So again i have to explain to someone exactly how someone could be tricked into clicking a link like this. It is very possible you could receive a mail tomorrow that says "Click this link to see pictures of britney" or "Click this link to see pictures of Bradd Pitt" (depending on your sexual preference). Many people are foolish enough to click these links and low and behold they are then taken to this FBI website, a short time after they are raided by the FBI.

You see this can easily be abused, it can be used to set up innocent people. I f i wanted i could write a virus tomorrow that if it infected a computer would direct someones browser to this website. I want everyone to understand how easy this would be for anyone with any kind of computer programming knowledge, i could do this, i am not lying or joking i simply could.

I would never do it of course as i'm someone who directs his energy towards stoppping malicious users but my point stands. This site will catch many innocent people.

What if someone uses your wireless connection becuase you didn't secure it properly, what happens if someone installs a trojan on your computer, takes control of it and uses it to acess this website.

I'm tired of having to explain these things, i don't usually type anything in capitals as i think it is rude but here i feel i must. READ THE THREAD FOR GODS SAKE, get off your lazy backside and read all of whats been posted so we don't have to repeat ourselves and fill up this page.

Earlier in this thread someone linked to the website or "honey pot" the FBI were using disguising it as more information to do with the investigation. That post has now been deleted for a very good reason Are you ElectricUncleSam saying that these poor, innocent and duped people deserve whats coming to them? Simply for being tricked? Simply for clicking a link they found on ATS they thought was to do with the story?

That is the precise attitude that is the problem, what would this accomplish? You are thinking of petty vengeance. This view means that anyone who has these thoughts but hasn't acted upon them will never seek help. I should also point out (once again) that studies have shown that castration does nothing to stop a paedophile. They will often resort to abusing children with inanimate objects, physical torture and other means to satisfy their cravings. Castration usually leads to violence, instead in my view anyone who acts upon their obsessions should be imprisoned for life.

About ten years ago I was in a chat room and some person kept iming me so I bothered to chat with her. She claimed she was about 13 or whatever and that she was living in an abusive home and wanted me to come and take her away. Her spelling was really bad but she typed faster than I ever could. I finally told her I couldn't help her and told her to call the local police.

Then this person admitted they were on a sting or whatever and blew their cover. It wasn't long after that I had a knock on the door and it was some criminal profiler who's also been on TV since then. I had mentioned that they were outnumbered by these people and still feel they can't stop it so easily.

Why is it the Chinese have more control over their internet then we do? Kids should only be able to access sites for kids with their finger or whatever. Maybe this is also some way to promote those chips implanted in kids and criminals as well?

The internet is the biggest criminal tool and means of entrapement and their is most likely a double standard with these elite groups also.

Token arrests are most likely another scare tactic like the Predator show. There's something weird that happens to kids and and adults with the power of the internet that makes them stupid and vulnerable. A schizophrenic might be easier to sway then other people who think they're in control. The government is actually being an enabler of these internet atrocities. If you build it they will.............

It's all mind games and greed. People need to be able to see through this.I was shocked with the movie American Beauty. How many other similar movies have been produced like that?
There's also the freudian psychology behind people doing things that are wrong that excite them. Once these fantasies start they probably evolve within some people. Apparently by statistics there might be huge numbers of closet predators. The internet is bringing them out.Children who are abused by strict parents may become even bigger offenders.

There's obviously better ways to stop this but it apparently isn't going to happen because of greed. Some people shouldn't have access to the internet at all. Public libraries should be strictly archives. What happens with kids who have acess in schools?

They should be taking down sites, not creating ones. Many people in poor foreign countries sell their children into prostitution. What makes us think this doesn't or can't happen here also? Double standards? If banning all internet porn was able to save these kids and stop this internet insanity, then it should be done.

It's beginning to look that way. This thread is going around in circles.

Bottom line is the way they are going about it unfair and all is wrong..going after someone clicking a link (whether guilty or not) Instead of concentrating on stopping the problem.

I guess it depends on how they go about it. I mean if these people click the links from within a sting type website for that purpose that you'd only be visiting if you were looking for that kind of thing (ie: www.givemekiddiepr0npls.com), then cool, catch those sick bastards. But on the other hand they better not throw these links in all sneaky so as to draw people in that aren't looking for that just to make them selves look good, I'd have issues with that.

