Do all the buttons do this for you or just the link button?

For me, I only use the LINK button, so I can't advise you on the use of the other buttons.

And yeah, for the tip about hitting the PREVIEW button, I had forgotten that. Thanks for suggesting it again.

I'm on a Mac and it works fine with every browser I've tried.

It's going to be hard to track this down without being able to reproduce it myself.

All the buttons do it, for me anyways.

I've started to use the button, then copy what was put in the reply box, then click undo which brings back what I had before, then paste what I had copied.

I would type the bb code, but I type slower than anyone else I know.

Why not post link first, then type text afterwards?

Perhaps it has to do with what Java updates your computer has. I'm on a Mac OSX, Safari browser, Java 5.0 release 4 installed.

BTS Link

Looks like it works.

That would work, if you only do one quote.
If you want to have several quotes with some bold words and add a link or two and an image you're up the creek.

This is probably related to the same problem.

1. Edit an old post.
2. Add some text in the entry field.
3. Click "preview post".
4. Poof, text you added is gone from text entry field.

In otherwords, you can't use "preview post" when you edit an old post since no new changes will be made.

Telos, the third most recent active thread in this forum is:

Custom mini-profile backgrounds disabled, U2U notice... (and new servers)

Did you not notice it?

To me it happens with Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.21800 but not with Mozilla 1.5.0.2

The "undo" function only works when used from the menu, if I use the keyboard the "undo" does not work after one of those buttons has been used.

If you change the first line of the function AddText from:

if(document.all)[

to :

if(document.all && !document.get)[

it seems to work in IE and in Mozilla, at least for me works, but maybe it stops working in other cases.

Also, I am not familiar with JavaScript, so I may be completely wrong.

I just wrote a great, concise post for the following thread: May 1 Protest -Will it hurt or help illegals?. I completely lost it when I used BB code. I did not Ctrl+C because it was one paragraph with serious punch

Then I posted the URL for that thread in this post and it erased what I wrote AGAIN

What a big, frickin' waste of my time

The link problem is happening for me too, I noticed it last night and thought I was just sleepy and had deleted everything

You could just type you post out in Notepad or something and past it in the window till the problem's fixed. Worked for me.

ats

Good idea... I was going to focus on that function later tonight... I made the change, let me know if it works for you (worked for me, see above).

Lets see ...

If this works...

Apparently, yes.

ATS

Edit:
And still works in Mozilla.

[edit on 29/4/2006 by ArMaP]

And works with Mozilla 1.2.1 in Red Hat Linux
