I provide ten's of sources, you provide none.

Life or death situations could be used for those rare occasions, for instance I was given 2 tylenol 3's when I got my Wisdom Teeth out. And they worked, but I would never just eat a Tylenol at home cause something didn't feel right. The over use of these drugs makes them less useful when you actually need them.

When someones back gets sore, instead of strengthening the back and stretching it properly to solve the cause of the pain, they take a pain reliever prescription or over the counter medication. I call it the "Band-aid on the broken leg syndrome", temporarily remove the symptom while the cause gets worse.

If I had to I could list 100 sources that say that prescription pain relievers can and are hell on earth for some users. Oxycotin being one of them, or as it's known on the street, synthetic heroin.

The profit that comes from all of the things I have listed forces these products onto us, regardless of their safety.

Did you even both to read the source about how much the Prescription drug industry spends on lobbyists? Or was that just another inane fact? They employ the largest group of lobbyists on earth, and you think our best interest is in their mind?

Did you try and support artificial sweeteners as safe when they are widely known to be unsafe? Multiple studies highlighting how unsafe they are and how they often cause terrible adverse reactions? You debate over 90 side effects of Aspartame alone?

Get over it. The reason people are starring and flagging is cause its valid information backed up by extensive sourcing. The reason why no one is going to star your post is cause it was completely illogical and backed up by nothing but your ranting word.

Then after all your mindless ranting, you finally got on with contributing several great points that are also factors in deteriorating health. The 7 listed items are not everything, the list is huge and its all unnecessary. How it's an appalling thread, I have no idea.

Oxycotin being one of them, or as it's known on the street, synthetic heroin.

Oxytocin is a natural hormone produced by a woman during child birth.

All one has to do to see hwo utterly ridiculous your carte blanche assertions are is to consider the impact of NOT using pain killers the next time one goes to the dentist -

Edit - ignored.
end of debate.

Thank you
It means a lot. Since I was made aware of this information I've been meaning to discuss it in a thread on here but never got the time. You seem to have paved the way

Thanks for bringing this issue into a brighter light. It's something that needs to happen on a larger scale.

Wait, I don't use 6 out of 7 of those things often.

(for instance, I only wash my hands after I create fecal matter or after I am exposed to something that has fecal matter)

and yet, I don't think that clearly, I'm not particularly happy (though I'm not unhappy either... so I guess I'm content)

oh wait... I forget I'm a huge pot head. there goes my clear thinking! (although when under-the influence I do seem to be able to concentrate on certain tasks better)

Fantastic post, I've always had an interest in the "machinery" of both food and medicine in the modern world since becoming sick a few years ago with various symptoms, the best way to describe this was I just felt "poisoned" and just wanted to isolate the cause. A round of neverending visits to endocrine, blood and other specialists resulted in an (incorrect) diagnosis of a renal condition. After this doctors just gave up, told me they didnt know what I was suffering and prescribed varying antibiotics etc that made the condition worse. Anyway - the point of my post is that eventually I saw a naturopath who took me through a thorough diagnosis of all my symptoms, lifestyle and illness history and correctly determined that most of the symptoms were due to a chronic magnesium deficiency (another vital mineral that is unfortunately often lacking in our overfarmed soils), lactose intolerance, and an imbalance of necessary bacteria in the gut. Sure enough, regular doses of magnesium and a slippery elm based powder cleared ALL symptoms within a week, obviously I eat no dairy products either. I also take spirulina regularly - with noticable positive effects on my general energy, well being and mental acuity. Simply - the longer I've taken these simple supplements, cut out dairy and most processed food, the healthier I've become and I rarely get colds, flus and other illnesses that affect people I'm in contact with. The OP makes valid points regarding the medical industry - why would a multibillion $$ industry WANT you to be cured?

You left out a biggie. Time!

But seriously, apart from the alarmist title to the thread, avoiding these things are not going to grant you immortality, the focus should be on the quality, not the quantity of life achieved.

On the other hand, the products you mentioned do have a good chance of reducing both lifes quantity *and* quality. Perhaps that's a fair trade-off.

Anyway, star for the OP, at the very least, I feel that any effort to make people consider what they put into their bodies (and, especially, what the government dictates should be put into your bodies -- flouride) should be lauded.

