I've actually often agreed that Revelation actually described the Devil's original fall from Heaven, more than some event in the future...

Great insight, Intelgurl.

This is about a ravenous need for fuel, bottom line. The U.S., Russia, China, Japan, Indonesia.. Every one of these countries share the same problem. Whoever controls the remaining reserves will be on top. Everyone else is gonna suffer bigtime. It'll be a race to take what's left before all hell breaks loose.

And its that technological advantage that trumps all... at the time of the first Gulf War Iraq had the worlds third largest army... but the technology was behind and the training in thier units was poor.

When CHina' tech catches up (which it will) then they will be a MUCH larger threat to the US, obviously. But if numbers is the prime advantage of an army, they would not farewell in a war with the US today.

Well, regarding oil fields, China would benefit best by allying itself or otherwise controlling the Indonesian oil fields. These are reserves on par with the middle east and they are right in China's own backyard. China would incur no great expense (which they cannot afford) on transporting a million troops to the middle east - nor would they be put in a position of going head to head with the likes of the US & UK.
(Of course the Aussies may have something to say about it which could drag the US into war)

I am aware of bible prophecy of the army from the east and all that - but for oil, all China needs to do is go south about 800 miles.

Perhaps later down the timeline when the indonesian oil fields go dry then china may turn it's eyes westward to the middle east.

Here is a cool little fact:

The United States spends more money on its military than the next 12 nations combined

Your analysis is concise, as always, except for the biblical mystery.. It says things such as, (God): I will put a snare, or a hook into their jaw.. which will lead them. These things make little sense to us, surely. But somehow it will come about.

Right now China is talking with mid-eastern countries. It could very well be a trade-off. Cheap oil for security agreements, no? That would be a snare.

On Monday Hu Jintao, Chinese president, begins a tour that includes Egypt, Algeria and Gabon - all energy exporters.

Anxious to diversify its suppliers, Beijing has directed its state-controlled companies to buy into oilfields around the world.

"It reflects the generally uneasy feeling in the government," said Joe Zhang, head of China research at UBS in Hong Kong. "Strategically, politically, militarily, somehow they don't feel comfortable."

Iraq had the world's fourth largest army at the start of the '91 Persian Gulf war.

Great site!

Gee, if we took a quarter of that budget, just think of the many ways it could be used domestically. What a shame. Iraq is nothing but us pouring money straight down the drain. TONS of money.

years ago...remember the book, The Late Great Planet Earth...

'we' (humanity) were at the threshold...that was 25 or more years ago.
in the above posts,; by linking the 2012 Mayan date, with the Event Driven Prophecies of scripture... ->

Are you all now suggesting ? there is only 8 years left ?

Theres a lot that must take place for this china scenario to unfold

*a billion Hindus and a billion Muslims might? have some influence in global trends & futures?, add a billion in Africa, another billion in western world, another billion in Asia/Oceania, then reckon with the billion chinese->
who desire to become 'middle class', to enjoy the fruits of their labors, reach for the stars...

*BUT!!...ya'll could be on target,?-> cause the 'BUSH DOCTRINE' is an utterly new Dynamic...

Read the Tom Clancy novel The Bear and the Dragon. I believe that this is how we will wage war agianst China, but we'd have ICBMs in reality.

According to the scriptures, certain prophecies must be fulfilled to bring about the rapture of the church and the events which lead to Armageddon. At the time "The Late Great Planet Earth" came out, there were still many prophecies yet to be fulfilled. Many have been since that time. Few remain - like the building of the temple, for example.

Interesting comments, just the same.

Gadget:
I do not think that china could possibly catch up to us tech. wise. We had the bomb in 45, they got it in the 70's. Like was previously mentioned, we spend more money on our millitary than anyone else, by leaps and bounds. And that is the money that we are admitting to spending on the millitary, that dosen't include the possibly $750 billion dollars per year that the "black budget" gets. I bet you would be suprised what kind of tech. that we accually have, we're just not going to use it, or act like we have them untill we need them. We might not be the tech. manufacturing capital of the world, but we deffinatly have "higher" tech. than anyone else

We'd crush chinesee in a land battle, we might not have 1 billion people in our country, but we have enough bombs and bullets to kill 1 billion people. Personally its the atomic aspect of a war with them that scares me.

You say that china could cripple the US economy because we buy more products from them than any other country and they dont buy a fraction of US goods. This statement makes no sense it would have the other effect china economy would be hurt far more because they couldnt sell there products to there biggest customer the US. Other countries would love to sell chinas share of goods to america. And the loss of american product sales to china would be nothing to that which china would lose

war with China, hmmmmmmm. Probitally the only way to defeat them is a nuclear cluster bombing of its major cities to prevent more soldiers from dieing.

Where would you think this war will be over and where will the flashpoints be? Maybe South East Asia, or the Pacific. It quite possibly be like a war in 1984, Oceania and Eastasia, limited numbers, enough to fight but not a full blown slaughter.
