and who managed to get on a flight to the US REGARDLESS of restrictions that are already in place, are perfect reminders of how necessary removing our civil rights to fight these guys are.

Genius is all I can say.

That doesn't change the fact that the terrorists we're allowed to fly all the way off course into a building, while they diverted from course, they should have been either escorted or shot the # down.

Matrydom, is that not the reason why they all attack?

It just shows they would rather show thier cowardnise an Kill a few hundred innocent people. Than attack those in power. All for that cause. Some people have a very senile and stupid ideiology.

Yeah probably a higher chance of getting on a plane with a terrorist than getting killed by lightning.

Odds of being struck by lightning: 576,000 to 1

Odds of being killed by lightning: 2,320,000 to 1

Odds of drowning in a bathtub: 685,000 to 1

Chance of dying in a terrorist attack while visiting a foreign country: 1 in 650,000

Better get rid of your bathtub also ask the government for help to rid of it because its just as dangerous.

In the least bit of disrespect you are a example of why we keep losing our rights everyday in America to fear mongering bullsh** put out by the government.

I should keep listing things to just prove a point.

Odds of being murdered: 18,000 to 1

Odds of fatally slipping in bath or shower: 2,232 to 1

Chance of dying from a car accident: 1 in 18,585

Chance of dying from any kind of fall: 1 in 20,666

Chance of dying from accidental drowning: 1 in 79,065

Chance of dying from exposure to smoke, fire, and flames: 1 in 81,524

Chance of dying in an explosion: 1 in 107,787

Passenger Ignites Explosive on Delta Flight, Al Qaeda Connection Reported

Connection Reported by media fear mongering thus not confirmed by anyone.

Fox sure loves the word Al Qaeda all the time.

yupers sounds like a false flag.

What is the point of listing the odds of various events? Especially when the only relevant event, the terrorist event, did actually happen today?

I mean, I just don't see the point?

And yes, igniting fireworks on a commercial airliner *is* a terrorist act.

Those who would suggest that the war against terrorism is a waste need only to pay attention to these continued efforts to kill and maim innocents in the name of Islam.

It is as yet unclear how dangerous these explosives might have been, but it is is it just another reminder that the war against the US continues.

We can never let down our guard as history has shown.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

Grady Philpott, you are absolutely correct.
