So Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, but people love it because they're taught to in school.

I thought it said we had the right to arm bears!

Be that as it may... nobody needs assault weapons in their home. That is just plain absurd.

Don't give me that crap you know damned good and well what an assault weapon is. What average citizen needs an Uzi or an AK47 or any weapon of that style?

Well "assault weapon" is really vague. Most people use it because they have no clue.

It doesn't matter that you or anyone else thinks that we don't need or deserve an assault weapon. It is a right outlined by the Constitution. Who is the government to tell me that I can't have it? Especially while someone in the military or police can? That means that the only way to get an assault weapon as a civilian is illegally. Therefore, the only ones with them will be criminals.

I will not be told that I can't have something while it is my God-given right to do so. No man can tell me that. It is my right to bear arms and my right to self defense. Whether or not this right is superfluous means nothing, though I can guarantee you that it is not by any means. Just because I didn't sign up to go kill people in Iraq doesn't mean that I don't deserve to have the same weapons.

... I was in the military and I know what an assault rifle is thank you very much and have marksman and sharpshooter ribbons to prove it.

My father (may he rest in peace) thought like you and he had a Uzi he got illegally somehow and when he showed it to me I started laughing. When he asked what was so funny it was to protect his family? I said dad how many guns do you have? 20. And you need a Uzi? You live in the mountains of Virginia the only thing you have to worry about is hunting season going on around your property. Besides if you tried to fire that thing off, with your bad ticker, it would give you a heart attack.

The average citizen has absolutely no need for those type of weapons.

But thankfully, there isn't any reason that we have to explain why we want them.

Though apparently some nitwits down in Washington think that we do.

We have as many rights as we have bullets to insist upon.

Has the government every intentionally limited it's power? Has it not repeatedly overstepped it's bounds of ensuring equal access under the law and defending the rights of the individual? Are not more sophisticated weapons than Uzis and Ak-47's being devised for "crowd control", etc.? So called assault weapons will barely be adequate for self-defense against such a power mad government as we see forming.

I don't need (or want) an assault weapon to defend my home. I need/want them to defend my freedoms and liberties.

I want them because....... hmmmmmm

I WANT THEM

No other reason

None should be necessary..

I would like to know who it is that thinks they have the right, or authority to tell me what I need and what I don't need!!!!!!

What shear audacity

What ARROGANCE

I read on here posters that have raised themselves to a pedestal high enough to tell us what we need and what we don't need...

They have become so God like as to tell us what we want and what we don't want....

If I was not so disgusted, I would bow to you...

Stop telling others what they need and what they want. No matter how much you would like it, this is NOT a socialist country... Not yet...

Yup, I do. I'll give you the Uzi or any other short barreled, fully automatic weapon. The types of AK's and AR's that civilians may buy don't fit!

Just because you were in the military doesn't make you an expert. So shovel that stuff some place else.

Correct Roper,

And just to edumacate the Weapon Illiterate here...

An Uzi is a SUBmachine gun.... Typically chambered for SUBsonic ammunition, ie. pistol caliber.. 9mm/40sw etc...

The AK47 typically fires the 7.62X39 RIFLE round

assault weapon
–noun
any of various automatic and semiautomatic military firearms utilizing an intermediate-power cartridge, designed for individual use.
Online Dictionary

The 7.62x39 leaves the muzzle at around 2400FPS, making it an "Intermediate Round"

The 9mm, which is the most common chambering for the Uzi you mentioned, has a muzzle velocity of 1180fps with the standard 115gr bullet..

Just for information..

I own variants of both..

ps. Grover, I am an expert...

I never claimed to be an expert, nor would I. I just said I knew what an assault rifle was. I was a good shot in the military because my father trained me to be, not because I was into guns because I m not. When I have gone hunting, I use a bow, and not a compound bow either, a long bow. I like the way they behave, compound bows remind me of cross bows without the cross.

Grover you do not NEED a Bow anymore than I NEED a rifle..

FACT

You do not NEED to hunt...

I do not hunt, but I also own a Bow and compete with my bow as often as I compete with my rifles, all of them...

I do 3 gun competitions where I use my CAR 15
I do long range competition shoots where I use my Steyr
Pistol Competitions and Shotgun as well..

I also compete in Long Range Bow and "Field" Competition, I shoot a compound...

The point being, you do not need your BOW anymore than any of us NEED our rifles, but I SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE IT..

You apparently do not reciprocate...

Well, if they can't get legislation through then just start to regulate it to death.

