Texas joins the club of States telling the Federal Government to Stand Down

This isn't a bill, it's a non-binding resolution. It doesn't create any legal obligations on anyone or anything. It's basically just a way for the Legislature to say "we agree with this statement."

Heck, the Texas Legislature once passed a resolution honoring the Boston Strangler: www.snopes.com...

As a "outsider" do I know more about US history or I was misinformed. To my knowledge - Texas NEVER was legally part of the Union. Texas never sign to be a part of the Union. Texas was Annexed and that it is a direct violation of Constitution of US. Am I wrong on this one?.

Since several states are drawing lines in the sand against the Federal Government, they must see something big coming that I don't. I mean, I'm a smart guy and all, but apart from illegal wars, the trashing of the Constitution on too many counts to list, and economic collapse, what am I missing?

We are witnessing (I hope) the beginning of a show down between the states and the Federal Government. It seems the Federal Government only receives it's power from the United States not the other way around. As well as the Federal Government receiving it's power from the States, that power is bound by the Constitution of the United States. Obviously the Federal Government has over stepped it's bounds in that regard for decades now by allowing the Federal Reserve, Gun Control, Patriot Act, etc. etc.

What I see here is now with an impending economic collapse the threat of Martial Law is good and those educated in history and with good moral standing with in the state's governments can see the writing on the wall and are beginning to say enough is enough.

No you are absolutely correct. The Constitution prohibits annexation of a Sovereign Nation such as Texas was at the time. However this was over looked because of the large chunk of land that was annexed that was seen as necessary for the goal of expansion.

Indeed, this stuff is as strong as tissue paper in the rain. Totally without teeth or resolve. Hardly even news worthy in my opinion.

May take has been Perry rode on Bush's coat tail with the rural folks. The trans Texas corridor really upset many here. If enough people pay attention I think his time is up. My fear is that too many people are so apathetic that they will just vote for him again because he is the incumbent.

Some people's heads are to thick for sense to leak in.

States are sick of the feds thinking they run the show for them and passing all sorts of horrible legislature. Where as the feds are elected to serve the will of the people and the state. Politicians in your country mostly seem to think they're there for their own doing, not following the will of the people.

It's about time they all got a tune up and realized that it's YOUR MONEY and that they're supposed to listen to YOU when they spend it. Amongst many other things...

Look at the illegal immigration bills... 5x shot down now and they're trying again contrary to the will of you, the people. The people who pay for them to sit in their leather chairs and whom have put them in power. Makes me so mad.

You hit the nail on the Head!

If you really care, god I hope you do, take three hours out of your life and watch "The Money Masters". This has the most to do with anything. This is what is causing our problems, has the Congress under their greedy grip, and would love to trash the whole Constitution. The states taking their rightfull place is the only way besides a bloody battle by citizens running around with their head chopped off trying to over through the govt.

I view it as more of a beginning and also somewhat testing the waters. Something to see how many people are on board with this. If this type of language gets strong backing from the Texas constituents then they will be empowered to carry it further. I view our elected officials actually sticking their necks out there to begin to stand up to the huge juggernaut that is our Federal Government and actually representing the people as more than newsworthy.

To each their own.

I feel this is exactly why the Federal Government planned and created the Wall Street failure and Bank/Corporation bailout.

They could see that State representatives were waking up, and that States were starting to move away from their power and control structure.

They feared this stage of State's claiming "Sovereignty" so they needed an anchor of power in order to hold on to the States when the socialist road to Tyranny started getting bumpy.

So they created this economic nightmare to thin and deplete the State money and budget, and then they blackmail the States with Federal funding if they don't go along with the Federal/FEMA control grid.

If these states do break away it won't be pretty.
I believe the US government will do to them what they did to the Confederate States of America.
And fight to the bitter end until they have control again.

Its funny you say that. My brother is an American living in Germany, with a wife born in Germany, and she says the exact same thing. She draws alot of comparisons between Obama and pre-WWII Hitler, and the state of America right now to pre-WWII Germany.

Can you possibly either start a thread about this, or post a few links you may have drawing that comparison? I find this idea very interesting based on the belief that history always repeats itself. Thanks, good post!

HMMM. So Texas it is a sovereign nation - according to Constitution of US and still obey the federal rules.What it is wrong with that picture?. As a truck driver - I went to Texas many times and never been asked for a passport or ID. Going out of Texas I did encounter the "check points" where they asked me of origin of citizenship. I did pointed them out that they are on the wrong side of the road. They need to stop people fleeing from US to Mexico where they my have better chance for a job. It was a joke or was not?

I disagree. NOTHING is more American than standing up and kicking the everloving crap out any enemy, foreign or domestic, who's treading on your Constitutional rights. If the American people still have the big brass set of American made balls I believe many of us have, and if we come together to take our country back, then the 21st century will truly be the American Century. If the NAU or any further globalism, socialization of debt, or stripping of rights occurs without a disproportionate response from the American people, THEN we can wave bye-bye to the 'American Century.'

I liked it till I read the ending. This is simply a resolution. It has no bite or what Texas will do if these issues are not addressed. It also doesn't state what federal legislation has caused the state such problems. They can pass it in a NY minute and send it to Washington to be filed in file 13 because that is where it will end up. As a fellow Texan I am really disappointed that there were no threats if these issues were not revolved.

What Texas needs to do is make a list of every one of those issues where the FEDS have overstepped and sue them in court over each one under the 10th Amendment.

States should already be forming their own militia or State run units so that the States that are claiming sovereignty are prepared and on the same page in case we have to revolt against the Federal security structure.

Everyone keeps saying - if it goes any further without anyone acting on this it is going to get worse and the U.S. will collapse - the States should be setting up their own sovereign armies and preparing us for this, to keep it within the grounds of of it being a State run action instead of rogue groups acting on their own. If militia act on their own without State backing the Fed's can label it a domestic terror cell and arrest or take deadly action against such group. But if that group is organized and backed by the Sovereign state and each member being listed as a Statesman, the fight is legal and just.

I am seriously wondering how or if all of these states asserting their rights at the same time are going to affect any decision making from the federal government. Its been about 6 weeks with Mr Biden at the vice helm and we haven't heard anything from him regarding gun control and this surprises me. I honestly thought he and Pelosi would try to slip something under the radar.

But then again, maybe they did in this 1072 stimulus act that nobody has read.
