But, and heres the rub - we can only perceive with our 3 dimension shells (bodies).

"They" may be on a different frequency level and thus we cannot perceive (see) them.

Got to think outside of the 3d level we are currently trapped in.

After just reading Asimov's 'The End of Eternity' I don't know whether to disbelieve what you wrote by saying that you or your source have been inspired by this book, or be terrified because the book is too close to the truth.

I would seriously recommend anyone interesting in time travel to read this, it gives an entirely new perspective on time travel and the paradoxes associated with it. If this has any truth in it whatsoever then yes, it is possible to change the past and us normal people would know nothing about such a change.

this all leads to theories of multiple dimensions. going back in time and changing it would essentially break off into another time line, creating a new instance of reality on earth. Like a tree. It started at one point, and when higher beings discovered time travel, the timeline starts looking like a tree.

Time is an illusion, so time travel would be by definition impossible, since there is nothing to traverse.

There is only the now, and incremental changes to the now. Past is a human concept, future is a human concept. They are not real.

Discussing how to time travel i see as fruitful as discussing how to travel to gotham city and meet batman. Both are produvts of our imagination

This is what i believe.

Tesla's friend Mark Twain wrote about time travel.
That might be the first recorded instance.
Shakespeare or Christopher Marlowe never did.
Perhaps the Romans or Greeks or Egyptians or Judaic writings
may have but I never came across any.
According to Velakovsky the past was so bad the only thing
people wanted was a peaceful future.

Well if time travel was ever possible then it has already happened, people say you can only travel into the past but this means you already came from the future so in a sense the future is already there unless you want to dive into alternate dimension theory..... Right now the subject is too complicated to jump into

imagining a version of our universe to be simulated in a computer, the only way for the time travel theory to work, would be if there were infinite copies of our universe, with every state saved from each one

then we would be able to go back in time at any time, to change the universe, and by that, create a new one

thats my theory, if you say its possible to travel back in time

time travel to the future is already possible

Hello Gilbert G. Gable here I have done a lot of research on time travel and here is what I have come up with:

PART 1
Time travel begins with fantasy, fiction and the compelling dream of visiting another time. Time is a very strange thing we can’t see it we can’t touch it, but for some reason we still let it rule our lives with absolute control we are trapped in the mindset of now. In 1905 Albert Einstein came up with a theory where scientist could take over where the dreamers left off. My research on time travel was based off the research of Dr. Ronald Mallett, he is physics at the university of Connecticut and believes he is very close to building a time machine that sends particles through time. There are three styles of time travel, traveling forward through time, parallel universes/free will, and traveling back in time.

First traveling forward through time this is considered to be the easiest of the three. The first real scientific breakthrough in time travel was found in the book the time machine by HG Wells. The idea was to treat time as a 4th dimension. For example Let's say Dr. Mallett gets an invitation to go to a meeting in New York City, to make sure he gets to the meeting the invitation must have a number of pieces of information on it. First it needs a street number, New York is laid out on a grid, so that number will give him a position in a north south direction. Next he needs the avenue, which gives him a position in the east west direction. So now he has found the unique location of the meeting in 2 directions or dimensions. Now he needs another piece of information to tell him where the meeting is in a 3rd dimension. This is still not enough to make sure he gets to the meeting the invitation must also carry a forth piece of information... the time. 4 pieces of information specifying a single event in 4 dimensions 3 of space and 1 in time. Here is a single event in space and time or as scientist call it space-time. The idea of the 4th dimension as explained above allows someone to be in 2 places at once. Also the space age made it possible to cross the 4th dimension. For example Serge Avadavat holds the record for space flight, he was on the Russian space station for 2 years orbiting at 16 thousand miles per hour because he was in space for such a long time and going so fast he has been propelled a fraction of a second into the future and holds the world record for time travel. In 1905 Albert Einstein showed how space, time, and energy are linked. This theory should allow real time travel to be possible it all has to do with the speed of light. For example imagine you are in a rocket ship floating deep in space and the ship has powerful headlights if he turns them on the light of the lamp races away from him at the speed of light 6 hundred and 70 million miles an hour. Lets say that there is a monkey who also has a space ship he flies away from you at a very high speed lets say half the speed of light how fast would he see the light from your head lamps if it over takes him? You would think that you would see it pass by more slowly but that’s wrong the theory says you would see it pass at the full speed of light his own speed through space makes no difference. Speed of light is the same for everyone, if both of you see the same speed something else must be changing and that something is time. So this is saying that if you are moving fast enough throw space you can alter your passage through time. Next lets say the monkeys ship had a light clock on it, which is a device that has 2 mirrors that face each other with a particle of light or photon that bounces between them. Each bounce is one tick of a clock. Time for the moving clock runs slow although if you travel with it like on the monkeys space ship you are not aware of the change because everything happening on board including the beating of your heart and function of your brain would slow down by the same amount the faster that the monkey travel

