Yeh I remember that. People should think more before calling the cops.

But we don't need them here.
What we need is responsible parenting and effective and open government addressing the many serious issues which face British society today.

Anything else is only papering over the cracks and will come back to bite us in the arse.

Unfortunately I believe we do need guns in this country. Your solutions are ones that would be nice but in this current society they are unrealistic. In fact it would probably be less shocking for peopleand easier to get everyone to agree to relax gun laws than to bring into effect the changes you have suggested. Don't get me wrong I think they are good ideas but I just don't think they will work.

To maime first?????? If someone breaks into your home the only option is shoot to kill. A maimed person can still shoot, talk, and sue. If he is dead then it will be your word, not your word against his. A dead man cannot sue........... If you want to shoot to maime then sell your firearm, cause you are tooo sensitive to own a gun.
I practice tactical shooting every week.
ME and my family is safe.

I live in Britain and am very happy at not having my neighbours armed to the teeth. The fact is most violence is domestic and more people are killed by persons known to them, ie family and ex lovers. than strangers.

I am a lot more worried by our armed police (especially as I am brown skinned - mocha really almost brazillian looking !) than random criminals whose actions would not be deterred by me owning a fire arm. America has the death penalty, but it has not prevented a single murder

Im british and im telling you as well dont give up your guns.

Where not even allowed samurai swords now. I have to make do with nun chuckas, and knives.

If you get caught with a gun in britain you get 5 years guaranteed.

Dont let them politicians fool you especially obama all you americans seem to be suckers for him.

Wow this is such an old issue its incredible you realise its such a bias argument your being fed from that first video
its basicly all middle class tossers that dont want fox hunting banned like its realy helping people hunting foxes every year an it was banned a number of years ago.

That farmer who is now in prison yes he shot at those theives because he was armed because just about farmers are with gun licences are about the few people in britain to be able to own guns also stands to reason.
I dont see the need for everyone to be armed because that just increases accident an mortality rates which the NHS probibly couldent cope with plus if you live in a city you dont need a gun
so yea theres like 2 groups of people that have guns farmers that live out in country (shotguns) an armed forces like navy army *SAS* ect also specialist units of armed police only pistols an SMG's MP5's mostly.

I 100% agree with the farmer shooting those pricks that burgled him because the feeling you get after some one does come into your home an steal stuff its like they put there hand inside you an pulled out your guts its a horrible feeling
Also what is not mentioned is he is a widdower that same year he got burgled 3 times in i think 6 months if im right.
That is shocking.

Best way to put it period. Imagine that, the Brits schooling us on gun rights.

"The Constitution Matter, Your Freedom Matters" "Freedom is only for those who have the guts to defend it".

The two most beautiful quotes out of this video.

This vid tells about political oppression in Britain and shows that many members of the government are "former" communists.

Perhaps you should move to the states then? You know, everyone has a gun, because the crims do, and that makes it okay.

It seems like this need for a weapon is fuelled by paranoia and insecurity, trully, that is what all of this boils down to. It has nothing to do with the 'threat' of giving up the right to own a firearm.

I am sick to the back teeth of people going on about 'protecting' their wife and kids. Excuses excuses.

The point has been raised so many times and you are blinkered to it - remove the guns and the fatalities will drop. You can't get SIMPLER than that.

P.S. Soldiers in theatre are now using new equipment, and this has recently been raised / confirmed in our parliament. Yes it was a problem, but has been dealt with. The British Army are still the best equipped in the world, and we don't shoot our allies as often as others I could mention.

You don't get it do you?

We could give a crap less about the "fatalities" of criminals. We would much rather have fatalities than have criminals harming our families.

We choose fatalities (especially those of the criminal, good riddance) over rolling over... I cannot understand your estrogen induced sensitivities to human life (even criminals) over the "consequences" of chaotic lawlessness. So keep your sheds unlocked for criminals, leave your doors unlocked and pack your valuables in a box so it is easier for the criminals to carry out of your houses because I believe your sensitive TOTAL FEAR of death far over-ride your common sense to defend YOURSELVES.

Who is paranoid and insecure? I believe your so scared to death of your fellow neighbors and law abiding citizens that you will not allow anyone in your country to defend themselves because YOU could be accidentally shot or something. Your more scared (or more sensitive to the criminals well being) of your neighbor standing up to criminals than you are of the criminals. What kind of fear and paranoia has been indoctrinated into the populace over there? Are you truly more afraid of your law abiding neighbors that you would deny them the right to defend themselves, family and property because the "evil gun" may walk over and shoot you in your sleep or do you truly fear your neighbors more than criminals because that is what it appears to be?

Two questions I would like you to answer...

#1 Are you really afraid of your neighbors owning a firearms?

#2 Would you rather see a criminal get away with his crime (assault, rape, murder) than get killed by a citizen?

