Ask Semper or Ian. Both of them helped me out last time when I needed word count. They showed me something but I can't remember what it was. They'll
know, though.
Also, what you can do is paste it into the text box on an ATS thread and see what your character count is.
I newly am on Vista and whatever they have done to word is not an improvement IMO. All of the menu's are changed, tools relocated and parsed out all
over the place, very different than the old Word.
I clicked on the area where the word count is now, but character count is not one of the options... but you guys are all stellar for trying to help me
out with this. I have an 8k limit on the main site (and I really suck at math ) So I keep loading in parts of rthe post and trying to deduct and
add ... arghhh
I don't know if it's a European/American thing or just different versions of Word, but I get character count by going to the Tools menu and
selecting "Word Count"
A little box pops up with all the info - characters w/ spaces, characters w/o spaces, words, etc.
You're a lifesaver Orange, thanks so much! That is exactly what I was looking for... When this is all over i will go on a Vista quest and figure out
where cc is now!
you are welcome
:=
which word version do you got on vista?
my son got a pc with vista (me still stucks to my beloved MAC) and got word too, and since it is my profession to deal with such things i can do a
research tomorrow and tell you, if you don.t mind!
Word 2007 and they have done away with the Tools menu all together, and it seems character count as well. The link you gave me was for wordcount
and tracking word usage frequency, so did not solve my issue.. darn.. I really didn't think this was going to be such a big deal.
Maybe Semper or Mem could temporarily extend my post count to 10k... I am only stressing about it as I have not dealt with overly long post being an
issue before, but suspect I am may have to completely change my rebuttal statement in order to fit alloted space.
You could, very carefully, put it in the reply box on the debate thread and then lastpage-arrow out of the situation after seeing what the character
count is?
Or you could dredge up an old debate to test post in?
TYVM!! You get a gold star for most ingenious way to solve the problem, as I am pretty sure I have over written myself into a corner and am going to
have to keep editing, rewriting, char. counting.... (and this was supposed to be fun )
And a sincere thanks you all for taking the time and having so much patience. I will now go quietly into my dark night...
