Indeed, there is a LOT of information here that is highly valuable to us (as researchers). As you said, datamining goes way deeper than keywords. Deep to a point where they have a profile on people they think could be potential threats (media, or sniper nutcase threats etc).

Yeah, so as long as you aren't a sniper nutcase then there's nothing to worry about. I personally have an group that follows me around, my personal stalkers with ill intent. F 'em, they always hang themselves.

I am sure this probably makes me look somewhat suspicious.
Am I paranoid or does anyone else see this happening?

You know, perhaps you're spending a bit too much time on these forums. Just sayin'...

Take a walk. Listen to music. See a movie. Clear the mind.

Hey, I will likely be banned and burned on a fat stake for this but... yes, I think you and maybe a hundred (or so) others here are paranoid. Further on, I think that this senseless paranoia and suspicion is going to hurt the ATS site over time if it doesn't eventually outgrow itself.

But then again, this could be Six Flags and it may not really be you because... the world is a strange place and all those snarky shadows you fear may really be out there.

You know... double secret ATS agents of undiscovery who sneak about with their Johnny Spymaster decoder rings?

I'm sorry... and you have no reason to forgive me. I have been here long enough to know better than a post like this.

In fact there is no excuse except that I may have been led here by undercover agents of poor humor who purposely lead older members to write things like this to see them tossed out of ATS.

My only hope is that sanity returns and we stop looking at every member like he or she is a rabid Martian weevil employed by the NWO.

...

ATS data shows 90% of what's online is read by non-participants. When inactive members or outsiders see something outrageous they often feel compelled to leap in and correct a serious misstatement. A few have even
said so.

A government study would come up with a predictable summary report.

A lot of uninformed people making a lot of unfounded speculations.

The government is fine with a lot of know-nothings exchanging the same old disinformation. Like 9/11 was an Inside Job, the US military is hiding alien technology. It means healthy activism is being dissipated on dead end fantasies instead of the real political issues.

Anyone with critical sensitive information is not posting it here.

No they do not,but they want to.

I have information that I learned from 20 years of service that I have wanted to tell people but it will never happen on this forum.

To many uninformed children visiting this board lately.

If someone posts something they want pictures and proof.

I don't have any of that but I do have knowledge.

I don't think me talking about it will get me in trouble, most of it happened 20 years ago.

But it would open a lot of peoples eyes as to what really went down and why some of the things that are the way they are today.

But to go through the crap that comes from this site when an adult is trying to enlighten others, that will never happen.

If a super mod or the owners of this site would like to know what I know U2U me and I would gladly share.

Of course, they could just be well-informed people who decided to offer some of the information on the spur of the moment.

I know that i personally used to just read posts for a few months before i started posting anything here. That might be the case with alot of new members who know alot about the content of the site but werent necessarily always part of the community aspect.

It is snobbish to even think you have to be a seasoned ATS'er to be well informed about various subjects.

And here's the big one:

Do not talk on the phone, post on the Internet or discuss delicate matters anywhere that has not been swept for bugs.

It is delusional to consider a new member is stupid and uninformed and to think anything you post on the Internet is private.

I'm not paranoid but when I tear up a computer or cell phone beyond repair, I destroy the cell phone and the hard drive in the computer.

Glad I quit smoking. I used to field strip my butts.

It's always been this way with information.

In the late 50's I remember sitting on a bench at the ocean front while my Dad and another man would go to the edge of the water to discuss business. It was obvious they were seeking privacy as they were dressed in business suits.

It is very hard to keep anything secret these days with the technology we have at our fingertips.

I agree but is it the most entertaining solution?

Probably not ...

What is rather entertaining though is when "Mysterious New Well Informed Members" becomes a conspiracy ... as opposed to what? "We're all good cause only idiots are joining!"

Guess I could have chose a better header...

Like the government bribed bloggers. I know its more commonplace than most would admit since it doesn't appear to be much of a problem yet, but I thought I would post this thread since I didn't see one like it. Just glad that people have caught onto it happening in ATS and not just other places for I thought I was being just slightly paranoid but like one of the responders said that they had posted a similar thread some time ago.

