Tottenham have showed an interest in Nourredine Naybet, although the African defender has stressed he wants to see out the remaining year of his contract with Deportivo La Coruna.

The rugged Moroccan centre back had been tipped to head for Qatar after receiving a lucrative offer to end his playing days in the Gulf state.

However, a two-year offer is rumoured to be on the table at White Hart Lane and the lure of The Premiership could be strong for the 34-year-old.

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has played down reports suggesting he was looking to bring Michael Brown back to the club.

The influential midfielder left United in January when he moved to White Hart Lane for a nominal fee.

He started 17 Premiership games, but Jacques Santini has since been appointed Spurs coach and has already signed two new central midfielders in the shape of Sean Davis and Pedro Mendes.

However, Warnock has now stated that he has spoken with Brown and he is happy to remain at Spurs.

Tottenham are rivalling European champions Porto for the signature of Greek defender Traianos Dellas.

The Roma stopper - considered by many to be the star of Euro 2004 - is being tipped to leave Stadio Olimpico, as the Serie A giants are in need of a cash boost.

Dellas is reportedly available for around 3 million as Roma do not want to offer him an extension to his contract - which expires next season.

When's Ronaldo coming? hahaha!

I just don't think Spurs will ever be a top club again, I just can't see it happening. Also, just because this guy was the France manager I don't think that's anything to get excited about. Anyone would do well with that group of players, it's hardly proof of good coaching. I guess we'll see anyway...

Tottenham winger Simon Davies will miss the start of the season after surgery to clear up a shin problem. The 24-year-old Welsh international, who missed most of last season to the injury, had the operation on Tuesday.

Spurs face a striking crisis after Robbie Keane damaged ankle ligaments in the 2-0 defeat at Rangers. Jacques Santini, who arrived at White Hart Lane after stepping down as France coach after the Euro 2004 finals, was not content after the Ibrox friendly. Keane was stretchered off in the first half with ankle ligament damage and is a severe doubt for the opening day clash with Liverpool next month.

Tottenham have completed the signing of Swedish international defender Erik Edman.

The Barclays Premiership side finalised terms with Dutch side Heerenveen for the signing of Edman, who agreed personal terms and passed a medical later in the day.

The 25-year-old left-back played in all three of his country's group games at Euro 2004 - against Bulgaria, Italy and Denmark.

Tottenham could make it a double raid on Sweden's Euro 2004 side as Jacques Santini's North Londoners have also showed an interest in Christian Wilhelmsson, according to the player's agent.

The Anderlecht wide man can play at full back or in midfield and shone in his country's thumping of Bulgaria in Portugal.

Spurs director of football Frank Arnesen has been looking in Belgium and Holland for new talent and the blond Scandinavian is rumoured to be on his list of potential targets.

Dagui Bakari is hoping his performance in Tottenham's 2-0 friendly win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday will be enough to earn him a permanent move.

The 29-year-old Lens striker is on trial at White Hart Lane and earned a penalty in an impressive display.

Tottenham have made an enquiry for Modena midfielder Stefano Mauri, according to sources in Italy.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan with Chievo and impressed, making 27 starts in Serie A.

Jacques Santini and Frank Arnesen have been scouring Europe for fresh blood as they look to stamp their influence on White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur have swooped to sign Australian midfielder Spase Dilevski. New director of sport Frank Arnesen has returned to his former club PSV Eindhoven to land the 19-year-old.

Arnesen spotted Dilevski as a 16-year-old playing in Australia and he lured him to The Philips Stadion.

However, Dilevski failed to make the breakthrough with the Dutch giants and spent last term on loan at German side Rot-Weiss.

His contract at PSV expired over the summer and Spurs have nipped in to secure his signature.
