IIRC the third and final shot from the M-1 went through a sand dune, then penetrated the T-72. The T-72 had pulled back after the sabot round bounced off.

Also, for those who are saying oh noes! sabot can pierce abrams! that shot WAS to the back of the turret, doesnt take a genius to figure out where the armour is weakest...

erm a DU sabot can punch through the armour - even from the front