Stars for everybody!

As for the names, I would rather not end up with the blood of the innocent on my hands not to mention make myself look suspicious if I am trying to boot "well informed" members.

As long as you remain active I don't think you could be judged as suspicious, however there are several very old accounts (more than two years is a long time
) that are seldom active in posting i.e. they post like maybe once every blue moon (which is coming up by the way
), which is strange, but perhaps some members prefer to read opinions rather than add their own however unlikely for such an amount of time, which is why I find those members suspicious as well.

I'm new to ATS but have been a moderator on other sites before and pretty in touch with conspiracy stuff, specially H1N1, the sides of the 9/11 arguments, etc. I'm also a grad student and pretty darn opinionated *cough* I mean educated *cough*

By the way on my other site we have a guy that keeps getting banned, coming back, getting banned again, coming back

We actually had to put a notice on the whole prefix of his IP just to keep an eye out for him! Crazy

Works for me. The best evidence I can give you is if you are a witness to these types yourself which usually isn't very hard. You can do this by clicking any 'ole thread and find members with this sort of appearance:

NO Avatar
FEW/NO Stars
FEW/NO Flags
LONG detailed post to debunk OP
LONG detailed post with links or opinions that discredit subject matter (not debunking)
Uses speech and signature (i.e. Yours Truly, the B Master) as if trying to blend in, like they have already been here, very difficult to explain this part

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:

NO threads to their name
NO Introduction Thread (usually)
Joined either the very day the thread was created or very close
Little/NO activity after posting date

If you have all four of the last you almost definitely have a culprit. To me it appears pretty common and its as easy as clicking the persons name.

Exactly, perhaps even "sock" accounts. I am not purely saying that these are government agents or something.

Certainly some of us feeling a bit more brutish than others saying things like that, eh redoubt?

I hear ya we need to stick together but don't think for one minute the Gov. is not trolling this site and even active within it, you can pretty much tell when you need too.

I would put up more info but don't want to get banned

[edit on 18-12-2009 by OpTiMuS_PrImE]

I assume you have proof of the govt trolling this place...Iw ill keep thinking what I always think...that is this

Don't think for one minute the govt actually cares one bit about what a bunch of CTers think...I bet you most of these CT's are so far off the truth it is sick and the laugh if they even care to look here

This isn't an attack on the site. I love this place and discussing some of the big CT's is what I am here for. Yes I also love BTS and hang out their often but I really don't think this place is near as important as we as a collective seem to think

-Kyo

Well, it may not have been the government, but this week a mental health institute, which was formerly headed by the MKULTRA researcher Ewen Cameron, tried to recruit ATS members for a H1N1 study. This institute works in collaboration with the WHO, and the study designer was certainly interested, how the mind of conspiracy theorists work.

A large part of the funding for the CIA has always been used for propaganda. Media outlets have been bribed or were infiltrated. Now, with the rise of social media, online marketing companies try to manipulate forum discussions for their clients. Do you really believe the CIA would miss this development?

Well i have noticed 3 members on my friends list have recently been banned. But i did notice a familiar pattern with a new member that flatout resembles someone on my sharp friends list that had recently been banned.

This is a great site....if i were banned, i too would create a new alias and join the ranks..... sure, its at the bottom, but we all started there 'in the beginning' didnt we ??

its would be cool to make a thread in introduction forum as some list of questions with yes/no + dont know about some most discussed things like 9/11 , aliens etc.

example some one would do such list like :
do You belive 9/11 was a false flag :
do You belive in aliens visiting earth :

and then poster who wana be asociated with 1 group or another can go to such topic and answer.

As to encourage members to do so admins could implement some system wich will then mark Your profile and miniprofile with some badass graphics wich puts You in a group of members who share such belif.

then it would be easier to see who sticks to thier belif and who dont.

I for one must say that i found ATS by other UFO forum and i changed my wiev alittle about how i see it.

(sorry if all i wrote is stupid im tired and flu is kicking my behind :/ )
