I hope both stay even with each other. Competition is good. Keeps the prices down.

i have one question, why does the AMD XP model line use figures like 2000 and 2500 when the processor speed is nowhere near that? i bought a 2000, checked it out and it was runnin at like 1.4. so i freaked out and overclocked it to the hilt and now its at 1.66. is this false advertising, a trick played on misinformed consumers or just a set of models on a model line which have nothing to do with processor speeds. I'm pissed, but i know AMD are damn good. Next time its a Pentium cause i feel robbed.

This is more of a marketing tactic. The AMD 2000+ is supposed to compete with the Pentiums around 2.0 Ghz. Even though the AMD is running at a slower clock rate, most of the time outperforms the Pentium, even the slightly faster ones. Faster clock is not necessarily better.

LOL!!!! Most of the time I sell the old parts to my friends when I upgrade. Nice try though.

ok ...ok ...what's with all the bragging now?

Guess I'll jump in.

My current setup (home)

AMD Athlon XP 2400 (@ 2Ghz - not overclocked)
512 Mo DDR (@333Mhz)
GeForce 4 MX 440 (with 64 Mo)
Some Epox m0b0, can't remember the model
A nice old Soundblaster Live! 5.1 plugged on my 300 watt amplifier.
Plextor CD-Writer 42x
LG DVD Player
1 hd of 40 gig @ 7200 rpm, and 1 hd of 80 gig @7200
(ATA 133) Starting to look at SATA hard disk. Man those things run like hell.
My video card as tv-out plugged on a 32 inch Sony tv.
I got this big Antec case, black, with a door on the front.
I don't have enough finger to count all my USB port.
Just got the new Act-Labs Force RS system, with USB shifter and performance pedals.

I use it for games, 3d, web design, surfing and playing movie. It's like my home theater.

AMD kick ass.

Insite: It's not false advertisement. Just a model number, read the spec. It's written on the box what's the real clock of the processor.
