Well the founding fathers knew about merchants, which were equivalent to corporations where the merchant would lobby the King to be allowed to have monopoly on certain trade routes and the likes.

I really can't answer the question of power of corps being known by the forefathers, but they thought that it wouldn't happen because people would vote new people in every 2 and 4 years, remember at the time we didn't vote for senate members, they were appointed by the state legislature that we voted in.

Now, one problem I have is that the courts have always ruled that the bill of rights doesn't apply to corporations, as in corps don't have to abide by the rules. They can keep lists, and mine your information and sell and the likes.

Now I think the courts are wrong in these decisions, but as I mentioned earlier the courts have always ruled that the bill of rights only protects us from the government stripping away our rights.

Now if the American Revolution were to happen today I firmly believe that they would have made sure that what we are witnessing today wouldn't happen.

The problem you run into though, is when the government passes laws that are beneficial only to the corporations. Like subsidies, tax breaks, excess regulations, etc. what that does is make it to where smaller businesses have a hard time entering the market and when they have the capital to be able to too their overhead is so much it is hard for them to compete.

Now what happens is the major corps they are competing against just undercut their prices and run them out of business because the big corp can afford it. Now if you took away the tax breaks, subsidies, and red tape, the smaller business would drive the bigger business out of business because the smaller business could compete with the larger corp at a competitive price right and make a profit, whereas the big corp would eventual go out of business because it can't afford to lose money.

So that is where we sort of are now, the corps. have lobbied gov to create barriers to entry to drive out small business in order to increase their profits and maintain a small monopoly.

Now if I was writing the constitution today, I would make a provision that corps, are not people, like they currently are considered. Corps wouldn't be able to own land, and our rights would also apply in to protection against them, i.e. no more data mining, etc.

Also no lobbying the .gov another thing is make all elected officials sell all stocks and bonds on top of selling their company and giving up stock options, so they have nothing to gain from creating laws that protect them.

Now another thing that really tees me off is the fact monopoly laws are only applied nation wide, I believe that monopoly laws should also be enforced at the local level when it comes to essential services, like water, power, TV, etc.

Now what I have a problem with is allowing the government to come in break down conglomerates because people in government will find away to apply it to every business that they don't like.

The way I would fix the problem is make lobbying illegal and make it to where if you run for office and you win you are signing a contact and open to lawsuits if you break the promises that you ran on. Also a recall option and term limits.

Corps will always exist and if we do not allow them to grow then they will move to a country that will allow them to grow and as a country we will suffer because they will be able to import their products cheaper than what we can buy here because other companies will do the same thing.

The best way to combat big corps is to just not give them your money and education. Corps are only interested in making a profit, that is why they exist. You cannot delegate the power of deciding what corps to live to the government because we will end up with a corrupt government.

99% of people that run for office only want the power the peoples interest is not important to them, only gaining power and money is. We have to make provisions that stop the government from choosing favorites like they do now.

Corps will always try to buy the government no matter what. But it is a double edge sword because corps big and small is what creates jobs and economic growth. So you can't break down every company that the government thinks should be broken down and sold.

We all have to practice personal responsibility and watch the corps just as close as the government. Corruption is nothing new, and will always exist. It is up to us to stop it, not the government.

Your own intense hate is rather curious... don't you think?

Why is it that the last bastion of such profoundly asinine practices is the United States, how is it that they are so uniquely unaware of the almost universal cuckolding they receive from the well educated global elite at such profound lack of intellect and progress?

Your thread, promoting your own brand of hatred, uses a Biblical quote as a reference. In your case, another often-cited scripture about the casting of stones comes to mind.

This is the basic definition of Conservatism: refers to various political and social philosophies that support tradition and the status quo. So where in tradition and the status quo does Conspiracy get involved??? Just a question but I think many here are labeling themselves as conservatives when they clearly are not. Sicne by this defintion they wouldn't care for any conspiracy unless it offended their everyday lives.

Wow - just pointing out that ATS is breaching UK criminal laws regarding racism -

Just so you know what your face will look like in the paper

www.guardian.co.uk...

But thanks for making it CLEAR where you stand - and I doubt that - this person is talking about very specific events in Australia - and is talking about very specific legal events which I have intimate knowledge of - further the person is making racist remarks which have NO BEARING on the religion of those involved including their financial position, housing, treatment of women etc - it is so far over the top - read what is being written it is grotesque and only gets worse as the pages continue .....

Further ALL religious and racial hatred is an opinion - this just happens to be made up and extreme -

I will also point out that there is a very strong relationship with the legal team that is handling some of the events that the poster refers to - I feel this should give some indication of how seriously you need to take the egregious posts on that thread - I am merely trying to get ATS to show some semblance of regarding racial, religious hatred and vilification as SERIOUSLY as the legal systems of the jurisdiction in which this site operates.

So you know I am serious - the crime gangs involved in western Sydney are not Muslim but are tribal issues originating from the central middle east and are NOT religiously inspired, take that information as you will -

Audas,

I am glad I dont live in the UK and at one time I wanted to visit Australia. I no longer want to visit.

Crime gangs from central middle east...not religiously inspired?? Ok...!!

Interesting tack you take in pointing out what someone elses face will look like in newsprint. Do you think that is good debate technique??

One of the reasons I no longer have any interest in visiting the UK or Australia is that they are so intolerant of racism...that they have in fact become racist. They tolerate racism from some and not from others. This is exactly the tack our own government is soon to take if not already. And for votes and power. It is becoming obvioius to many Americans.

Race Hate and Bigotry are becoming watchwords for a policy by political parties to label others with whom they disagree..it is become a "default" setting and very predictable. A control mechanism against dissenting opinion. Like this computer ..it automatically goes there unless one knows how to change the settings.

