This is just a snippet of the info out there. And the testing for STD's is even less conclusive. Have you even watched a porn in the last 15 years? NONE of them hardly wear condoms. I can't imagine all the STD's that go on in that industry. Let alone hepatitis. It's disgusting. The article even said the producers wanted the actors to wear condoms but the "fans" rebelled. LOL. Please don't try to defend the cleanliness of the porn industry. It would be like saying WallStreet is responsible at policing itself.

What is considered mainstream porn is hardly Spice channel material or HBO afterhours adult movies. If I have to point that out to you, then you really are not aware of what goes on in the porn industry or what young people are watching or what grown men are secretly watching when their wives go to sleep at night. It's a sick and disgusting industry. And you want to legalize an equally disgusting industry? That's not trolling. That's an honest argument.

Just to throw my opinion in about prostitution & whatnot, because I know a tiny bit about it.. Well, not actual prostitution but the 'adult' industry.

I never thought I would have friends who were in this sort of industry, but two of my very good friends are lap dancers, and another has been in the porn industry for around a year. I think the adult industry gets a bad rep that it doesnt deserve. It has its seedy/skanky side, but you've got to remember that the media is only interested in reporting the bad stuff.

My friends who are lapdancers are pretty high up in terms of how much they earn and the clubs they can work at. They tend to work 2/3 nights a week and come back with anything from £500 to £1500. The clubs they work at are pretty classy and the girls arent forced into doing anything, and they have the say on whether they do a dance for someone or not.
I remember something funny one of them once told me - most clubs tend to have private booths where you pay a little extra to get a completely private dance (with bouncers stood just outside & cctv cameras inside the booths obv) for 15 minutes. And according to her the vast majority of the time, guys pay for these private dances and then they just end up wanting to sit and talk. Actually thats probably more sad than funny, must be some lonely guys out there.

And my other friend who's now in the porn industry, she used to be a lapdancer and when she did make the jump from lapdancing to porn she dragged us along to check it out, and the first time she filmed a scene... now THAT was an eye opener!!
And from what I saw and heard, the porn industry seems to be built alot on your reputation. I dont know about the low budget crappy companies, but the one's my friend has worked for are ridiculously strict about sexual health. Everytime she goes to work she has to have a doctors note saying that she's free from STD's, and that the test has been performed within a month of the day of filming. Its not foolproof, but its probably safer being in the porn industry then it is just going to a club and sleeping around with whoever.
So yea, if she did happen to infect anyone with anything... her reputation would be shot to hell, and she wouldnt actually be able to get any work.

I know that pornography is big business. Billions. I also know that there are a lot of people out there that consider that a form of cheating on your spouse. Just like anything else, there are extremes and lots of different opinions. I also know that some couples watch it together, that's on them. The interesting thing to me in this latest exchange is how it relates to cheating. It seems to me that there are all sorts of ways to not give your partner the attention they deserve or require. It also seems that there are plenty of ways to not HAVE a partner, if that's what you're after.

Although I have done a lot of things, I would probably be considered prudish by a lot of folks, but that's ok too.

It's part of my learning and growing experience, but I would be livid if my daughter wanted to take part in the world's oldest profession. I know that it's MY weakness and lack of acceptance that makers me feel that way. I can't help but take a very strong, emotional stance there.

Perhaps that is related to the programming. I don't know yet. I have to admit that I am still really having a hard time agreeing with EVERYONE.

It is nice for him, because now he can fantasize about women he see's that gets him, and I can let my feelings about one of my co-workers out without ever risking his 'normal' marriage.

Long story short, you are not alone, and me and my husband are a very happy couple indeed. We love each other very much, and despite what most may think, sex is just a fun pastime to us. Our hearts are not connected to our 'members', and through and through we are together stronger in love every day *and every night*.

And there's chemicals in our food, waste in our waters, we're destroying the earth more with every passing day, the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

That's your point, right? That's basically what's been coming across in the posts you've contributed to this discussion.

Sure there's sick porn out there, just as there are sick PEOPLE out there. But not ALL porn is that way, and not ALL people are that way. Get the point?

It is YOUR OPINION that prostitution is sick and disgusting. it is not EVERYONEs opinion that it is. It is YOUR OPINION that ALL porn is sick and disgusting, but it is not everyone's.

Get it into your head, when you're kids become adults, you may not like what they do but you're not going to choice in the matter. So you can either remain an angry and intolerant parent at them who from the sounds of it would probably disown them for it or you can be a decent parent and remain there for them. You don't have to agree with what they do but you should respect their choice.

