No no, didn't you see the parenthesis?
Parenthesis means inner monologue.
Parenthesis!

I'll take a scotch on the rocks, please.
You'll have to be more specific -- I believe the bartender is currently pouring Aardmore, Edradour, and Laphroaig. At least, he better
be...
Also available, a selection of fine blended whisky, for those who prefer such things. Or for degreasing machine parts.
There is also Old Crow, for the staff.

I like the fact that these structured debates force participants to think through their arguement thoroughly regardless of their personal opinions.
Take my current debate, for example. I am having to debate a position that I don't necessarily believe. Nonetheless, I'm putting forth the best
arguement I can because that is what is expected of a Fighter.
Which is precisely why I'm currently drowning my sorrows in orange juice and Cristal.

HEY!!!!!!
I wouldn't wish Old Crow on my worst debate opponent...
Maria: I know. I went searching for a debate forum a while back when ATS was in a lull and found one. Stepped up and said, I'll debate any topic
any time. The debate moderator came at me quizzically, as he didn't understand why anyone would debate a topic they didn't believe in...and further
continued to state that it wouldn't be fun to read.
I countered with the fact that to be a truly objective and open mind, it was the responsibility of the individual to look at a topic from perspectives
that one may not actually believe in, so as to better understand why one believes the way one does and to perhaps find some common ground with someone
who thinks differently. A growing necessity for cordiality amongst a growing and varied population requires it.
I ended up not debating on that site...because they banned my opponent a week prior to the debate!!
Go figure...

I know you have an out there sense of humour, but even that is a bit much for me. Care to explain the impetus for such a post?

My topics a little fractious, too. Not too pleasant to think that no matter what/how you argue, there will be people who will read what's put forth
and be annoyed. Fortunately, the bright side is relaxing here..
By the way, congrats and thanks to all; there's some excellent debates this round; I'd love to rant a bit about some of them... must... remain...
objective... aargh.

Thank goodness these debates are structured.
You will seldom find discussions like this out in the open board.

You can rant objectively. Think of it as a debate topic.
Isn't that what we're talking about?
Expressing ourselves counterintuitively.

Now now, debate moderators always drink free, of course.
until the morning
Here, have another bottle of 'Bakardi Gold'. What's that you say? Of course it's 'real rum'! Why, this is their premium blend!
Edit to add: Good night, Maria. *cough* lightweight *cough*.

At 7 A.M. GMT, I'm not sure there is one other than " I was trying to bait you by pointing a loaded
gun at your face."
For weeks now I've been waiting for a reason to shout; " ISAAC ASIMOV, THOU ART AVENGED!" And now I've found it!

Not quite...Bacardi 151 seems to be their 'top 'o' the line...though I would be remiss to omit the fact that Pyrat is at the top of the rum
pyramid.
Granted, my reasons for the sauce are decidely different than that of a connossier...

Just a friendly reminder from a former debate champ and fairly experienced debater.
As Fighters we are expected to stand above the riff raff and exhibit the best qualities of all that is ATS..
This includes without exception the adherence to the Terms and Conditions
The T and C is our bible when debating and even when relaxing here.
We are ATS FIGHTERS!!!
Never forget what we stand for!!!
Now back tot he regularly scheduled "slap and tickle"
Semper