As written, the proposed rule would force the closure of nearly all ammunition manufacturers and force the cost of small arms ammunition to skyrocket beyond what the market could bear—essentially collapsing our industry. This is not an exaggeration. The cost to comply with the proposed rule for the ammunition industry, including manufacturer, wholesale distributors and retailers, will be massive and easily exceed $100 million. For example, ammunition and smokeless propellant manufacturers would have to shut down and evacuate a factory when a thunderstorm approached and customers would not be allowed within 50 feet of any ammunition (displayed or otherwise stored) without first being searched for matches or lighters.

now, don't give me that whole "second amendment" speech
the clause that involves the right to bear arms is very very vague
it doesn't state for what reason we bear them
it doesn't give a level of arms

should we extend it to the right to bear military jets?
or the right to bear ICBMs?
or the right to bear suitcase nukes?

I guess those things would be vague to someone who has never read the writings of Jefferson, Adams, Jay, Hamilton and Etc.. Thomas Jefferson said flat out that it was to stop an oppressive and tyranical government. Vague because you don't understand the word "PEOPLE"? Do you think that a government is a people? the Right of the "PEOPLE" ispretty clear to most 2nd graders. You need to read the federalist and anti-federalist papers, if you do this you will understand in plain engish the meaning of the constitution from the authors points of view. To bad our schools quit teaching history and civics, the outcome has been devastating to these generations. And to answer your jet questions I will just say that thomas Jefferson said YES. He stated that whatever weapons the government had the people should be allowed to have. I am sure Jefferson didn't see the days of Nuclear Technology so I won't go into that, it would be ridiculous to say the least. Of course regular joes shouldnt have nuclear material but a Tank should be OK.

I will say this though, the day they try to disarm Americans is the day they run into trouble. They will have to kill millions of Americans, because they won't give them up freely and without a fight. the only reason we are not a full on Police-State yet is that we still have guns.

I have several AK47s, I have many other Guns also. Most are registered in my name, some are not. I have them for protection. Not for just the person who brakes in my home, but many Folks in America take it for granted that America could never be attacked. Most of our servicemen are overseas. That has left America without an Army to protect itself with.

I was just thinking about the march of several million Emmigrants that took place in Los Angeles last year. What if that had turned bad? What if it wasn't peaceful? It is a fact Los Angeles does not have enough Law Enforcement to handle this situation.

What if another country decided to invade? I have a perfectly good reason to own a AK47 and any other Gun I chose. When that invasion comes they will be using Ak47 or even better. Are you going to stop this invasion with your steak knife? What if we have an astroid, solar storm that takes out all satellites and telecomunnications. Let's just say another Katrina. Are you going to stand back and watch someone loot your house and belongings? The thugs had AK47s and shot at helecopters. What if they were shoting at you? All the Illegal gangs in America have Assault Weapons. Do you think a ban will collect these gun. Who will protect us from our government when they send NATO in? AK47 or Assault Weapons do not kill people, People kill people. The most widely used gun that has killed more people in America is a 22 cal. I would hate to try and protect myself with a 22 cal.

You can do what you want but I got your back! When your wife and daughter is being raped and you have to watch,You will wished you had an Ak47.

This Woman introduced the Bill from the hurt she feels from the loss of her husband. I feel for her also. Had her husband had an AK47, the person who shot him would have picked an weaker, easier person to shoot or pick on. Thugs only go after the weak because they are easy prey. In War the Invader brings the biggest gun it has. I hope and pray there are enough big guns in America to protect us from an Invasion, if it ever happens. If it does I will fight and give up my life for you stupid people who don't believe in big guns. I will fight and give up my life for my Kids, and fight to keep your daughter from being brutally raped because you were stupid.

Our borders are open now, What if we have a dirty bomb go off in large cities? Who ever survives will be coming after your property and your sons and daughters. Who will protect when millions come? The Police? It will every man for himself just like it was when Katrina hit. Our government can not protect us! We must be able to do it ourselves.

All my neighbors have SKS and AKs and M16s and every kind of shotgun and assault weapon you can imagine but we have no serious crime in our neighborhood. The reason is, we watch each others back even if we don't even care for each other. W e realise we have to do this to keep our neighborhood safe.

If your country wants your guns, they want to much. I for one do not trust my government to protect me. Look at what they are doing with their stupidity. I think most folks have come to the conclusion that we have been sold out to the Global Elites. America is losing it's rights. Our government knows it is impossible to take our guns. They can pass whatever executive orders they want but people will fight for the right to protect their families at all cost. I look for this to be the breaking point at which people will see we have been sold out to the Globalist.

I would lose my life to protect YOU and your DAUGHTERS. What would you do for me in return?

better buy what you want now and hide it away outside of your house because one day if its registered they will have a search warrant and seizure paper for whatever the government deems illegal at a future date---and if you are found to have it in your house when you cant find it at the day of their visitation---after they wreck your house they wont pay for the damage they do searching if they can find it.