I have to ask, where does all this hatred and anger come from ? Are you stuck in an unhappy relationship ? Or are you just frustrated because you don't have one at all and there's all these swingers not with one partner but multiple partners and you're stuck at home, alone with noone but your disgusting porn to look at ?

I would never disown my children for anything. But I also have confidence in myself as a parent that my kids will have enough respect, honor, and knowledge to make healthy decisions in their life. And I would hope to god that I would teach them to find a balance in life and not everything is about sex and pleasure.

And I'm not angry. I just find it sickening that when you take a look at how screwed up kids are in American society there are several of you advocating prostitution and pornography as healthy aspects of society.

Porn today is far more intense, far more accessible, far more violent, and, yes, far more chauvinistic than anything we've had before, and we as a society are in denial. Pornography is now cool, and nobody dares transgress almighty cool. Somehow porn has progressed from the domain of dark-sunglasses-and trenchcoat-wearing loners to movie stars and A-list entertainers. Today it is cool for the male mind to gorge on the objectification of women, and decidedly uncool for women to complain.

Completely degrading to women who earn a shed load of money, work hard to get where they are in terms of reputation and networking.. and work hard at keeping themselves in shape?
I think if anything, you could accuse women in the porn industry of exploiting mens need to watch porn & play out their fantasies.
I hate all this equality bs, its gone too far. Its like saying being a housewife is degrading. Its a choice, the point where it becomes degrading is if it isnt what you want to do with your life.

Sure there's alot of messed up porn especially the water sports/scat stuff but I've never watched it, apart from 30 secs of 2girls1cup out of curiosity of its popularity on the net which made me physically hurl it was so disgusting.

However, women are not forced into doing that crap (no pun intended) and it is their choice, there's alot of bizarre fetishes in the world, most have been around for god only knows how many years if people want to partake in such bizarre (to me at least) activities then it is entirely their choice. Who am I to stop them from doing it if they enjoy it ? Who are you to stop them ?

Porn has been around since before the Romans, it's nothing new and certainly should not be taboo (ok maybe some of the extreme fetish stuff should be), people cannot help what they get turned on by, just like they cannot choose what food they like, it is something you either like or don't but I won't judge someone because of their sexual preferences no matter how bizarre it may be to myself because I can accept everyone is different and one persons desire is anothers disgust.

I have no choice if my kids grow up and decide to enter the adult industry it's entirely up to them, just as I will not wish to know about their sex life, as long as they are happy in life then I will be content for them and their choices. All I can teach my kids is with every action there is a consequence and for them to think things through before commiting to anything and that if it's a mistake for them to learn from it and I hope they will stick to that!

I'm all for experimenting in life though and trying new things even when it comes to sex, however I do have my limits and the extreme stuff doesn't interest me, bondage is probably the furthest I have ventured from the "norm" and I don't feel/want to venture any further as the more freaky stuff does not interest me. The same applies with swinging, I have thought about but the idea of sharing a loved one with someone else I just couldn't do as I'm too possessive and would get jealous, if we weren't serious however it could be an option, but each to their own, whatever floats your boat and all that jazz.

Simply put, I don't judge people for their tastes and shame on you for doing so!

First off, it usually happens to people before they know it. No one wakes up and says: I am going to have an affair today. It usually starts off innocently.Then it progresses to more. By that time they have compartmentalized to keep carrying it through.

You are seeing it through a simple pair of glasses,that you love someone, therefor how do you look at someone else?

But this isn't a simple one year relationship. Marriage is complicated, and hard. When you are married to someone for several years, and all of life's stressors are piled on, you don't see a marriage or a spouse anymore, you just see the institution you have created. It becomes automatic. You talk about the mortgage, you discuss what car your gonna buy. You go on autopilot.And it is about there that people tend to get lost.

In fact, it usualy takes infidelity to snap a person back and realize that they have a marriage to someoen they really would like to keep, and continue to work on and start nurturing again.

sometimes it can be as simple as a person who has a battered self esteem, who keeps looking for attention from one partner after another to try to build up their self worth.

Thanks belle, I totally agree, but I am not a woman. IMHO, a woman is always (excluding rape) in complete control over sex. The When, the Who, the How, etc. It seems very empowering to me. Even in a porn scenario, the woman is "allowing" the men to do certain things to her, and she can stop it, or take it as far as she wants. She is in complete control at all times, and the men are literally begging for more and more! How is that degrading? The positions may seem to force the woman into submissive positions, but in reality, if she stops the whole thing, the men are left standing around with their stuff in their hands looking pretty stupid!

I would say that empowered and confident women are more prevalent in sex industry than anywhere else! (Of course, for Zoyn, this excludes streetwalkers, drug addicts, and rapes.)
