The Fourth Kind: Beware of "abduction" prop/agenda.

...

Hypnosis is NOT Science.

It is an outdated and invalid method to obtain facts/truth.

This movie is bad science fiction and bad history, with an agenda.

Agenda: Fear, Ridicule (and 'entertainment').

"The abduction phenomenon is of considerable clinical and scientific interest"

...

Mack was right, for the wrong reasons.

Why?

The information of Mack, Hopkins, Strieber et al, is obtained
by using an outdated, hence, controversial and invalid method of Science:

- Hypnosis.

Therefore, related "abduction" 'research'
only points out to the fact that hypnosis
is NOT a valid scientific tool/method to find TRUTH/FACTS.

Read below, and you'll understand the point.

...

About hypnosis:

Anyone who "believes" in 'abduction' should understand
first what is hypnosis and what it is not.

Under hypnosis people can get induced to believe
(they are) just about anything?

You don't actually need a Psychology degree to understand this.

Common sense is the only requirement.

Go visit one of those hypnosis side-shows and you will understand what is
hypnosis and why it can NOT actually be used to find truth/facts.

Those watching TV are severely being hypnotized by their TV set every day?

TV viewers, start to 'believe' all kinds of things that are unreal?

Hypnosis borders indeed much on 'black magic'.

Why?

Because it is an attempt/technique to disable (Free) Will.

- If you understand what is hypnosis,
you will NEVER volunteer to be hypnotized.

- Even trained hypnotists know very little, if anything,
about what they are engaging themselves with.

- Statements made by people under hypnosis are NOT valid
as proof in a court of law.

- Among professional psychologists, the use of hypnosis has become
highly controversial, now that we are meanwhile half a century
away from the experimental 60's.

This is 2009 folks!

The 'abduction crowd' refuses to get updated
on the insights and findings of modern psychology?

- Statements made under hypnosis are considered NON-objective,
and therefore, they are treated very differently to the statements
that are made in a normal non-hypnotized state of mind.

- Hypnosis is used by psychologists ONLY for therapy,
it is NOT used for finding 'truth' or facts.

...

Conclusion:

This movie, and the agenda behind it that is promoting it,
is another one of those saddening attempts to discredit the benevolent
visitors to Earth from the other Planets of our Solar System.

Agenda: Fear, Ridicule and 'Entertainment'.

...

What the 'GOV' doesn't want you to know:

- Visiting ETs are not unidentified,
neither are many of their spaceships.

- We are not alone in our Solar System.

- Visiting extra-terrestrials are Humans.

This movie is bad for Ufology. This movie can be summed up with two words: "FEAR" and "PROPAGANDA"

I found it to be an entertaining, creepy movie. That's it, a movie.

Can either of you present any evidence, whatsoever, that this is not just a movie but propaganda? Do you have any evidence, whatsoever, that someone was pushing an agenda with this movie?

Evidence, not speculation.

Evidence, not your opinion.

where is your proof ?? I have seen things that say the opposite from what you typed and from qualified professionals

To clarify...I don't mean Government propaganda. It's just pop culture crap in my opinion, but it will paint a very negative image of aliens in a lot of people's minds regardless of whether it's real footage or not.

Hypnosis has a place in science, but it is notoriously unreliable for retrieving supposedly "hidden" memories. What usually happens is that these "hidden" memories are created by the hypnotist, often completely unconsciously, as s/he searches for possible indications of alien abduction, childhood abuse, satanic rituals, or whatever it is they're trying to uncover.

There are guys who specialize in uncovering suppressed memories of alien abductions. Amazingly, almost everyone has been abducted! The reason is that the hypnotist isn't trying to see what the subject remembers, but is trying to uncover hidden memories of alien abduction. S/he's going in with preconceived notions about what happens, and not surprisingly, "uncovers" precisely those notions s/he expects.

I havent seen this movie, but I doubt it will do more harm to UFOlogy than Signs must have.

This a discussion board.

Not a scientific convention.

I have presented here my opinion,
based on my knowledge and understanding
of certain things.

You've just given me your opinion.

Thanks.

At no point did you state it was your opinion. You made declarative statements as if they were fact.

What is up with the videos you presented? Are they supposed to be evidence of some sort? They are nothing but musical-videos of pretty pictures, no substance to them, no information to be had.

Yes, because alien abduction* doesn't paint a very negative image of aliens in a lot of people's minds. Nope, it's going to be this movie...

(*Not saying the phenomenon is driven by aliens, but for argument's sake...)

Your opinion is wrong.

Don't get me wrong, it's your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but you are wrong in just about everything you have stated. Your opinion is so wrong in fact, that it doesn't even have much worth even being posted on a discussion board, as the information you have presented is so fallible that it should make one question as to whether or not you are even capable of logical thought or have any critical thinking skills.

Good points.

Anyone who does a bit of research on hypnosis
can learn that the method/technique is unreliable
and controversial regarding truth/fact finding.

It seems we go through this every time there is a new (or a remake of an old) sci-fi/alien movie:

" [gasp] A movie depicting aliens as bad guys? Government propaganda!"

" [gasp] A movie depicting aliens as good guys? Government propaganda!"

" [gasp] A movie depicting pseudoscience in a bad/good light? Government propaganda!"

no let's not lay down the evidence. let's jump on the conclusion that every alien film is set up for dis-info/conditioning.

come on guys give us something to chew on. give me some secret documents, link the director/producer to the government. Give us a REASON to believe you.

otherwise just label this as speculation/opinion and stop trying to scare every one.

give at least some constructive evidence.

Let's review.

My opinion is that YOUR opinion is wrong.

So, for MY opinion to be wrong, your opinion would have to be right, which as we have already stated is not the case and you have not refuted my claim.

Hence, my opinion is valid.

I am ridiculously behind with movies- guess I'm not much of a movie goer

but watched Independance day last night on the tel- it really was quite disheartening to watch, fgs everyone was cheering at the end when the aliens were wiped out- I missed the start so wasnt sure if they attacked or not

Hollywood and the crap it churnes out is quite naueseating, no wonder I dont bother.
