Thanks to Umbrax for a great idea on a contest for members in this post:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

We're opening up a member contest to generate randomly selected images that will show where this image appears on the site home page:
external image
Notice how the image "scales", with the left portion being the import area.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Guidelines:

The image must not show identifiable faces.
It must not be created from copyrighted source images.
It must use the ATS logo provided below.
It must be full-color.
Must not depict violence or an illegal act.
The dimensions of the full-resolution image should be 2400 pixels wide by 400 pixels tall.

Post your creations creations in this thread as 600x100 JPEGs. I will be the sole judge and jury, and selected images (one per member) will win the artist 5,000 ATS points and credit in the final image used on the site.

Please make sure your retain a high resolution version in the 2400x400 size, as this is what I'll use to create new images for the main page.

New ATS logo for reference.

(We'll also have a T-Shirt design contest coming soon)

What font is the new ATS logo in and where can we download it?

I would assume that all you would have to do is right click on the image provided and "save as"... That way, you can incorporate the image directly without worry-ing about screwing up.

In order to add some 3D and Vector effects it would be easier to have the font. For 2D, the Copy/Paste method is alright.

Sorry, but we wouldn't select any submissions that alter the logo in any way. Logos are sacred.

That logo is so bright it gives me a headache. It really needs to be softened up a bit.

By using uv mapping you can put 2d graphics on 3d objects. I suggest the free version of UV Mapper Pro. You can only use obj. files with it so if you are using 3ds or lwo or some other 3d format you will have to convert it to obj.

So does this mean that only the left 1200px of the image will ever be visible? So we could just as easily leave the right 1200px blank? Or did I misunderstand?

And when you say the logo is sacred, does that mean we can't change the color or have it embossed in objects?

How about a banner for each forum topic that gets randomly rotated up top and a winner in each category? That way we can focus on whatever topic interests us most and all us truly pitiful artists won't feel left out..

edit/ oh.. looks like that's the plan. should have read the first post, duh.
