I'm sorry but this theory of most films or television being a manipulative source is completely false my friend. I myself being a huge film buff and
working to become a filmmaker myself can tell you that the guys behind our films today are not faceless zombies being manipulated by the goverment.
Film is art, I consider it the highest art form. Just look at works from my favorite filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull,
GoodFellas, The Age of Innocence, or Gangs of New Work. And many more (I love all his films to death). These films are important. Probably the most
important is Taxi Driver. It makes a huge statement about our society.
Or my second favorite filmmaker P.T Anderson. Films like Boogie Nights (More entertaining but a great character study), Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love,
and the upcoming (Can't wait!) There Will Be Blood. Regardless of their subject matter (Boogie Nights is about the porn industry in the 70s) these
films are art.
Films that I'd consider the purest art form for filmmaking are films like Apocalypse Now or 2001 A Space Odyssey.
Also you have to factor in foreign cinema which holds many masterpiece's in it's right.
Yes there are brainless entertainment films like Transformers or I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. It's sad most of our society prefers this but,
there are films out there that are on their own. Not apart of entertainment fluff.
The most recent one (and my #2 favorite film of all time) Children of Men. I highly recomend EVERYONE on this site to see the film if they have not
already.
Other recents include Zodiac, American Gangster, No Country For Old Men, and the upcoming There Will Be Blood.
Television has a lot more to wade through but even it has it's high points. Check out the show The Wire if you want to see just how good television
can be. The Wire is an achievement in television entertainment that will be studied in the decades to come.
So please don't make the mistake of writing off all forms of media as manipulative or mindless. The film and television business isn't a facelss
culutre. There are some brilliant guys out there waiting to tell a story that everyone should hear.
Oh and OP, I like that you pointed out Star Wars. Examine all the films (1-6) a little closer and you'll see that the NWO theory and these films have
little differences.
It's hard to spot in Ep. I but it becomes evident in Ep. II and in Ep. III it's full blown, the relations to the NWO theory are endless.
Ok, rant done.
