Hmmmm...something just sounds fishy on this one. The same Israel that is scared to invade Gaza to stop the daily rocket fire at school houses has decided to go and bomb Syria?

I've had it on Al Jazeera and its all strange.

Israel is not commenting on this, Syria is carrying out an investigation to what happened.

But, apparently, Syria is gaining more missile defence systems from Russia and other equipment.

Israel feels that Syria is building for a war.

Where did you see that there were targets bombed in Syria?

All I can see is that Syria fired on IDF planes they say violated their airspace.

Its all strange djohnsto77,
Al Jazeera has no idea what happened now.
Syria said it's investigating what was dropped, there was even reports of injuries. State media is still saying bombs were dropped.

But suddenly, both sides have gone silent.

I imgaine all this will be swept quietly under the rug as no one on either side wants things to "get out of hand". Probably just a minor mishap. Things happen.

I think you are right

The spokesmen for the Syrian government was unwilling to admit what happened. She dodged the question regarding what Israel allegedly dropped.

Syrian government is still not confirming if bombs were dropped.

Israel is declining to comment.

So far, the Syrians are coming out with war like rants towards Israel.

Not looking good.

Syrian government minister is currently talking about the Golan Heights and why Israel should give them back.

Al Jazeera has good coverage on this story.

Just to back infinites claim of bombs dropped in Syria by Israel. Around 9:15 est., NBC also made the claim of the bombing but hasn't reported any other news concerning the matter. If it did take place what would this mean for the U.S.?

Peace. K*

How big is this?
Could it lead to a war between both countries?
Would we then get involved and, not sure if Syria and Iran are allies but I am going to guess they are, then Iran gets involved and we have an all out war?

So many questions..

Very big.

Both Syria and Israel have been increasing rhetoric over the last few months.

The reactions are amazing. Israel has made an official comment, which is "no comment" on what has happened, Syria is accusing Israel of trying to create a climate of war.

In theory, Israel has entered Syrian airspace and Syria has attacked Israel aircraft. Entering someones airspace is an act of war. Firing on aircraft is an act of war.

Both nations are technically still at war.

Also, Al-Jazeera is quoted as stating that

Israeli radio, quoting unidentified military sources, said Israel did not carry out an air attack on Syria. "This event never happened," Israeli radio said, quoting an unidentified military spokesman

Yet Syria is stating it did happen and dropped munitions in their country.

Is Israel lying, or Syria?

Yeah, that did happened, but Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli response was now "no comment" and "we don't discuss military operations".

Expect things to heat up.

It seems that the potential conflict to come will be over the Golan Heights.

Both sides are refusing talks until the other gives in to demands.

Mohsen Bilal, Syrian Information Minister, made this statement which sounds more like a war speech

Israel in fact does not want peace - it cannot survive without aggression, treachery and military messages