Race, Hate, and Bigotry are become selectively applied at public expense...and for political reasons. In the end it will only serve to sell the very soul of a nation and its people. To substitute Government intolerance with another brand of intolearnce. But it will all be intolerance.

Much of what is happening in the UK and Australia in the name of tolerance is being suppressed here in the states for political reasons... for reasons determined by the politically aware editors of the Media.
Americans would be alarmed to know what is happening in these nations with regularity.

Audas,

The other word for government sponsored racism of the kind you post as fair and balanced...is guilt politics. This is also a default setting to be allowed to play through on the automatic guilt of others. Some are automatically because of their beliefs..their race ..their sex..or some other paradigm that the body politics want to apply to them.
One sees this alot on ATS/BTS..as a default setting to play through unquestioned and unchallanged. No dissenting opinion tolerated...or the labels come out immediately. It is a program and many do not even know they are using it. So little thinking going on ..only emoting like you are doing here.

Some Americans are begining to catch on to this and identify it to others. We are not interested in guilt politics to default through on the public purse...no matter what politial party is in office.
We do not approve of this kind of drama technique...by anyone.
And we are aware that this false tolrance/guilt technique is being taught in public schools...as the very "tolerant " government finances public education.

We will make up our own minds thank you.

When you come right down to it, partisan politics is the side show. It would be ok if each side presented views based purely upon logic and need. However, in most cases, it's merely "I'm OK, You're Not". with apologies to Dr. Tom Harris.

You know what is so funny about this. Is that the right is trying to tout Palin as the queen bee of gop. Yet, she is greatly outspoken on the health care reform.
Yet, she was the governor of AK, that has no taxes, because they heavily tax the oil industry.

alaska and big oil

And, I don't think the oil companies are hurting any.

Seeing how corporations like the various Tea Companies established colonies and administered them as if they were the soverign, I would say our Founders were more than aware of corporations as well as the potential that they could be as powerful to be a surrogate of a state or even a de-facto state itself.

I'm thinking of things like the Dutch India Tea Company or similiar sounding entities.. i dont feel like looking it up, memory is a little hazy.

Which 'right' would that be? Every conservative person i know understands that Palin's political career is over. She screwed up. She's now a 1/2 term gov. who bailed before finishing the job she was elected to do. NO conservative I know even remotely considers Palin to have any kind of significant political future. She blew it.

She couldn't do her job because she was targetted for destruction by the Left.

I really dont understand people who fail to acknoweldge this.

They used the Ethics complaint process to bring the executive branch of Alaska to a stand-still.

She had achieved most of things from the platform that she ran on. There was no reason to stay merely to run out a clock.

These government positions are there for the purpose of advancing the issues of society. They are not primarily there to be notches on someone's CV. If the State is better served by someone stepping down and they do so, then they made the honorable choice.

Palin shows a lot more sense , clear-thinking, and understanding of America than Obama, Stretch Pelosi and Reid combined and for that , she's vastly more qualified for Obama's job than Obama.

Most Republicans I knew considered her career over the second the GOB decided a Dinosaur and a Half Wit would be the best opposition to the Democrats.

People also seem to forget there are two different "conservatives" in America.

Religious Conservative (which politically are often Socialist)

Constitutional Conservatives (which has nothing to do with Religion and was the original Republican doctrine)

Anyways. I am shocked this thread has gone on so long.. have we decided whether or not the site is completely over run by crazy conservatives?

She was targetted, but she could have continued to do her job. They weren't stopping her AND many others have been targetted but have been able to do their jobs just fine.

I really dont understand people who fail to acknoweldge this.

She screwed up. She killed her career.
I really don't understand people who fail to acknowledge this.

She had achieved most of things from the platform that she ran on. There was no reason to stay merely to run out a clock.

She wasn't staying 'merely to run out a clock'. She had a long time left to her term. The people elected her to do the job so she should have stayed and she should have figured out ways to get more done.

Instead of finishing the job she was elected to do and finding ways to get the job done during difficult times, she now is a quitter who couldn't hack the big times. Instead of being a potential VP or POTUS candidate, she's got no serious political career - and rightly so considering how she handled the situation.

she's vastly more qualified for Obama's job than Obama.

I absolutely agree with that.

As was stated by management ... it's not. This site is completely over run by 'crazy' Constitution and freedom loving people who are against ANYONE who is in office and who abuses their power (and who lies). (which pretty much means just about every stink'n politician out there ... democrat or republican).

You are completely correct, it's those darn Republicans that just ruin everything, but we can't expect any better out of them. If only they were more like the left wing Democrats! If they could be, we would be living in a utopia! We'd have flying cars, grapes the size of watermelons, and free energy! If the Republicans were more like the left wing Democrats, there would be no more gun related deaths because they'd take them all away. There would be no more hurt feelings, and everybodys self esteem would soar because they would throw out the first amendment. The government would run like a well oiled machine because they would make it a requirment to pass an intelligence test, and be a member of the Democratic party in order to vote.

Yes, those Republicans only cause trouble. It's like that everywhere they go.

ATS is neither "right-wing", nor "left-wing", but I can see your thoughts are sure trying to drive people to be devisive.

ATS has always been about the truth, and to "Deny Ignorance".

Are You "Right-Wing Fringe", or "Left-Wing Fringe" and How Will They Push You

Have you denied ignorance today?

Palin is the latter, not the former.

It's only because of the relentless smear campaign against her that her brand of conservativism has been obscured by the lies.

Gosh, what a shock!

nojoker13, in future, if you want your future posts to be inundated with stars and flags, you've got to learn to tell people what they want to hear, not what they need to.

It appears I was one of the few who S&F'd you. I'll probably be ostracized for doing so. Ah what the hell ;-)
