another fine example of how some people feel they need massive amounts of money to survive. Just be happy there is not a bunch of commandos in youre country for no reason killing youre people, claiming it to be over oil. Especially when there is no oil wells for 3 thousand miles.... we have our freedom. even if you dont see it. the reason you are allowed to show youre face in public without a veil, or actually atleast you have a job to go to, you arent under strict rule, this really is freedom. I understand the taxes suck, im a self employed carpenter, making slightly over the 100k mark. And because of my taxes I bring home less than 350 a week to my newborn son and wife. I get taxed to death, but im still here saying that it is only a small price to pay, to be able to make my own decisions throughout the day. look at youre two children sir, and love them. forget about the #ing world and youre career one day, and just be happy you have a family that loves you. whether mom is there or not.

1.) Race - They are still talking about race on Fox News. It was so hard for him, and blah blah blah. 96% of black people in Virginia voted for him. I bet you my soul that the majority voted for him only because he is black. And I am sure the numbers are the same around the country.

2.) Entitlements - In the age of the younger crowd and their need to have everything handed to them without working for it . . . Obama promised them free money for nothing, and he gets the 18-24 vote.

Sad and pathetic, really.

What pisses me off is you and people like you. Ignorant and rude individuals baselessly attacking certian groups for this elections outcome.

I voted for Obama, and I am a White lower middle class college students, working 2 Jobs and going to school fulltime. So go [Snip] yourself if you are going to make baseless comments about "free money for nothing". I never expect ANYTHING from ANYONE unless I work for it. . I voted for him because I am tired of the Republican [Snip]. It is their fault that the economy tanked like it did. Deregulating everything messed it up. Republicans started two wars, with no way out.

Unfortunatly desperite times... call for desperite measures...

And all of you with your baseless accousations and race bashing "socialist" and "communist" accusations need a [Snip] wake up call.

The Elite in this country have profited from the poorest of the poor and the middle class... Now the middle class and the poor will finally profit from the sweat of our brow, and all of you have problems with it???

Sometimes I don't understand why anyone would come to these boards...

Whether you believe it or not, people have been choosing a president based on race for years. (watch any Palin rally video)
Now it hurts you though???

interesting thread. I'd like to point out that we did not elect a king here. There are too many checks and balances in place for the president alone to dictate how the country is run. Very different than it is now... maybe people will wake up and find that Bill of Rights thing and bring that to the table.

Wow what an irritating topic. I mean, it's actually annoying and somewhat painful to read the posts here. The ignorance is just...wow...

I wonder how many of you have ever been to Canada. I'm from Canada. We are pretty much a socialist state. We're about as socialist as Obama wants to make America, at least.

Are we lazy? Do we refuse to work? Do people here refuse to start their own businesses and make money?

My dad's family came to Canada from Greece. My grandfather started a small retail store with the little money he had. My father took over after my grandfather passed and turned that small retail store into the biggest import/distribution firm in Canada for his industry. My father makes well over $500,000 a year in salary, and that's while keeping alot of the money in the company. He's gotten offers for over $30,000,000 from Chinese companies to purchase his company, and he turned them down.

All this under the EVIL GRIPS of socialism. But...Wha...huh?? I thought working hard was impossible under socialism and everyone was lazy?

If you are a hard worker and smart, you will succeed no matter what. It's about drive and nothing else. Maybe you Americans need to give yourselves more credit.

The view on Socialism in this thread is flawed. Most are stating that everyone that has wealth can give some of it up to give it to those who don't so that everyone is more equal. Fine, I get your point. How does that help everyone? You take from the business and higher wage citizens, give it to the minimum wagers. That means business have less money to pay their middle class employees, and we wouldn't be getting assistance from the govt. because we aren't broke yet. But we will be. After a few years of that, you suddenly have business' out of business, middle class workers out of jobs, and now poor, and receiving the same amount of assistance that the original poor had. That's leveled out all right. That leads to communism. Because at this point, everyone is equal, and all of our money, food, whatever comes from the government.

I've said it before, poverty is a choice. Or rather, a series of bad choices. If your 13, 14, 15, and crap out 2 or 3 kids, yea you are probably going to be poor all your life. But you don't have to be in our society. If you sit around and say damn, woe is me because I don't have money. I wish the government would give me some, that's all your doing is wishing. Wishing never got anything accomplished. Wait, it got Obama elected...well, nope, those people got out and voted him in. Guess wishing doesn't accomplish # after all. It's amazing to me just how motivated these people got to get out there and vote, campaign, tell all there friends...just to get a hand out.

Here's a novel idea, use all that energy to get a job and an education and you wont be poor. Also just so everyone knows, I'm pretty disgusted with some of you who keep saying these people can't get out of the situation they are in, yet call me an asshole for looking down on the poor little poor kids. You want to get down to brass tacks, I have more faith in these people than you do. You tell us they can't change their station in life. That's not giving the people you claim to champion a whole hell of a lot of credit now is it?

You are really going to sit here and tell me you think these people are every bit as good as the ones who got out of the bad situations...but you don't think they have the ability to change their situation. That shows faith in your "fellow man". Jesus what hypocrisy.

Don't do that.
Don't be petty and hateful like the liberals have been for 8 years.
Take the high road they seem to have erased from their maps.
He is OUR president, like it or not.

Anyone who buys a bumper sticker claiming the opposite is a complete and utter jerk.

I didnt vote for him, but he's still my President. I accept that, I don't like it, but I accept it.

Don't be like them.
We can't have another 4-8 years of hatred..

When has the Government EVER made anything better by taking it over???????? You actually think healthcare will be BETTER socialized???

Yes, a) health care SHOULD NEVER be a for-profit industry. That is ABSURD. Unless you like to see people suffer.

b) everyone would finally have available health care, that cannot be a bad thing unless you wish to see people suffer.

