This was one of the best short stories in a long timeee (no offence to the others) (in my opinion of course)
You should make a a pt.2 of this! I dunno like how the world leaders react, how a civil war happens , how religious fanatics think its god that saves them lol

Hey what can I say, I have a sick sense of humor.

Now of course if it really happened I wouldn't laugh.

But bringing Oprah into it was a cool touch.

Did I just see some hostility toward the author of this hillarious story? hmmm?
Lighten up folks this is just a portrayal of an event and none of us actually know what may or may not happen.

I found this story to be extremely well put together and sounds more believable than the official 9/11 story.

I do wonder though why the wealthiest among us want all of the food and gold if we are doomed to an untimely 2012 demise. and I wonder what do their personal professors tell them will happen in the years to come on planet Earth.

Well it is almost upon us.

Great read Flatwoods

Holy crap, send the script to Hollywood!

That was the best post I've read in a loooooong time!

If I hadn't been in my cushy expensive chair at work, I'd have peed my pants when Oprah stepped in to save the world ...

You definitely deserve the writer status!
Very well done. I am glad I found this today too since I was mentioning to a friend that all conspiracies seem to be, well, horrible and just awful in some way. Anyone know of any good conspiracies? DIDN'T THINK SO!

Anyway this is a welcome change of topic. I needed some humor seriously. S&F!

Great stuff...but one question...

Did Abba get to play?

Waiting patiently for the sequel

It means Situation X Writing Contest.

There's still lots of time before it ends on April 30.

Situation X writing contest. You can read about it here and write a story to enter the contest.

All who enter get writers status and there is still plenty of time to dream up a story.

Hope that helps,

wupy

That was superb mate. Sheer class.

Of course you do know that you've scared off any noob like me from attempting an entry!

But then again that gives me an idea...

Dobbs, Cooper and Blitzer- faces every person who has a TV knows as well, or even better, than their next-door neighbour are a perfect opening to this wonderful story. I can almost hear each one of them as they talk... the best news gathering team on television, yada yada.

It's the use of these characters which built an aura of 'truthiness' to your readers that no other characters could have pulled off. None!

Your story has the end of the world ala Prof Pouerpoint
, the Vatican dispensing ala texting and a Mayan mystery carving all dependent upon an intergalactic message to POTUS.

To top it all off, there's a happy ending!

Geez, what's NOT to like here?

I gotta ask... Flatwoods... you wouldn't happen to be a well-known American writer by the name of King? I doubt it, honestly, because you don't include snippets of classic rock lyrics much, but you're every bit as good as he is.

...and I'm not joking.

Well, that's a totally unsubstantiated critique.

Care to expand on WHY you give this story such a negaive rating?

Just curious.
