Well, that certainly offsets 100 years of abuse and malfeasance.

Yes, they've been spending my tax money responsibly for about 4 decades now. No complaints at all. Yes, sir, they are the very model of fiscal responsibility.

i never said the system was flawless. i just said it works sometimes when you actually try to use it.

you are more than right about the finacial misuses. i pay taxes to so i understand.

i dont know about you but one of the first lessons i learned in life is that its not fair.

i would sugest trying to use the system from time to time and you may not feel so bad about the abuse of your tax money.

No, no, no, humans exist on this Planet, and have made it for some to assume because only others will only listen to some -- unethical. That means that unless they think that you are important, then you probably are not as important as they think some others are. Friends eventually get you in trouble with a Capital "T". Recently I left a message to a Congressperson in the Senate, and said in a manner of speaking, "Is that the way that you make money, by being anti-social, and then think you get to Heaven after that, by doing good works?" There is no God mentioned in the definition of being a Christian. It is the life and teachings of Jesus, but as this world is with some foreign Countries who also will not listen, then they invoke some Holy Scripture stating God for some reason while others still do not actually listen to all of it. It is some people thinking they have more Rights than others, because they made theirselves more important. Sure there is education, but look at how some people use their education. While others are out making tons of money, and donating as if they were good to charities, there actually are people who spent their lives helping people and did not make it a priority to be rich in the first place, which by the way, may be against Christians and the teachings of Jesus or even God. The Devil comes in many forms.

First the program and the video cards capable from Nvidia doing this stuff.............

Now I am sure that you can find versions for Linux and Unix and about anything else, but like always, it may not be quite finished or be as good.

But then, I guess a person has to work around them and persuade the masses to find something new, as to Operating Systems that also could be done like others (like Apple) have done, along with about any subject in existence, but it will take work, and afterall, you may not make as much or about nothing at all.

But then, like Star Trek and that version of them creating something needed out of like thin air (forget what it is called right now - like the food dispenser - but the start is like nanotechnology) it usually is stock in the market place and shares can be bought.

Like anything else, though, most people get out of college and only find out later what it is about -- although there are still good companies out there, and along with that -- bad companies -- and like people, anything else inbetween.

Anymore, I like to see some political candidates who had a chance not to seem so kind of fanatic in a sense that they keep selling whatever is their "Campaign" to others instead of more common sense between both major political parties. Although recently I read there are 21 political parties in the USA, most of them, not many would want to support, but anymore, just saying that only two are needed, does not seem to make these political candidates or some people think any better.

And there in lies the answer, given by God's divine providence.

We're going to die about it dionysius9 .. we're gonna die about it.

you are right, it could be worse though.

our political parties could openly and bluntly tell the public "we are in the direct and primary interests of corportations and big business only!" , do a dictatorial takeover on whats left of the democracy and use the military to suppress the people.

right now they know that if they tried to do that, they'd fail, and so they act like they have us in their interests, but the truth as we all know is, 98% of them dont. and the 2% that do never win an election.

The problem is the system is using most of us at the same time we are trying to use it.

To grossly oversimplify, there seem to be four possible solutions:
1. Worldwide revolution (changing just America would leave the global "fat cats" in power)
2. Surrender to the powers that be
3. Try to reform the system by joining it and making incremental changes
4. Become entirely self-sufficient and live as a hermit

There are serious drawbacks to all of them. Most of our politicians are trying possibility number 3, but they often get caught up in the things they want to reform. Solution number 4 is popular with many people, but very hard to do. Worldwide revolution could bring about changes for the worse as easily as for the better. Few people like to admit to number 2, and most who choose it are just not truly aware of their situation.

I lean toward solution number 3, but I'm open to new ideas.

Some interesting points are being raised. How can we indeed effect change?

How do we as the majority of people on this planet, i.e the non Elite or controller class change things for the better?

The political system in the UK and US are predominately run in the interests of big business. Big Business are the main polluters of this planet, so why do they not get taxed for carbon emmissions, but rather get given Corporate welfare in the form of carbon credits?

