My iPad keeps getting hi-jacked when I visit ATS. The ads are so obnoxious now I mostly go elsewhere. Funny thing ... my iPad doesn't get hi-jacked anywhere else.

This "win an iphone" pop up is now appearing even when logged in to ATS. Ergo, I am now reporting it in this thread.

My original observation is here:

This has to go, or the add block comes out really, really fast.

yes, the adds have to do with what you normally look at. Bikinis? I bet your browser history is spicy.

While working on a thread in a word processing program, I had an ad pop up in my browser window that I had open to the ATS search results related to my thread. The ad popped up with no interaction from me with anything in that window at all.

I also notice that if I am on the site on my mobile device as of last night, ads from the same provider that open another browser window if I click the "X" to close the ad.

We have a picture of vivid pink penis, not totally raging although it is smeared in what appears to be vaseline.

Its in one of the new pop ups on mobile.

Apparently i should try doing "it" before i take viagra again.

Part of me worries that its vicks vaporub and not petroleum jelly. We've all been there.

While logged into ATS I have never gotten any pop ads displayed on my phone when in the recent or forums pages.
As far as I remember the ads were based on the activity of the user, which shouldn't have changed much for me.

However, now I get different pop up ads on the bottom right of my screen while on ATS on my mobile. The ads don't display anywhere else but only on ATS.

Also no pop blocker changes on my device either.

Was a new change implemented that effects this on ATS or do I need to go worry about gremlins on my mobile device? Just wanted to ask before putting to much time on dissecting my device .

Update:
It appears that this is a thing now. I get it and see it from both sides perhaps we can come up with a middle ground?

1. ATS need funds to continue, nobody will argue that.Atleast I hope not?

2. Pop up ads are rather annoying even though I understand its a necessary evil when their is no membership fees.

3. Charging membership fees will likely cause a mass exodus.

Now I really don't know much about inner or outs of online advertising nor how the rules associated with it.

However, is the following a valid compromise that wouldn't break advertisers requirements?

The issue with popup ads is that it ruins the users experience and takes them out of the moment.

I would be ok with supporting ATS and clicking on the ads purposely every x amount of times, but at my discretion.

In other words when I log in or x amount of time has passed I get a notification saying you need to click 10 ads within the next x days. So the next time I log in I go to a section of ATS where the ads are kept and I click 10 ads and my counter gets reset. Now I have x amount of days to continue reading and participating without being annoyed by a pop up ad during the middle of reading or creating a thread?

Is that even an option or will that break some type of online regulations against advertisers?

I'd rather pay a small fee and be ad free...

I know this is probably not related in anyway but has anyone else also noticed that the site seems really slow or has been over the past few days.

If I click to refresh its normal instant yet sometimes it takes seems to take much longer.

I second that.

I would like to see one of the owners explain if we have options.

I am suddenly, starting today, getting bottom window popup ads...havent had them for as long as I can remember.

Makes me want to just not post until they are gone.

I understand ad revenue and all, but I'd personally give $50 to not have them here. I can't imagine ANYONE on this site is clicking on the ads that I've seen....

Na just seems to be really slow at times for me.

Its strange because every other site is still. as fast as normal but ATS feels really sluggish

could the adds be slowing things down

It's not a penis, it's a finger; although I can see how some might think otherwise.