Gilbert G. Gable here posting Part 2 to my time travel theories:

PART 2
by the same amount the faster that the monkey travels the further the photon has to go between ticks and the slower time passes for him. What might be an hour for the monkey might be 100 years for us he would then be going 100 years into the future. That is the basic concept of time travel to the future.
Next traveling back in time this is much more complicated. First we have to explain the paradox theories. Suppose that you wanted to go back in time and test the theory that if you shot and killed your grandfather you would never be here today. We know that you wouldn’t be able to or at lest wouldn’t have been successful at killing your grandfather, because you are alive today and your grandfather lived a full life. So something must go wrong no matter how hard you try you will not be able to kill your grandfather something will stop you. So whatever you intentions are for testing a paradox or changing history, things will stop you from achieving them. There for we might not have any free will and everything is destined. This brings us to the theories of Dr. David Deutsch he believes that free will and time travel are not inconsistent of each other. David is the worlds leading proponent of something called parallel universe theory. The theory is that additionally to the universe we see around us there are vast numbers or parallel universes, some of them are very like our own differing in maybe just one atom, and others are very different such as I am reading this paper and you are at home watching TV. This strange idea comes from the study of sub atomic particles. Lets say that a hockey rink is like the universe that uses all the laws of physics, but if the game where shrunk down to the sub atomic scale. Sometimes a sub atomic particle like a hockey puck could be traveling along and then change course for no reason that we can observe. This is the strange world of quantum mechanics, physicists still argue about what is going on. David’s answer is almost as strange as the problem, he believes what really is happening is that the universe we see is only part of physical reality there are parallel universe and each particle in our universe has counter parts in many of the parallel universes and under some conditions these counter parts effect the particles we see. The universes are interfering with each other all the time. This behavior can be explained by the particles hitting other hidden particles ones that belong to hidden universe at which a different version of events is played out these parallel universes would allow a time traveler to do whatever he or she wanted to do. David believes that if you where to travel into the past you would come into the past of another universe and that’s why there is no problem with free will because in the universe in which you emerge you can do whatever you want and whatever you do there wont effect the universe that you came from. For example in one universe you would just disappear never to be seen again and in the other you would just appear and be able to do whatever you want without any repercussions. And neither universe contains a paradox. And the theory states that there are an infinite number of these parallel universes and that time travel would involve skipping through all these universes. A working time machine could test this idea and if it is correct not only does free will exist the nature of reality itself is very strange.
Dr. Mallett believes that the paradoxes are only going to be solved after they build the first successful time machine. Building a real time machine will not be easy but if Mallett is right, the biggest revolution mankind will ever see is upon us. And sooner then you might think. Although Einstein correctly worked out that traveling very fast sends you into the future a further development of the theory should allow travel into the past and even if it is only a particle or 2

Gilbert G. Gable here posting Part 3 to my time travel theories:

