Both.. what ever is required by the Constition nothing more nothing less. How can as the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who by the way had to be approved to be Enlisted Persons. part of that process is a citizenship qualifications... you dont qualify you dont get the govt job.
and say to all those people that your president didnt even prove he was American and about 20 other requirements he has refused and had Lawyers Block all attempts at basically, learning who this gentalmen is.... His birth Certificate is only one of things he has not produced, I posted all the things that were blocked from disclosure... its here on ATS... dig it up.

I don't care where he was born but seriously wonder about those who do.

Does place of birth make someone good for the job or does ability?

The whole 'born in the USA' thing is just silly childish racism IMO and I thin americans should be ashamed of it being in their constitution and get it changed asap. Imagine a brilliant potential president and a complete dork. But one was born on a plane over the Atlantic whilst the other was born in New York. Would you really demand that one could not be your president? Why?

Clueless!
Here's what you get with a public education.

The Constitution of this country is what gave it rise to become the greatest nation on Earth! I care not one whit what you think of our founding document. However, my grandfather, uncles and cousins who have fought and died in wars to defend it and uphold it do and those that hold dear their trials and sacrifices do as well.

It is not racist or otherwise to demand that the leader of your country be natural born citizen. Do you even know what "Racist" means? It matters not if you are Asian, African, American Indian, Hispanic or otherwise - it simply requires that you were born here! If this asic concept escapes you then I will not waste my time trying to explain to you the sheer brilliance set forth in that one single requirement!

JEEEESH!

I think the real question should be "Who gives a damn?"

This has to be the most irrelevant conspiracy theory ever.

If Obama is the puppet of the almighty NWO and/or the Antichrist it should be well within their means to fake a birth certificate as well as get a doctor to testify under oath that he delivered him.

If he is not I would assume that the FBI/Secret Service/CIA does fairly thorough background checks on any presidential candidate and would have caught on to it & exposed it long ago.

It is a revelation that whether this is a technicality or a major security issue or other somewhere in between, that since the alternative is giving Biden the helm until things are sorted out, a case may be made that the law is arbitrary and could be interpreted such that there is no usurping at all.

And then where do you go?
The Philadelphia Supreme Court? Not a chance.
It's over before it begins.

I would bet that if heard, a decision in the highest Court would be 5-4, the majority upholding his eligibility.

The question is beyond stupid, beyond vapid and borders on moronic. President Barack Obama is a US Citizen. It has been verified to the satisfaction of anyone with even the most rudimentary critical thinking skills. So now We the People have spoken and you've got a (GASP!!
) black man with a funny name as POTUS. Get over it already.

[edit on 11-7-2009 by Lilitu]

It is quite stupid and moronic to ask questions, and get no real answers. Most of the time you have people whose only defense is to play the race/creed card. Just as if either matter! The whole matter could be resolved quite simply. Show his origional passport and the date it was issued. You can't get a passport without your origional Certificate of Live birth,or your previous country's passport. Problem solved!!!!!

If you mean to tell me that the THE CLINTON POLITICAL machine did not make this known during the primaries?

NOT VERY LIKELY -

Great! Then let's get on with it. Allow discovery, present the evidence and allow this great country and it's citizens their due process and redress of their grievances. What's the hold up?

I mean, since he is a citizen, or so I'm told, he should have no problem getting the case dismissed by simply submitting his real Birth Certificate as defense evidence item 1! I mean, he has promised to be the most transparent administration ever.

A poll is not a debate.

State your opinion (opinion poll) and move on.

...& No, I believe not.

I find it amazing and rather disturbing that Americans are more interested in where their president was born than how good and competent he is .......

Edit: as a stupid Englishman, maybe someone could explain why being born in the USA makes you a better president as opposed to someone born elsewhere but raised in the USA?

My "working model" is that he's a legal citizen.

Only because from what I've seen the 'proofs' against his American citizenship don't hold up. If he was born in Hawai'i then the claims his father was of Kenyan/English descent don't matter. From personal experience, if you're born somewhere, regardless of your parents citizenship you can claim that country as your home country.

I think it's up for debate but I haven't seen any significant proof yet.

On a personal note, a friend of mine was born in an airplane over the Atlantic ocean, over international waters. He has duel citizenship with England and U.S. because those were the departure and destination; he had the right to choose either one, or both.

I don't get how people can say it doesn't matter. It matters and it matters a lot.

I personally think he is a natural citizen but people unwilling to even admit it matters, ha. That may be a bigger problem.

This is not really a debate about his birthplace, simply as a matter of fact. It's about that if he IS NOT a U.S. citizen we can kick him out of office!

REPLY TO THE OP

Well, you little flag-tart, you.

I think what you meant to ask is how many believe he is a natural born citizen, as that is the crux of the ongoing-not-gonna-go-away-Obama-issue.

I think it's fairly evident that he is a U.S. Citizen, although I confess I've never personally seen his passport, nor do I expect to do so.

edit because reply function ......... didn't.

Let's start a new poll:

Who thinks this is the most pointless thread on ATS at the moment. You couldn't have contributed to one out of 100 threads on here about Obama's citizenship?

And it doesn't matter anymore if he is or not....he's not going anywhere....

Wow that's important AND not accurate per several tenets; no FOIA action was granted (It was a group called "Americans for Freedom of Information" which apparently doesn't exist), no AP article was published.

here's a link and citation

It has come to the attention of the staff that an informal poll via flags is being conducted. This thread will be temporarily closed and placed under staff review.

lemme issue this very valid point. If Nobama is indeed a legal citizen, why then does he refuse to show his long form birth certificate stating hospital born in, doctor delivering, etc? no long form, he only shows short form, which in the state of hawaii any child under the age of 2 can receive.

why has Nobama used numerous social security numbers?

he is not a citizen, he is a clone. and I do not appreciate him turning the USA into the United Socialist States of America. USSA for short
