Four of the Best, IMHO, in descending order of personal preference and ascending order of over-all production values:
Drunken Master / Jui kuen (1978) Raw, brutal, funny action, hilarious slapstick, one of Jackie's best, if not THE best of his entire
career.
Iron Monkey / Siu nin Wong Fei Hung ji: Tit Ma Lau (1993/2001) Wonderful wire stunts (consider the scene with the effortless gathering of the
wind-blown, flying papers), liberally sprinkled with sly humor, the climactic final battle above raging flames on disintegrating, burning posts is a
stunning, classic piece of work.
Kung Fu Hustle / Kung Fu (2005) "From walking disaster to kung fu master" LOL! The kick-in-the-seat, outright, madcap funniest of this
genre, ever! The CGI is seamless, and rockets the mayhem and hijinks way, WAY, far beyond simply ROTFLMFAO!
House of Flying Daggers / Shi mian mai fu (2004) The flight through the bamboo forest leaps to mind immediately, absolute poetry in motion.
This film is lyrically beautiful and a joy to behold, the prettiest kung fu yet.
