China just made the CQ-5.56 and called it China's M4. Here are some pics.

Won't ever go into service, they probably made it for fun.

I can't see your pics, but why would China do this? it makes no sense unless they are after the export market. They don't use 5.56 (they use 7.62x39 and a new locally designed caliber) - seems odd.

NORINCO churs out such items all the time , they even have an AK-47 `clone` in 5.56

they must wake up every morning and think to them selves
why design something for our selves when we can copy something and improve on it

and improve on it

I have yet to see this, but as far as the copying goes, no argument there.

Wheeee! Cheap AR-15's here we come! go China

I do hope they export to the US civilian market, they'd make a very nice buck

So does China really still use the 7.62x39? don't get me wrong, I love the round, but for military use?

Yeah, i think they still use AK-47's as standard issue, thats a .30, but dont quote me on that

the 7.62x39mm ammunition is close to the ballistics of the 30-30 round IIRC, although the M43 (7.62x39) round has Spitzer type bullets that offer more penetration.

It's also close to the German Kurzpatrone PP43 7.92x33 and the .30cal Carbine round, but the M43 is superior in the amount of energy, there is a great list on Max Popenker's modern firearms site.

it's funny that the Nazi PP43 and M43 were both introduced in '43, the PP43 was for the MP-44 or Stg-44 and the M43 for the SKS, later the AK-47.

Your quite right 7.62 x 39mm for the AK-47 , the AK-74 on the other hand has a bullet much like the M-16's 5.56 small high velocity ( 5.45x39mm ) IMO they should have stuck with the 7.62 round they only really changed over because the americans went with a smaller round. Michael Kalashnikov has always been for modernizing the 7.62 rather then going with the 5.45

As for this M-4 rip off nothing new from China they did the same thing with the AK-47. Russia gave them the AK as a gift and now they sell AK knock offs all around the world.

Its kind of sad that a country that gave the world many inventions such as paper, gun powder, the compass etc.. have seemed to have lost all their ingenuity and are content with ripping off others designs.

Egyptians created "sheets" of papyrus but paper was invented by the Chinese.

Paper and Papyrus are not really the same thing

Just wondering, when did the Iranians last win a conflict. They were certainly beaten by the Iraqis in 1980 - 88.

Looks like a copy of the Steyr AUG. Nice gun so I wouldn't be surprised if that's all it is.

Its looks like more of a FAMAS too me, But a FAMAS is pretty close to a Steyr AUG. The carrying handle makes me lean more to FAMAS

Great, it seems like rifles have evolved to a point where every single one look more or less the same....

Whatever happened to original designs like P90s and that rifle which uses ceaseless ammo.
