What on earth would be there reasoning behind it? Fireing at an oil rig and then taking it over.

The oil rig is in Iranian waters. Perhaps the Iranians dont particularly like a foreign owned company drilling for oil in Iranian territory?

Thanks for the information, Subz. I should probably also add that I don't exactly trust us either. (Us being the U.S.) I can't trust the news, i'm not sure which information sources I can trust now days...

You're very welcome but I would highly recommend not taking my word for it at face value. Research the topic thoroughly independant of anything I say. Arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible and you'll be very hard to dupe.

Anything over a 130 IQ is not good for you. They say it could be water in the brain.
Go see your doctor immediatedly.
Its not intelligence, its Edema.

Just trying to be funny. Dont come back with something nasty.

Apparently Iran is being the gnat in the geopolitical face.

Glen Beck last night was all over reports that Iran was shelling Kurds in Northern Iraq. Is Ahmadinejad's response just to be provocative without "stepping" too over the line? Perhaps.

If nothing happens today, I will make an open apology to ATS for my fear-mongering. That being said, there's still many hours to go in 8/22; in fact, it's just late afternoon in Tehran.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe todays Islamic holiday has to do with Muhammad's "night flight" to the farthest mosque, then to heaven and back... Perhaps something to do with an aerial attack at night?

With all due respect its stuff like this that makes people think we’re all nuts. This day is no more special than yesterday or tomorrow. The world will not end. It’s like those damn 6/6/6 dates. :shk:

This sort of play that some have going on here is pretty weak. Looking for events that happen almost everyday and which are nothing special by themselves then reporting and or amplifying them to fit this artificially hyped up date is nothing but straw grasping.

But by all means please continue if you think otherwise…

(I didn't start the thread, but from what I understand from what author has written: )

This thread was not started as an 'end of the world' thread, neither predicting or suggesting such. It isn't supposed to VERIFY or PREDICT anything. The thread was just meant to be a collaboration of thought to see if there may be evidence that something MIGHT happen on this date, and let people make up their own minds.

So far, my assessment of 8/22 is that nothing of much significance will happen all day, or any more significant than that of any other random day.

Recently in Columbus, Ohio there have unexplained VERY low fly-bys of military jets. Two last week with NOTHING explained by the military but a news story about a governor taking a passenger flight in the jet. The second NEVER made the news and in my current job I have access to some warnings and I took off all this week coming.

Anyone else see jets in their local community flying way below the norm for their area?

I live in Québec Canada and we've had low fly-by's last week...news said it was escorts for some VIPs
....not to sure about that.....anyways I just thought it was relevant.

Oh here we go. The monday morning quarterbacks are climbing out of their holes now. Watch, if nothing happens today we're going to have tons of people saying "I told you nothing would happen" or something along those lines. Everybody's an expert after the fact. Tons of people have been questioning what Iran had intended. Lots of people thought something would happen, including me, and ill stick by that no matter what. Lots of people were un-sure. And some said nothing would happen. If you said nothing would happen then good for you but for those who have said it would happen or made it clear they were un-sure or even didn't say anything because of this very reason, to come out and say they knew it when it didn't happen, you're pathetic. I'd be willing to bet most of you who have said or are about to say in the coming hours that you knew it, didn't truly know it.

Having said that, we still have a few hours left, but I just wanted to make my point on how pathetic it is when people do that.

I'm from Quebec too...

And last thursday, there was a party for Paul Desmarais's(power corp CEO) birthday...

Officialy a journalist on site in Charlevoix says that there were "big" visitors attending...he talked about king of Spain Juan Carlo, former Bill Clinton, former Bush sr.,Jean Charest(Quebec's premier),Lucien Bouchard(former Quebec' premier...but on the bleu side this time...)...probably Brian Mulroney,Conrad Black...ans some others i can't recall.

So it's probably all those guests's lear jets that you remark...for the guy from Quebec...is it funny or what?

------
Just another thing,i believe that there is a global agenda...run by old monarchy with bribery...blue blood obliged.

Well...again an open apology may be in order.

That being said, after all the veiled threats and saber rattling, Iran in the end wants to continue to be vague.

www.breitbart.com...

They want "serious talks" about its nuclear program. As though potential U.N. sanctions weren't serious enough? Well, they probably weren't. Like the U.N. would ever back up a threat...

...world to end August 23rd 2006 anyone? ...i mean, just look at the *proof*!!:

23/06/2006 (UK way round)...

1. (2 x 3) = 6 AND

2. (6 / 2) = 3

3. ...multiply (2.) *2 = 6

3. AND (2 + 3 + 0 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 6) = 21 which is 3 errr... ...

4. see 3. plus 2 which equals 6

5. august has 6 letters in it

6. there are six points to my thread

...perhaps there's a *weird* planetary alignment or conjunction or somesuch which could back this *theory* up? ...any takers??

just a *thought*
