It's not about lowering the bar. Even if Obama was Kenyan born, it does not necessarily mean that he is not going to make the decisions that are necessary for him to effectively lead the country.

Where he is born does not reflect on his ability... it's relevance concerns his eligibility. That law is there for a purpose... namely to protect the office from foreign influence. But let's damn the Constitution for a minute and run with your premise and say so what if he's born in Kenya? ... that shouldn't affect his ability to lead effectively right? So.. I would ask then:

When does this effective leadership begin exactly? Have you seen evidence of it? I know I have not.

Maybe the only point to be made here is that he's inept no matter where he was born?

edit to add: this was sopposed to be a reply to Expat, i must have clicked the wrong button! just wanted to be clear what I was refering to!

please look at this thread sir:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

making a reply that only contains name calling and the like of does nothing to help your side of an arguement. As someone who vehmenently disagrees with the OP, and agrees with you, I don't want to be discredited by your remark. It makes you look just as ignorant or more so than the statement you are arguing. And don't take this as a calling out or whatever, most people are guilty of this at one point or another, (I know I, for one, used to be really bad about it) especially when the point we are arguing against is so incredibly and obviously wrong (in our opinion of course!)
By reacting the way you did, it just makes us look desperate and ignorant.

I completely disagree. Being born in the US was one of the only things that the founders of this country was important enough to put in the Constitution as a requirement to become president. That, and an age of at least 35.

There are sound reasons for both.

If Obama was NOT born in the US, and it can be proven, he should be removed from office.

Think about it. Let's say you won the lottery with a fake lottery ticket, but nobody else claimed it. Let's say that in 2 years time, someone found out you faked the lottery ticket. Should you be able to keep the money, just because you got away with it for 2 years? No. You knew it was wrong to fake a lottery ticket, and you risked being caught. If you get caught you should give back the money.

Same as the presidency. If it turns out he was not born in America, he should be removed from office, plain and simple. It's not racist....it's a matter of following the rules. It's a matter of fraud.

No one says that because you are born in America BOOM you have the ability to be a great American.
I don't think the George Bush was American and he sucked argument really even is relevant.

We're talking a matter of law, and a matter of constitution and a matter of the founding father's vision for the country. If you go back and read the historic documents from around the revolution, you'll see that they really thought about all the problems they'd seen with government, and they were trying to prevent the same things from happening here. They wanted the United States to LAST, be secure, and for the people to be free and self governing.

Self-Governing. They wanted to make sure that no other country influenced our rule, and that our leader was not beholden by birth to sell this this country out.

We probably have a HUGE problem right now with such things as the Israeli lobby infiltrating our administration. The Saudis are most likely influencing us to heck and back. We can't risk such as that at the highest level! (It's bad enough that some natural born citizens & their families can be bought! Money is powerful, but so is BLOOD.)

I really do not understand why people - Obama supporters or NOT, don't GET that.

To be honest, I voted for Obama after supporting Ron Paul and watching his party poop all over him and his supporters. I turned to Obama, as what seemed like the less of many evils, had high hopes that were, even then, just hope, now dashed on the rocks.

Certainly someone birth place won't effect the quality of leadership they may offer later on in life . The environment they are born into will be largely the deciding factor . Still disagreeing with the Constitution on sound grounds isnt an excuse to violate it . Should Obama be proven to be ineligible to sit in the White House and then he would have to be removed from office . Never the less the whole birther movement is made up of utter nonsense which is racial motivated .

As an outsider I have to ask, is there 2 levels of citizenship in america? 1 that allows you to lead and one that doesnt? And what is the difference? So does that make those that arent able to lead 2nd class citizens?

Just curious.