Why is it that the taxation burdon of the working people increase with every sucessive government measure and the tax burdon of Corporations and the Elite (tm) get susidised?

The whole system is rotten like a week old corpse and the government and corporations are the maggots feeding upon it.

When will the masses learn the cold hard reality of the control measures that have shackled them into a position of slavery to their Government and Corporate masters?

I feel that we are at a point in history where if mankind does not wake up from its television/drug/alcohol/bread and circuses slumber that the nightmare which was George Orwell's 1984 will become a planetwide reality.

As I come from the Peoples Socialist Republic of the United Kingdom, the name I give to the former democratic United Kingdom and I live in the most surveilled society in history. I hope that the rest of the world wakes up and that my fellow countrymen and women do too.

I've already woke up, but the damage is done. Like you said about Tv, stereos, cars, houses, land, etc... We have been trained to want, want, want, and as long as we work and get that new television or that car with interest then we're fine. I look back in the early years where there was no phones, cars, video games, tv etc.. People still made it even though it was hard. Now we have all this stuff that we really don't need to survive and more people care about American Idol then they do about politics or what's going on in the real world.
You have to buy your land, your house, your water, your food, your electricity, your tv channels, gas, credit and on and on. No wonder we're in debt up to our necks. All we need is food, water and shelter to survive, the rest is just secondary. But we want and want more.

A Child's Garden of Conspiracies

Pardon me if I differ from what seems to be the general consensus on this thread.

1. To take control is human nature. Yes, this means you.

The elite... have put forth certain control mechanisms. The first being economic control.

Since the dawn of time, those with strength and audacity have helped themselves to the possessions of those who do not have those qualities. The ancient Greeks were already aware of this centuries before Christ - read, for example, the Melian Dialogue in Thucydides - and regarded it as a law of nature.

And it is a law of nature. It occurs not just among human beings but among all other creatures as well. The strongest members of the pack, herd, troop, tribe, etc. get the prettiest mates. The strongest groups hold the best feeding grounds, etc. It even works among jungle vines and mats of bacteria.

What you are calling an 'elite conspiracy' is really just natural selection*.

2. Rule today, ruined tomorrow

There is no permanent elite. In every country, and in the world as a whole, its composition is always changing. In old, closed societies the turnover is slow - you measure it in generations. In capitalist democracies it is as rapid as it can be without causing the disintegration of society itself; if you live such a society, you and your descendants have a better chance of eventually becoming part of the elite than under any other stable form of government.

The qualifications for and attributes of elite membership are also constantly changing, thus altering the composition of the elite.

3. The wealthy and powerful are a house divided

There have, and will continue to be, divisions among the elite. Sometimes they conspire against one another. These conspiracies have different ends and are intended to benefit different individuals and groups: the ever-changing membership of the so-called 'elite' compete first and foremost among themselves, not with the common folk.

From these three points, it becomes clear that the idea of economic control by the elite is a chimera. They cannot even control each other, so what prospect have they of controlling entire economies in which the general population also participates?

4. The Conspiracy Theorist's Constitution

We the elite can and will not give a rats right testicle, that the lower classes can;

1. Survive.
2. Exist without our control.
3. Have freedom of thought.

- If the 'lower classes' do not survive, the elite will have no-one to exploit, or feel superior to. So even if there were an elite conspiracy, the continued survival of the lower orders would be very much a part of it.

However, the need for the lower classes to be increasingly healthy, wealthy and long-lived, to be increasingly better educated and connected with each other (e.g. through the Internet), to be allowed various freedoms and rights, to be able to vote for leaders of their choice and so on - none of this is necessary for the effective exploitation of the lower orders. The old imperialists and slave-owners managed fine without them.

In fact, such things make the lower classes harder to control. So why would a conspiracy of exploiters offer such things to the exploited?