PART 3

That would be a massive advance. The plan that Mallett has is to use intensely powerful rings of laser light to twist time into a loop, and effect predicted by the theories of Albert Einstein. So with a circulating beam of light you create a rotating region of space as if you are stirring a cup of water also in addition to twisting space, in Einstein's theory space and time are linked so you cause a twisting of time also. So if we can think of time in a straight line from the past to the present to the future, if Dr. Mallett can close this line into a loop he can go from the past to the present to the future, but because he is on a loop he can go from the future back into the past. It is not going to be simple, but it will be able to be done. The form that machine would take is a stack of lasers creating layers of circulating light around which the predicted loops in time should occur. In the past traveling back in time has been explained by going really fast basically breaking the speed of light. For example in the superman movies he flew around the earth at such a speed that he arrived before he left. Now this may be impossible, but sci-fi sometimes contains a grain of truth and if somehow you could travel faster then light you would travel to the past and that’s the key to Dr. Mallett's amazing idea. For example going back to you and the monkey in space if they both have light clocks on there space ships, and the monkey travel's around the earth as fast as he wants, lets say we are flying along with the monkey we will zoom past you and you are stationary, once each round and here relativity will come into play seeing from this moving point of view we see now that it is your clock that has to take a longer path to get from one mirror to the other and even though you are not moving, for us your clock will begin to run slow the faster that the monkey goes the slower your clock tick, if somehow we could break the speed of light the clock would not only slow down it would also stop and then begin to run backwards just as predicted we would be traveling into the past, but the problem is there is a law of physics preventing you from reaching the speed of light. But this still doesn't mean you can't travel into the past there is another way. You have to discover a way to cheat somehow you have to be like superman and exceed the speed of light, but also you can’t break the laws of physics. There is an object in space that you can use for just this a rotating black hole. A black hole has the power to move empty space, the Phenomenon is called frame dragging, it is Einstein’s lesser know ideas, although a simple cup of water can show the principle lets say that space is like the water in this cup as I stir the water it swirls around to the motion of the spoon and lets say I drop and object inside the cup what’s happening is it is not moving through the water rather the water is moving the object around. This idea allows the object to break the light speed barrier without breaking the laws of physics. Of course there is a problem with this kind of time machine black holes are not readily available, this is where Dr. Mallett had a stroke of realization that hidden in Einstein's theory all along there is something better at twisting space, light itself. His idea is to use a circulating light beam to twist space and close time too a loop the key challenge is to get enough laser power. He is looking at different possibilities to over come that challenge. Laser technology is extremely advanced. Lasers exist that can create conditions as hot as the center of the sun. An array of lasers like those can be made to fire simultaneously producing not just a tiny ring, but also a cylinder of light with enough power to twist space. Dr. Mallett expects that particles may appear out of nowhere even though he didn't put anything into the machine and those would be particle

from experiments he performed next week or a year from then. This would be a real time machine and that means when you turn it on today and you leave it on, it will only act for the time that you have it on for, so if he turned it on today and left it on for 100 years you could only travel from a 100 years from now up to today, but you could not travel to before the machine was turned on. While we might want to think that a time machine would open up the past that’s not strictly true it's only in the future that time travel to the past is possible. Then only back to the moment at which the first time machine was turned on, but of course this asks a question, what happens when you first switch on the machine. It’s possible when you turn it on you might get messages from the future. From people who try to communicate with Dr. Mallett.
In conclusion, time travel is and will be possible. This is a broad statement, to some people yes time travel is and will be possible, but to others this is not so true, people still think time travel is a taboo subject, but it could help us learn what we need to do in the future and help us change what will happen to us. We can solve many problems of the world, maybe find cures, save people from disaster maybe even find out if there is a god and if everything is destined or we have free will. Time travel will answer all these questions if Doctor Ronald Mallett ever achieves it.

THANK YOU FOR READING AND PLEASE RESPOND ON HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS!

the timeline could have been changed countless times without us knowing. we'd just wake up, and go about our lives like we do every day, with no knowledge or memory of what came before.

This is very true and that is why there is many different ideas of time travel what you have stated is the idea of many different dimensions that is why we do not know what changed, but if that is the idea that you believe in which is totally acceptable then you must believe in free will, if you believe in the other style of time travel then you do not believe in free will.

