Texas man gets life for beating infant

HOUSTON, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- A Texas father has been sentenced to life in prison for breaking almost ever bone in his infant daughter's body.

She survived despite the injuries.

The Houston Chronicle reports 23-year-old Ivan Emmanuel Castaneda maintained his innocence during the sentencing Friday in Houston. He said the mother was the culprit.

Twenty-year-old Donna Marie Norman is awaiting trial on charges she didn't protect her children from the abuse.

The couple's abuse against their two children started before the February incident when hospital officials say their 6-month-old child even had a lacerated tongue as well as broken bones, police said.

Their oldest child suffered a broken leg in 2003, when she was 1-month-old.

Castaneda was originally arrested for that incident but released when Norman told police she dropped the baby on accident.

She testified Friday she didn't drop the baby and lied only because Child Protective Services wanted an explanation for the incident before giving her children back.

Castaneda must serve at least 15 years before being eligible for parole, although it can drop to nine years with good behavior.

Norman's trial begins in February.

He deserves far worse.... As for the wife, she desrves no less. :shk:

I agree... let the child live with a family that would be loving yet stern so that (s)he could grow up to live a good life.

The parents should have all their bones broken too... then shot.

They are all disgusting. There's something seriously wrong the mindsets of people like that, it makes pacifists want to be vigilantes.

KILLER SPITS AT FAMILY OF VICTIM

A THUG who battered a mum to death with a rock spat at her family yesterday as he was found guilty of murder.

Ben Redfern-Edwards, 21, killed beautician Jacqueline Ross, 44, as she walked her dog Rosie.

Only a few days earlier he had been freed from a Young Offenders' Institution for attempted armed robbery.

Mrs Ross from New Mills, Derbys, suffered "horrific" head injuries and died nine days later.

Prosecutors at Chester claimed the attack in Disley, was sexually motivated but there was no evidence of a sex assault.

Redfern-Edwards saw Mrs Ross as he returned from an all-night drinking session. He told his parents her dog bit him.

The word scum is too good for the likes of them.

That coward deserves no mercy.

It's something they should consider when sentencing some "quality time" for family members who wish some recompence.

It seems in our attempts to better ourselves we now treat evil with kid gloves and protect their rights...makes me sick.

Horrible as it is, I don't consider this proof of evil. I consider proof there are some twisted people out there.

If anything, the fact that we're so upset by this is proof that there isn't evil out there, or at least more good.

To call breaking nearly every bone in an infant child's body over a sustained period of time as being merely "twisted," strikes me as an obscene understatement!

The depravity required to do something like that exceeds normal words.

May his fellow inmates have no mercy.