Except here's the thing: what makes you think this so called 'national' health care program that is supposed to include and help every, actually will? What makes you think it won't just be anotehr medicaid 'for the poor kids' breeder entitlement program, like every other democrat program???
In the primary debate BHO even admitted that he thought covering everyone would be too expensive and would only help those with kids.
Grrr more breeder entitlments I have to pay more unfairly high taxs for (obviously i dont get kiddie tax breaks)

What a bunch of negative idiots, I’m always amazed by the closet bigots and racists that somehow manage to turn up on these message boards.
Where you (right wing racists) asleep for the last 8 years? The American dream is no more; the people behind Bush crushed any semblance of a free and fair society long ago. Those same people are currently running off with your money, right from under your noses...WAKE UP and take note of what 8 years of unchecked free market ideals has done for your once great Country.

I’m not going to preach to you about why Obama is exactly what you need at this time; I’ll never get by the hate which I feel from your words. All I ask is that you acknowledge that what has happened has been wrong. It’s not important where you are politically, just that you expect a hell of lot more from those you choose to govern you...I believe that another 8 years of neocon politics would have destroyed your country and a good chunk of the world along with it.

So, please try not to hate, try and work together! This could be the beginning of something special if you just give it a chance!
Peace to you all...Even the haters!

Breeders? Wow, your comments have to be the most ignorant on this thread so far. Congratulations.

Oh and well done on being rich, it must be great to have all that money seeing as you don't qualify for a tax break. Well now that Barack IS the president, I think you should ACTUALLY read his tax policy rather than continue spouting the right-wing interpretation of it.

Are you kidding me?

What has happened the last month??
Bush socialized the U.S., he has given all of mine and your money to the bankers!!

How can you be blinded to that fact?

Obama will try to reinstate our consitution which has been burned by Bush and try to put us back to a nation of freedoms!!

Why are Republicans soooo blind to what Bush has done to America?

Bush took us down the toliet, now Obama has to try and fix it!

This thread is funny. Almost hysterical. All of these paranoid delusional hotheads making ludicrous dire predictions about what's going to happen to the United States based on misinformation, vastly overreached conclusions and, mostly, just nose-picking ignorance.

From Webster's:

hysteria:

1 : a psychoneurosis marked by emotional excitability and disturbances of the psychic, sensory, vasomotor, and visceral functions
2 : behavior exhibiting overwhelming or unmanageable fear or emotional excess.

Go ahead. Flame me. Tell me how stupid I am. Time will prove me right, you wrong.

In the meantime, it may be a bit sadistic on my part but I'm rather enjoying watching you nut jobs squirm and twist in your hatred, bigotry, ignorance and total separation from reality. I am thoroughly entertained by your ludicrous, at times psychotic predictions for the future.

I don't wish to see anyone in misery, actually. But you brought this upon yourselves by eagerly embracing the most extreme interpretations of everything about Obama. Extreme interpretations are almost always totally wrong. Sensible people know that. Simpletons and lunatics either don't or prefer the extreme interpretations because such a perspective is more fun and makes their boring lives more interesting.

Oh well.

So, they just decided one day that they will make the country go bankrupted during Bush' term as President? Can you explain to me why they decided to go with Bush instead of Clinton for example? I don't blame Bush 100% for the country going bankrupted, I blame him for not doing anything about. To me he has never made a right decision when it came down to a financial or natural disaster. Instead of fixing things and making everything alright, he decided to let the problems solve themselves causing the country to go into a meltdown. I believe that the lending companies became entirely to competetive with each other, resulting in the handing out of loans like candy on Halloween, just to be able to compete. Yet I also believe that most of the American people that are in poor financial positions, most often times have lied to, or decieved themselves into thinking that they can afford loan payments that, deep down, they know they can't.

I'm sorry, but the people you speak of are very ignorant. Wait until they investigate barry in the future, maybe, just maybe some of the truth about him will finally come out.

I fear for the constitution, I have heard barry speak about it being negative rights to the government and I fear he will destroy it as we know it. He will have the full support of the democrats because they control everything now.

The republican party is dead, they did nothing but sit back and let it happen, we are now a 1 party nation. The US will go as the romans and english before us, we shall be destroyed from within.

Today is a sad day for the United States. Today begins a slide further down into recession and ending in depression. Too many have been bewitched by a gussied up used car salesman that won't even pay homage to the flag. The only consolation I can reap from this travesty, is knowing that Obama will be used as a puppet, like every president before him and have no real power in making important decisions.

I'm not going to read 12 pages of comments but I will respond to the OP.

Our great nation has survived and thrived in far worse times.

We had a civil war that literally tore the nation in two parts and then had it militarily sewn back together. Times were far tougher then, but the nation rebuilt itself and thrived.

We had riots in the streets and massive peaceful marches, but a very divided nation that passed the Great Society laws in the early 60's. The majority of American were very concerned about all Americans having equal access to the laws and everything that white American took for granted. We not only survived but thrived.

You have fallen into the political trap that most everyone has. A politician will say what ever it takes to get elected. At a minimum, 90% of what he promised or stated he will do, will not happen. There will be a change of policies for a fact, and that is about it. Forget the rest.

There will be a tax plan as he envisioned. Health care will not be done as there isn't any money to squander on this. The military budget will not be cut as envisioned by many democrats.

The current administration including all the reelected demoncrats, have already spent $2,000,000,000 of the money President Obama wanted to use. There just isn't money really left to be spent.

As for the outcome to all this, there will still be millions of people trying to gain entrance to our great land either by legal or illegal means. You can still have nothing and become a business owner, a self made millionaire, or whatever you are willing to dream and then work hard towards it. This is America, it will alter itself some; but it will not change.
