Disclaimer: I'm a theist but not of the Abrahamic faiths. I have minor biblical scholar and scriptural skills. Also I am not a scientific/legal or medical expert in any field. Beware of my Contagious Memes! & watch out that you don't get cut on my Occams razor. All of this is my personal conjecture and should not be considered the absolute or most definitive state of things as they really are. Use this information at your own risk! I accept no liability if your ideology comes crashing down around you with accompanying consequences!

Explanation: Nearly every female I know either has massive concerns or just outright despises ATS/BTS. My G/F won't discuss anything on the site [she's both horrified and disgusted by it
] and my mums concerned about my mental health [ I have been known for putting in upwards of 100 hrs nonstop without sleep week after week into exploring the site and various forums as well as posting on this or that subject]. I have the same feelings as my G/F when it comes to her use of facebook or myspace
and I'm just as concerned about my mothers mental health because she's not able to explain in logical detail why I shouldn't be doing this! :shk:

Personal Disclosure:Basically they don't want to have their ignorance denied! Suits me just fine as the lack of arguments is a blessing!

AD, what's that funny browser you have that you need to type in the url?
I use Firefox and all frequently used sites are already there. You just gotta click! Elementary, Dr Watson!

Cheers!

I keep my ATS stuff Above Top Secret, lol!!

My sister may like this, but my mom and dad won't. My sister has a life so she may hate some of this.

My hubby doesn't hate it per se, he just thinks it's a waste of time mostly. There for awhile I was spending too much time reading threads on here and not enough time sleeping, or paying attention to him, so I ended up having to take a break for a few months and it doesn't bother him as much when I come here now. Basically I got the "it's either me or ATS" ultimatum. He calls it my conspiracy site, but has my youngest brother calling it my alien site which is odd since I never really go into the UFO/alien related threads.

His biggest complaint really is that he thinks that it's all a bunch of nonsense, but we have had several really good intellectual conversations after I mention something I read about or a viewpoint I hadn't considered before that I found here. I just have to keep away from military and political threads when he's around. Those tend to make him angry.

My husband doesn't really care that I go on here, he thinks it's all made up anyway, I think some is too, and some isn't. I told him going on here is like watching my favorite soaps, I don't watch TV and I hate soap operas, it's a joke between us. He is goes on Facebook everyday, and I detest that site. So I don't understand why she would hate you coming here?? If you are talking to other females you're usually debating with them. hahaha.

And that's how it starts. Today she doesn't want you visiting ATS, Tomorrow she'll be expecting you to take out the trash and put the toilet seat down.

Let me give you a bit of advice, Love is more important than any online forum. Finding the one you want to spend the rest of your life with is more magical than anything you will find here.

We can give you great conversation, she can give you children. Think about that.

If your life online is bringing you grief in the real world, You need to walk away from your life online.

Your real life is too important to just let it pass by.

Besides, we'll still be here in a few years when she's telling you to sign online and just leave her the hell alone.

Before you take that advice though I suppose I should tell you, I've been divorced for a very long time.

Love and light,

wupy

Everything you just wrote right there is a huge factor in why our spouses, GF/BF's and fiances get pissed when we come on, because we ignore them. I don't ignore my husband or my kids at all. I come on for the 45 minutes in the morning, and sometimes I'll come on i the afternoon, if I am not at work or busy with real life! weekends are different I do spend an hour or two again if I am not working reading this forum. My husband is usually on his crappy facebook, and checking email. We also know when to call it quits and hang out with each other. We know how to balance our internet and real lives.

I too have noticed that on ATS/BTS...one often gets informations and news at a two to three day head start than what breaks on the local news.
I find this very interesting.

I don't remember from whence is the source but there is some kind of axiom that goes...when truth is stranger than fiction ..print the fiction.

Many people do not like reality or different ideas and concepts to interfere with their pet beliefs or security blankets..so to speak.

People who are very security oriented are like this and don't enjoy any kind of questioning attitude or informations to the contrary. These folks tend to prefer the dogma..ignorance is bliss.

They tend to dream of beautiful things ...and that they are surrounded by beautiful things ...they are in the middle of beautiful things....even if this surrounding is very artificial. They abhor anything they perceive as a threat to this world of artificial beauty. Thinking or questioning of anything outside of this beautiful artificialness is an anathema to them.

I have told many a women that I am not interested in their insecurities in this arena. Do not expect or take for granted that I am going to change or give up certain of my values or beliefs for their insecurities. Their insecurities are not a good trade off for my beliefs. I am not interested in running touchdowns for a women's insecurities or picking up on their clues and cues to change for their insecurities. They need to work on their own insecurities ..not me. If a woman or man is threatened by something like ATS/BTS I have to ask myself how shallow or vain they really are??
You can translate that to mean how controlling to they need to be to get someone else to support their insecurities.

For many on ATS/BTS it is quite the contrary. Many here have the questioning attitude and are looking for answers and don't find the standard outlets for news and informations to be satisfactory.

By the way..like many here I do not frequent the UFO sites. Little interest in it. But that is just me. There is room for lots of different types on this forum. That is one of the things I like about ATS/BTS.

Thanks to all for thier posts,
Orangetom

Maybe she doesn't like it because she is scared. I used to be really scared about conspiracies and stuff similar.

Hope it all works out.

This is exactly what I see in my wife when I talk about this. She is one that would rather keep the wool over her eyes as everything comes crashing down. That is not a slam on her. She is simply scared and doesn't like to talk about it. I believe that having 3 kids is a HUGE factor in this. So, she doesn't exactly dislike me participating on this site. It's more about keeping my work at work or my CTs with the CTers.

My wife is a psychologist and she does not know I visit this site. She supects online porn instead, which is better in my mind. I fear that she, like most in the establishment see this site as a hangout for the socially isolated and mentally unstable, which only feeds into their existing delusions of paranoia.

It is not really possible to hide knowledge or enlighentment when it happens, only how it came about. So running concurrently to this exploration, I've got my God card. I've told her I'm seaching for evidence of Intelligent Design