When you get accused of child porn possession or anything remotely related to that, even if you're 100% innocent and it was a complete mistake on their part, your life is over, beyond over, you'd never get another job, no one would believe you, your friends and family could turn on you...

All I'm saying is, thats a serious accusation that would have serious consequences regardless of guilt, so they better have a damn good system in play.

I always thought US laws are abit evil with the way they operate. They try to sell drugs and whores as undercover agents, and then bust the person attempting to buy such illegal services or goods.

Such law enforcement practice is not permitted in most EU countries. Law enforcers should be there to help maintain law and order, not to help people commit them.

As stated in the article, the address could have even been hotlinked in an email, with some innocuous message.

Furthermore, how do they prove who actually clicked the link? I know that I had roomates for a while, and we all shared the same computer.

Lastly, this is a perfect example of Big Brother moving the goal posts. Today its kiddie porn. Tomorrow they're busting down the door because you were looking at weapons, or a Canadian pharmacy.

I have to agree with you on this.

Also, true peds don't click links for images and videos...they use peer-to-peer networking and private chats to find similar twisted people like themselves and distribute materials amongst one another.

So more than likely the only people prosecuted will be idiots that will click on anything ie. 2girls1cup type crap while the real pedo criminals get away unscathed.

Feds chipping away at our privacy on a monthly basis, what's next? Laws passed for CCTV cams to be installed on our TV sets so Big Brother can monitor our home life. This is getting ridiculous.

Well if you read the article, this sting was setup ina private "group" type setting, very similar to a priavte "yahoo groups" type thing. If I can see images and videos of my local basenji dog club gatherings through these groups in public, then you can bet they can share illegal files in private in the same groups network type thing.

If a person was tricked into clicking the link, that is why we have investigations. The press is not on the scene with inside knowledge of a raid the moment it happens. If innocent individual is indeed innocent and was tricked by email, the sender can be traced back to someone who had access to the original hyperlink and that perp will be the one facing the consequences.

Please stop watching hollywood and then pass it off as fact. That is over dramatizing and just not true. A crime was committed, an initial suspect that can be traced will be apprehended for questioning. If suspect is innocent, investigation and cooperation will assist in bringing the case to a close.

When nothing is foudn on the comp and no sign of hasty erasing is seen, the truth will be known.

how many of you go around clicking random links from anonymous or unknown emails anyways? Majority of people delete them without reading. How likely is it that a child pornography group member is going to suddenly spam an alleged illegal video all over the internet?

they seem to be pretty good at keeping it to themselves, or we would be seeing a plethora of false accusations and cleared cases all over the media.

everyone gets so overdramatic when what is officially nothing more than a luxuary and privelage is treated as an inallienable right (anonymous secure web surfing). We are humans, but also nothing more than animals. Animals are not born with tools. the internet is a tool. there is not a tool that is a right, they are all luxuries and privelages. You can survive without the tools.

If you feel like you are too usy to watch out for your own security on the internet that you will be tricked into accessing fake child pornagraphy that will trigger an FBI or Interpol (coming soon) raid, do yourself the favor of logging off. you will feel much safer, and get connected with reality once more, the thing outside of the virtual world some hold more dear than life.

how do i know them?

its called the internet. i get to know people, and online they tend to reveal pretty personal things to me mainly because im so honest with them(not to mention im 17, which gets even more people like that to talk to me).
its not sick and perverted either. its not like they mean to do it, its just how they are.
they live normal lives and date normal similarly-aged girls, they go to school, they go to work, and they sometimes get aroused by small children.
i honestly dont see a problem with it if its controlled.


you forget that these are REAL HUMAN BEINGS.
who have never once hurt a child (well, all children hurt children at one point or another, but as an adult i mean)

I happen to know one pedophile very well. It's not something that he advertises, but something he confided in me during a conversation on the topic. He has never acted on his compulsion, and has never touched any of his children, two of which are grown and out of the house. Furthermore, I'm sure if he had, his wife would have used it against him in their divorce.

Furthermore, I happen to know someone who has since been sent to prison for raping children, but he wasn't really particular about who or what he raped. He also victimzed adults and animals.

I understand that, but I was arguing that same point and wound up being one of the people who clicked that damn thing. And I happened to be at my grandmother's house.

In other words, I understand the point you were trying to make, but what you did was childish, and could have been quite harmful. But I will chalk it up to the fact that kids do dumb things sometimes. So don't think that I hate you or anything. Yet.
