Linda was an abductee who was taken from her apartment by aliens and there were witnesses. all of this took place around the Brooklyn Bridge which is located near Battery Park in....Manhattan

I just guessed a search in google, "battery park ufo", as in battery park new york close to manhattan. That hinted to brooklyn bridge, and it was correct.

Maybe . means the period of the mothman sightings or something like that?

I thought maybe it's meant to be "period" as in what period are these UFO phenomena from ... but mothman was first around in '66 and Linda was abducted in '89 (both courtesy of wiki).