I live in the heart of junky city, so yes! I do not want my neighbours to own a gun. In fact, I want to make it as difficult as possible for them to get their hands on one. Which they could do on the black market - but no sign of guns in the neighbourhood yet, and trust me, you get to know who is doing what in no time in ths town.

I can handle one of my neighbours when confronted with a blade, but I don't have a chance when I'm confronted with a gun. My chance of survival is less probable.

You are obsessed with guns in the states - that is the impression we Europeans are under, and everytime we hear a story about some crazed student killing innocent people on campus, it adds more substance to the argument.

Judging by some of the attitudes towards gun ownership am reading, well, what's the point. Go ahead and build Fort Knox, I hope you feel much safer from the big bad world that's out there.

Oh, and I'd rather watch the criminal rot in a cell for his crime than kill him. If you take a life, then serve life, or lose life (if deemed).

i'm from engalnd unfortunatly,, but this thred is bull.
most of the protest videos are about fox hunting, and quite frankly its wrong. it's fair enough to shoot a fox that killing your live stock which rarely happens these days, but to chase after them then wipe there blood on your face for fun as prince william and harry have done is very disturbing, and wrong. its' just the upper classes with nothing better to do, ever watch dom jolly interview the fox hunting guys, he is taking the piss out of them but they don't even know it they are so far up the arses,
and as for the guy who shot those guys for trying to break into his house. fair enough, but he did shoot them in the back as they were running away.
i would have done the same though. but i wouldn't have called the cops, all that land who would ever have known, should have just dug a shallow grave for the scum.
the problem with engalnd isn't the gun laws, it's the fact there is no punishment for your actions, you can commite crime after crime and you just get a slap on the wrist of a asbo.
they need to build more prisons. think of all the jobs it would create, in construction and running afterwards. we need a three strile rule, or better yet a one strike rule.
living in this country makes me want to commit crime just to stop it. and to be honest i cant wait for some prick to try something with me, no police will be called, and even if they were they wouldn't turn up.
i once had my room ransaked and stuff stolen when i lived and worked at a hotel,. the police said as most of the things in my room where made of wood it was pointless them comming out to finger print. and that was that, but a few weeks later the hotel was broken into again and a cigerette machine was stolen the police came then and finger printed all the staff, what for., i smoke my prints were all over it.
england is #ed up beyound all recognition, millions turned out to protest the war on terror, did our govenment give a # course not,
still waiting for the reason we went to war by the way,................oh sorry it's because good old tony blaire was taking it from behind from bush. but of course bush is taking it from some else who we will never see or hear of.
so my point is...........whats the #ing point, you have and will never have control of what happens to your country or government, we are all taking it up the arse., so sit back and relax it's less painful.
but if they bring it into my house there #ing dead.

I love this post, and IMHO I think the first few reponses to the OP should READ and THINK about the above quotation.

I will also remind you, there have actually been less deaths in the UK through the mis-use of firearms than in the US.

Think - Free your mind.

well lets think about this for a moment. If you have less guns in the UK then it makes good sense that less deaths happen. Its like why bother taking a shower because you are going to get dirty again anyway. Or maybe a better one is this, if you play the lottery enough you will win something.

why do you live in such a bad area? Why don't you move? I agree there are some people who shouldn't own a gun, however you should have the option to own a gun. I don't know about other states, but here in Virginia its actualy kind of a PITA to get one. You go to the gun store, pick your gun, fill out the paperwork, they then call the State Police who run a background check on you to make sure you can buy the gun, sometimes the Police can do it in a few minutes, but sometimes it takes a day or two (depending). Now the gun store keeps all the paperwork on the gun (in the event its used in a crimte. The gun store I go to in Purcellville is a great place to buy guns and I was speaking to the owner and out of the thousands of guns he has sold only 10 have been used in a crime. He got a little more specific about the the type of people who used the gun in a crime, but thats not what matters here. I think you need a hate stick, that will be better against a blade.

I forgot to say I agree with you about letting them rot in jail, the problem is they don't really rot. They get 3 square meals a day, a roof over their head, Air conditioning in the summer, heat in the winter, get to exercise in the yard, watch tv, listen to the radio, medical treatment. Personally I think they should be down on the boarder building the great wall of America from Kalifornia to Texas, but thats treating them badly. I heard stories about the days when jail was meant to be bad and in fact was a very bad experience so you are encouraged not to break the law and go to jail.

Do not give me that # about the British army being the best equipped. I know what the military is like and you obviously have no idea. Our guns are out of date, our technology is a generation behind the Americans, the vehicles we use are not designed to handle what they are needed for. The only reason we are still going is that we are better trained than other forces.

I agree with you prisons are far too soft. There have even been cases of people committing crimes so that they would go to jail because life is easier and simpler in there.

Congratulations on the most idiotic and moronic statement it has been my displeasure to read here on this thread. Protecting ones wife and children is at the forefront of any man. Any man would die for his family and yet you manage to reduce those feelings down to an excuse to own firearms!
You should hang your head in shame and hope that nobody who calls you a friend reads your obnoxious words. . .
