i hope no one gets annoyed if i bring this gripe to this forum...

with that being said, i noticed recently that when you add a hyperlink (by using the hyperlink button) in a post, all your text gets erased (if there was any text before you added the link) and the only think in the text box is the link...

it is really just an annoying little problem, but it can become a huge problem if one typed a very long post and (before posting it) then decided to add a hyperlink to a word in this post...

all of this work would be erased and just the link would exist...

this problem occurs in ATS / BTS / PTS...

also, this problem occurs with the "insert email hyperlink" and "insert an image" (and maybe others) buttons...

so...

can we fix it???

We've spotted it, and it has been brought up in the staff forum.

Will be fixed as soon as we can.

I'm not able to reproduce it.

Does it happen all the time, or just occasionally?

For me it's all the time. Annoying to say the least.

Springer,

I was just trying to post 2 links in a reply to a thread. I had my first link, then the external verbage and when I tried to post the 2nd link, it wiped the whole post and inserted the 2nd link that I was adding.

It happens to me when I try to post using AOL and it does it when I use IE.

At times, it will throw my link completely askew.

Example:

[url]

www.whatever-link.com

[/url

and it won't let me take out the spaces in between. If I try to delete a space, it deletes a character in the line, not a space.

Yeah, it gets frustrating. Thanks for your help, Springer.

So... okay, I'm typing something... and now I'll click the link button ats and make a link, so then I'll try again bts and make another think.

This all worked fine for me.

Nothing in the JavaScript changed other than adding three new functions for the ATS-specific tags.

this is very weird indeed...

i just typed in the text box "ok let me try now," then i hit the spacebar and clicked on the "insert a hyperlink" button and typed a link in and my "ok let me try now" text disappeared and all that was there was the link code i made...

It happens to me more often than not, and I agree that it can be *very* frustrating, esp. if you've typed a long post. You're not the first to notice this.

But here's a way to get around it:

Before you click on the Add Hyperlink button, do a Preview Post. That way, if your text does disappear, all you need to do is cut and paste the disappeared text. And, tweak all the tags, like "quote", which get messed up also.

Good luck.

TSA, thank you.

That was a typing mistake that I made in my example.

And yeah, I was talking to SO.

It's not been a good day.

Thanks again,

Indeed, it's happened to me with the image button.

I stopped using the buttons because of it, now I just type in the BBcode and be done with it.
