I see I take a few months off to do some R&R and the wheels darn near fall off. What's all this whining about lost points? The preoccupation with something that has no intrinsic value is mind-numbing. First, anyone with a few twigs and pebbles on a stretch of dirt can figure out that their point total merely needs to be added up, and viola! Your original total. Second, the new point allocation is here, live with it. I'm amused that some here really think that their posts are worth more than one or two points. Sometimes I think the members should be paying ATS for hosting the drivel that [sic] graces this august board. Third, the staff here at ATS has better things to do than to listen to all this bellyaching, heck do you know inconvenient it is to plan a massive code overhaul like this in between hanging out in the staff beer garden, err, lounge and the staff day spa? Darn tootin it's tough, and it's not getting any easier! So suck it up, and post at will, you never know, you might just hit something.

Dismissed.

I like the new Points System.

I think it will encourage awareness to all that ATS,ATSNN,BTS,P@ATS has to offer.

First, SO... great work, the forum changes look fantastic.

Second, everytime there is a change people always run and squack about it. We voted in council members who made suggestions, those suggestions were implemented. Plain and simple.

If you don't like the changes, vote them out of office come election time. But please stop complaining about the changes. It's not like your complaints, as they get louder and more numerous, will cause the Admins to scrap the new board and revert it back to the way it was.

I have a question. How do I have points accumulated for PTS? I've been to PTS about as many times as Christopher Lowell's been to Scores.

Normally I would'nt take the time to add my opinion/thoughts on matters of this nature, but I must say, this new system is (as the common folk say) sucky.

I happen to like the old system better.

Perhaps we could have a vote for which system to use, outline how each system works, than have a vote on which one to use.

Anyways, I'm going to step back into the shadows know.

We were not offered the choice to vote against the points system revamp, only the choice to vote 'for' it.

And that is why im 'complaining'

I performed a random sample of 20 members with 500 posts (or more) in the past 30 days. The ratio came out to be:
ATS posts: 55%
BTS posts: 35%
PTS posts: 10%

Couldnt we have this:

ATS Points
BTS Points

That would solve everyones problems wouldnt it?

Now that would be a good idea MickyDee, I might shut up then. Cant there be a feature that alows us to choose which we prefer?

What will the new 'revolutionary' change be, paying cash for avatars?

Just a thought, as u revamp the points given out, are u going to revamp the "cost" of items we buy with thoses points?
Case and point-(haha) it costs 500 points/month for rats-that works out to between 250 and 500 posts per month.
In my opinion, that is a little steep.

I agree mon, the RATS entrie cost and monthly cost needs to be changed, otherwise no new members will be able to afford it.

The store has re-opened as the last of the code changes for the 3-board points system is now complete.

Could someone point me to an explanation of the new system. I don't get it.

I have to leave now, but will be back in a few hours.

Thanks.

Though that may be true to a certain extent, let me remind everyone that the giving of the points to allow for this points system change was voluntary.

Points are simply points, and to me, IMHO, way too much time is being given to the issue of points. It reminds me of working people who complain that they are not making enough money. Guess what, no matter how much you make, there will be those who will continually complain that they do not get paid enough money.

When I joined, as with a number of others, there was NO point system.
Something to think about.
What do points do for you anyhow?
Allow you access to RATS? Oh my....big lose there.
Change your background color or text coloring?

Other than that, it would appear to me that great thought and debate was given to this new points system. Its a flat dividend across the boards change, which is good compared to how it used to be.
It will cause members to post more, and hopefully they will be quality posts.

Anyhow, change is good.
Be positive, and remember: Points are nothing but points; they have value to some and no value to others.
Quit making a mole hill out of nothing.

Great job, staff and council members.

Let me say this about the point system. It was here when I got here, so it's pretty much synonymous with ATS, in my mind. Most people do care about points, even if they may not understand why. In most settings, our point system is called a token economy.

It's all about behavior modification and for the most part, it works. Positive reinforcement, punishment and status consciousness are a few of the concepts at play. Casinos work pretty much the same way, even if they offer real money, but then again the players are putting up real money, so it's only fair.

So, even though some may say points are only about points, in reality points are about much more and the data support that.

Thanks, Seekerof.
