I'm a bit confused about which emergency orders DO pertain to NSPD-51.

Since the country has been in a continual state of emergency since 9-11 as a result of the president re-upping executive order 13224 every September since 2001, aren't we still in a state of emergency in which martial law could be declared?

We have also been in a state of national emergency since the Great Depression and WWII, due to executive orders of FDR.

There isn’t anything to get all up in arms about in this post. Prez Bush is basically saying that the U.S.A is lifting some of the sanctions against NK, but not all of them. The first part where he declares a national emergency is just a rewrite of the order he gave putting NK on the terror list

Thread title seems a bt misleading, in my opinion.

Some sanctions have been lifted, which is a step in the right direction as far as easing NK out of it's shell. Multinational leverage is going to require some pullys so to speak, and only rogue nations are truely friendly towards NKs activities. Not so sure if the National emergency is a serious thrat or cause to be worried about.

National Emergencies can be called up over natural disasters, such as Katrina, or even floods and massive fires if threatening a populated area.
Nothing much to worry about, unless a country wide "civil disturbance" occurs.

Here's a link mentioning the sanction;

not sure how the title is misleading. bush did declare a national emergency, and i was just wondering why. i just wondered if it was business as usual or some unseen reason behind it. no it was not televised in the mainstream media but it happened just the same.

Bet you won't here about this on CNN tonight... lol..

... current existence and risk of the proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency ...

It is followed up with "to deal with this threat". What are they keeping from the American people? Obviously something. This is where the whole problem lies. If you look at it, it means something is going on and they will wait till the last second to tell any one. Is it any wonder that everyone gets so upset.

What does unusual and extraordinary mean? What does a threat to national security mean exactly?? I think the American people should be told what is going on all the time and that the whole secret thing is ridiculous.

You nailed it! - define 'Threat'

Or is this another excuse to starve them out until they capitulate and open a 'central' bank?

Sounds like the same ole' "weapons of mass destruction" only using different words.

What is REALLY going on?

Does the national emergency declaration include North Korea only, or can other countries be declared against without making a specific declaration?

In other words, a prelude to some kind of declaration about Iran.

What's next, martial law?

Bush is EVIL!

In a word... Yes. Expect it. People were saying I was crazy to think Bush was going to suspend elections with a declaration of Martial Law before November. Looks like my perspective is showing signs of reality...

But wait?

Everything has been going so well with the N. Koreans, and the US was about to take them off the list of "State-Sponsored Terrorists"...

And now this?

Was all these hours of news just a set up?

Now Bush has said the politio-speak for a power grab?

Are we a "gulf of Tonkin" Event from a N.Korea incident where Bush calls supreme power?

Is this the set up?

Is this it?

I don't think ive ever seen:

I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that the current existence and risk of the proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.

Where the source IS the white house...

Either that is a good fake whitehouse site, or....

I mean, what is the Alphebet Media saying about this?

Is the only thing i can find on N.Korea in the News today, and its about them destroying thier Nuculear facilities

All this probably means is we are going to give NK billions under the guise of a "National Emergency" to help them "clean up the mess." That's the way they do things in Washington. Make it sound real scary so we look the other way whne they give them the rest of our food supplies and some of our wothless dollars...

Under one of the bills he has passed himself, he can also stop the elections. And with 800 FEMA concentration camps set up in the US, with a size of 500 000 people each. Complete with shackled benches, turnstiles, barbed wire fences with the barbed fenced in, "Red Zones" near railways, markers for people along the walls, high density lighting and flyby helicopter spaces, it seems like America is in for a 3rd Reich.

And all this happening while you eat your McDonald's and complain about what Lauren's ex bf did on the last season of The Hills. You might as well kill yourself as you've already agreed to a slow, meaningless suicide by enslavement anyway.

Why is the last line being ignored....

Congress may modify, rescind, or render dormant such delegated emergency authority.

????

It's up to congress to stop them. Thats checks and balances.
Maybe we should all start sending them Viagra, so they will stand up to this administration and say:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Meaningless news stories are not usually bothered with by the National Media. In this case though it was reported and I heard it on both the radio and television. It was framed as some sanctions being lifted however, because there is no national emergency.

Why am I not surprised so many posted in panic without reading anything