Well you pointed out some toxic stuff that i didn't really know about.
But what can we really do sure we come here frustrated and talk how bad it is but yet we close the browser and we go back to sleep and still use what they are giving us
.
If at least 500.000 people from around the globe would unite and say no to something they would listen to us.
But guess what that wont happen because they are all sleeping we are all sleeping.
The more awake and aware you are the more you realise how powerless you are.
We deserve to be poisoned because we allow it because we give them the power to do it.
We take everything from the earth like ruthless barbarians and never give anything back.
If humanity wont unite and wake the hell up we really deserve to die.
If things are this bad here on earth makes you wonder whats the situation above the earth

well whether fluoride makes us "docile" or not, it's said that it makes it lethargic, apathetic, and lazy as well. and Hitler probably didn't use it - Stalin did!

and if none of that's true, then i know for a fact it calcifies your pineal gland, your "third eye"...

if you don't believe me, stop all fluoride intake for a few weeks (tea, soda, baking powders, anything on this list), and tell me if your dreams aren't more vivid, clear, memorable, and lucid!

as for links, well this just came out:
"Professional Perspectives on Water Fluoridation"

also, just search ATS for "fluoride" or "fluoridation"!

i've got a few anti-fluoride threads of my own...
What can I do to keep my pineal gland in pristine condition?
Fluoridation's Early Trials Were Tainted!!
"Dr. Cluck's" Fluoridation Fact Sheet

and, don't forget to check out www.fluoridealert.org... !!

oh almost forgot - while we're on the subject of toxic chemicals, everyone needs to check out the Toxic Overload thread!!

From my own research I agree with this post, fluoride is bad news, in fact it does absolutely nothing to help teeth. Google "children's teeth, rat poising" see what comes up, thats what fluoride was classified as.

I've studied the subjects a bit, and have taken measures to avoid all that stuff.

And I've been trying to educate friends and family, but the usual response is, yeah, right, if those things where dangerous/not good for you, then the government and health officials would have banned them, or stopped recommending them.

Yeah... that's how it works...

But recently, I've been eating potato chips, drinking soft drinks, and eating processed food, because, well, a lack of lust for life, so I kinda thought, to hell with it.

But this was just the reminder I needed to start eating all organic foods, quit the sugar and additives, and regain better health.

I'm lucky enough to be able to grow some food myself, and I've got my own well with water, so I really have no excuses to poison my body and mind.

I thank you, OP, for reminding me of these issues.

Great post!

Now I'm off to place som snacks and drinks in the bin.

I urge others to take these matters seriously, research them for yourselves, and take control of your health and mind potential.

That's a really good way to alienate people (your religion comment). In a post such as this, the purpose of which is to bring us all together to look at this knowledge objectively, you feel the need to essentially ostricize a certain group. Lol, oh well.
It did kind of seem like you were "in the zone" if you will, and i'll assume no ill-intent, however short-sighted.
I'm obviously insane, but snf, for what it's worth

water fluoridation is certainly NOT for water treatment purposes - it's only for treating YOU!

Excellent, top class, best thread I think I have ever read on ATS. Very nice.
Wow. All in one place. Yes. S+F.

Nice work man, S+F for that.

The fluoride issue to be honest does bother me some, but then again I drink tap water on a regular almost daily basis (although I really should find out if my water authority does put it in, not all do I believe).

I also drink water from plastic bottles... I don't keep using the bottles much, maybe 2 or 3 refills max, I once worked with a guy and I stuck a label on his water bottle and when after about 3 weeks I saw traces of the same label with a stuped joke on it I told him I'm not sure if that is really very healty - he had not even given it a thought, but he was super fit and not too bright!

Oh and 1/10th of an once of a lot of stuff is a lethal dose of a lot of stuff... For instance tobacco which I smoke at least 5 times a day, should I decide to eat a 20 pack in one go I would be very very ill, should I actually consume 1/10th of an once of the actual nicotine then sure as eggs is eggs I would be really dead
not saying that smoking is a good idea
just saying really.

Great thread. Thanks.

Kinda ties in with a thread I started a little while ago....

Database Of All The Toxins In Your Cosmetics And Personal Care Products

Really useful, if slightly scary database that informs us of the nasties they put in things and what effect they can have.

Be smart people..less is more.

Cheers

This would explain why I start feeling queezy after a few gulps of bottled water as opposed to tap, though both seem bad. Always found it odd.

I only get even the small symptoms like a cough about once a year since I let my immune system do it's job on it's own. Never use that anti bacterial soap either, you'll be begging to get sick.

I did a presentation in applied psychology about the beginning of fluoridation in America. Edward Bernays, nephew of good ol' Siggy Freud was paid off by ALCOA (aluminium company of America) to convince the public that fluoridated water was a good thing. He used the professional third party opinions of dentists that said fluoride was good for the teeth [snip]-in dental procedures. Ingesting it regularly leads to all kinds of toxicity problems from gradual build-up.

Just curious if you have ever looked into the claims that microwave cooking is detrimental to one's health?

I'll tell you what kills us.....living!

It always amuses me when I see people talking about "prevention".

"It's a shame,I tell ya.Jim avoided MSG,Fluoride and all that other stuff, but he just couldn't avoid getting hit by that bus....Go Figure!"

Seriously. Why not include Swine Flu,car wrecks, cancer, and any other multitude of crap that kills us.
