Underground Site Spotted in Nellis Bombing Range

I found this site on google earth. co-ordinates 36.897135, -116.045140 [atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/c7127ec8e4d2.jpg[/atsimg]

Notice that it is surrounded by double fences and has many light poles for night illumination. It looks to be a raised earthen roof with concrete retaining walls and tapered slopes on each end. You can see a vehicle on one of the "loading docks" on the front face. On the rear of the site it looks like one of the concrete slabs or raised concrete structures has been censored by a gray rectangle. If you look closely you can see there are no shadows of light poles on the gray rectangle like there are on the other surfaces.

This site looks like a super secure site in an already secure area. Look at the gates you have to go through just to enter it. Has anyone else seen this structure or know what it is? Go to the above co-ordinates to get a closer look and comment on what you see. Thanks.

Hey free, thanks for the reply. Just wondering if you can confirm that the rectangle in the GE view is censored or not. That's some serious security they got going on. I wonder if the double fence area is mined. How tall do you estimate that structure is? If you can answer, in what capacity were you able to be on site? Thanks

The funny thing is if they really wanted to be secure there would be no lights and they would depend on night vision and dogs

Neat find! It makes me wonder where all of the Half-life and midways area 51 games massive underground facilities are? My guess is they are all located at los alamos, lawrence livermore and sandia national labs. The military just contracts out of these facilities and deems what it wants a classification. Some things I can believe like the suit in the movie the predator as already developed, extreme forms of bio-warfare, and other little gadgets here and there, but portals to other dimensions and time travel and super beasts genetically engineered to kill everybody is just not the case. Of course thats just my opinion I could be wrong.

It looks like the Weapons Storage Area (WSA). Most former SAC and TAC bases had them built during the cold war. They were used to store the nuclear warheads that were not on alert. Very secure areas, and not recommended to go into unless one wants to eat the pavement for an hour while the SPs try to figure out what one is doing there.

If you want to see weapons storage, look at Area II at Nellis.

The well lit double fence is standard operating practice. Someone gets past the first fence, they enter the kill-zone.

If you enable the "Google Earth community", the DAF is marked. Now granted, many of the Google Earth community posts are wrong, but you can at least use them as a starting point.

The DAF is a common visual fix for Janet aircraft entering the range.

Yes, it is the DAF. It is pronounced daf, as in Daffy Duck. ;-) It is pointed out on the NTS tour, but you certainly don't get to see it.

I should reiterate that a good procedure before starting a thread on Google Earth would be to enable the Google Earth Community, read the comments, do an internet search on what was posted, and confirm or deny the validity of the Google Earth Community.

I can tell you that most of the NTS nuke test locations posted from Google Earth Community are wrong. In fact, many are not even on the test site, and the tests that were off the site are well documented. I have asked the guy in charge to remove the data, but as they say, the internet is the wild wild west. All you can really do is point out the data is wrong and hope that the other person has the intelligence to see your point and comply.

Note that the NTS has a "reading room" in Las Vegas. Over the years, the reading room has been moved more than a MX missile. It is presently at the Atomic Museum in Las Vegas. There are people there that have all the answers, and when they can't answer, they say so. I never got any BS there, though I had been given the run around regarding the new Yucca Lake runway. It was a lot more fun before they moved the reading room since I always had the place to myself whenever I visited. All those movie you find on the NTS website can be viewed in the reading room. I've watched most of the Broken Arrow videos and those on the TTR.

Back to those videos at the reading room, note that they are sanitized. Even though you can find the critical mass for nuclear weapons in books and all over the net (often correct too), they won't reveal such data on the videos. If you watch "Yuba City Broken Arrow", you can see a 3 star general pick his nose. ;-) I guess they didn't see the need to sanitize that!

I am just stating what it looks like to me. It does look like the WSF, and I have seen many of those in my military career. The OP was asking us what we thought, and I gave my opinion. I could be wrong, but it does not look very mysterious to me.

Sorry to take so lond to reply i've been a little busy.

I was an "escort" for lack of a clearer term.

I still have a clearance I have to keep, so I do apologize for being a bit bland with my answers. I'll see if I can come up with a few things for ya though.

Might take me a little bit as I am traveling between continents the next few months.