We the elite discourage (sic)the following:

1. We want you to believe that you want what we advertise.

Yes we do, and if only our damn' competitors down the street would shut up for a minute, we might actually succeed.

The free market is a cutthroat place, as I can tell you from personal experience. Advertisements aren't pablum to keep the masses sedated; they're front-line weapons in the war for market share. You're getting advertising mixed up with propaganda.

2. We want you to parrot the so called facts we give you.

Yes we do, and our job would be a sight easier if what we told you wasn't immediately contradicted by what some other elite group is telling you, which is contradicted in turn and in an entirely different way by what was told to you by a fourth party, and in yet another way by last week's news, and in another by what you thought you remembered from your lessons at school...

3. We want to be able to tell you what to think and not teach you how to think.

Yes, this is why we teach you language, mathematics, history, philosophy and the sciences in our schools and universities. So that you won't know anything and won't know how to think.

Yessss... makes perfect sense. At least, if you don't think about it too hard.

4-6. We will encourage... any war that destabilizes society.

Yes, after spending thousands of years creating this incredibly complex, interdependent global society, we will, of course, encourage any war that destabilizes it and endangers our own elite position. We're quirky like that.

5. Why do people believe such nonsense, Mummy?

It makes them feel better to blame other people, or the 'system', for their own failures, darling. This, too, is human nature. Just look:

The current economic system is a pile of lies. The minority controls the majority through DEBT and fluctuating interest rates and inflation which are both inventions of the fraudulent FIAT system.

Some foolish people think 'credit' is something invented to let them buy sofa sets, TVs, cars and even houses for more money than they actually have. Then they complain when the people from whom they have borrowed money ask for their money back. They get bitter about debt and what they call 'fiat money' (as if there were ever any other kind). Some of them even become Communists so that they can have an intellectual excuse for not paying their debts. You see, darling, these silly, irresponsible, selfish people have forgotten that 'credit' is another word for 'debt'...

But wise folk like us know that credit is not for spending. It is for making more money with. Never forget that, child.

The powers that be, through their corrupt media sources... have launched a war against anything that can make a normal person happy. Watch FOX news or CNN for more than 15 minutes and you will be depressed.

Isn't it strange that what these sources show is exactly what audience ratings and poll after poll tell us people want to see? It is not the 'elite' who manipulate the news but the audience. This is one of the curses of the media in a free society, but it's hardly something to blame the elite for. If you're getting bread and circuses on Fox News, it's because your fellow-viewers want it and pay for it. Yes, pay for it - a good chunk of the money paid for all those consumer goods you don't need is spent on advertising, and ad money goes where the eyeballs are.

We always want more. Why do we always want more? ADVERTISING ADVERTISING, PRODUCT PLACEMENT, MAIN STREAM MEDIA.

No.

We always want more because it is natural to want more. Unlike other animals, we have a concept of the future, so our wants do not cease when our bellies are full.

Advertisers and the media merely exploit this pre-existent aspect of human nature. It isn't very nice of them to do this, especially when you think of some of the dirty tricks they get up to, and it is true that foolish people often get caught in their snares. But it is still quite easy to avoid being caught up by all this nonsense: just refuse to play the game.

Of course it needs some intelligence, ambition and strength of character to do that. And if the masses had those qualities they wouldn't be the masses, would they, child?

________________________________________________________________________
*I am not a Social Darwinist. Selfishness and exploitation are not the only principles we inherit from nature. Cooperation and altruism are also natural, which is how we able to live in vast, complex, highy interdependent societies.

Economics
The current economic system is a pile of lies. I can say this with Conviction, As a student of economics for six years of my adult life, with qualifications, the current system world-wide is a fraud. Do your own research and you will find that the minority controls the majority through DEBT and fluctuating interest rates and inflation which are both inventions of the fraudulent FIAT system.

I agree completely. I was raised in a house with a father who was a Econ professor. Most people who really study our economy and the world economy knows the dark secret behind it. Fiat currency and the fact that our economy runs on debt is the biggest enemy to liberty.