I would love to hear what everyones favorite style of time travel is.

Thanks Gilbert

some believers of Parrellel Universe Thoery think that the in the dimension that we live in there may be a handful of "Time Travelers" who are really visitors from a parrellel universe. These vistors come from a universe where this travel has already been discovered

First we need to define what time is, instead of labeling an abstract ;

Time is the measurement of motion in the Natural world, specifically the rotation of the earth, the orbit around the sun on the macro scale, and the vibrations of Cesium atom in the micro scale. We are merely measuring the speed of Motion in celestial and atomic entities. This is why scientists refer to it as Space / Time, the two are forever interlinked.

If you wish to travel through time, we are stating its possible to travel through the physical world, a shortcut through material of the Universe. The example of travelling at light speed is not travelling through time, as the rocket did not actually shortcut through physical space, it traveled at higher rate of speed though the normal physical limitations of the Natural World.
The people he left experienced time as a Natural state, as did the rocket. It is Only when we compare them in relative terms does a disparity arise, but it is still not traveling through the space time fabric. It is travelling through one frame of reference at faster rate than the other. Neither frame has been violated and the rocket did not disturb the Natural physical world. It is not time travelling, it is travelling faster than the control group though physical space.

the other approaches; worm holes, machines, teleporting, etc, fail to take into account the Motion of the Universe. Assuming a machine is built to travel through Time; We set the controls for 1 year into the future. We enter the machine and hit start, and then we materialize into empty space, as the earth has moved through the universe hundreds of millions of mile from its location when the start button was hit. Assuming a shortcut is possible, we would still never be able to locate where the earth would actually be on any given moment.

Worm holes are the same ; the universe is not a Stable environment. it is chaos and constantly changing and moving in directions we cannot measure. To have a stable worm hole would require the Universe to sit still, which would never occur. Stars and planets orbit at incredible speeds around each other and the center of their galaxies, The universe will not sit still or suspend its Chaos to allow manipulation in this manner

The last aspect ; Time is a Human device to measure velocities and Motion, it is not something humanity can alter as it can the physical world. Because we label and break it down to minutes, hours and seconds to allow technology and train schedules to be maintained, does not mean we can manipulate it.

We can no more travel through time than we can change the orbit of the earth or the motion of the milky way though the Universe.

If there is something that locks the past, then you won't be able to make changes so it won't matter.

The other answer is that you will create an alternate timeline, in the original one nothing would change, in the alternate one things will be different, the attacks would be stopped so things will go in a different path, so people wont know anything about people going to the past to change things, etc, the only one who will know something will be you because when you get back to present time you will get back to the new timeline, not to the old.

I think time travel requires a lot of actual physics, worm hole, science, math, and how the universe works to understand completely how this question can not be answered simply by posting on an online forum. Sure its easy to speculate the what if's and "probably", but honestly when it all comes down to it, your all just speculating. Nobody here from what i gather has a degree even remotely close to a masters in any of the above mentioned sciences, and is neither qualified to talk legitimately about the topic. I'm not telling you to not discuss if or preventing you from freedom of speech, I'm just merely stating the paradox of asking a question that no one can truly answer. If you do indeed have a masters in one of these sciences "Im sorry and take back the above statement". If we are purely speculating about the subject, i think its easy to say that time travel is possible in many different senses, though some are more problematic for physical adaptation. The amount of theories surrounding this subject are as vast as the universe. I personally believe that time is unfaltering and constant. I believe that time will never cease to be, it is the one invulnerable thing that continues on regardless of things around it. Time has been proven that it can be manipulated, and if it can be played around with...then why wouldn't it be probable to think it can be implemented into conventional means. We only use about what....10% of our brain? I think that in time we will finally unlock the hidden powers inside us all to think on more then just 3 dimensions, hell maybe sometime we will be looking back at this day and reading how "primitive" we used to be in terms of thinking. I firmly believe until we figure more out about ourselves, we have no chance of unlocking the possibility's of time travel. Until that "Time", everything we discuss is just theory
