Sorry tim i have to disagree with the F-15 upgrades. you would have to changes the entire airframe of the plane to get it up to 23 or 22 stealth. also i think that ppl seem to forget on this forum that when they dis the 22 for not being ready in june of 05 and its first full sqn will be up and running at full steam in late nov or early dec. oh and jra i think you can scrap any hope of canada getting the 22 unless either u or me take over and kick out martin and his group of idiots.

the YF23 is a great plane but the F22 won because it has better manuvrabilty and so its has a better suvivabilty rate

i like the F23 better

Look the main factor the F-23 did not win was cost. In every other category both aircraft were almost the same they both had their strength but the main deciding factor was cost.

Wich is idiotic considering the F-22 now costs more than the YF-23.

The Raptor is around 100-110mil and cost will go down after the first batch hit the runway, if the F-23 was being put into production its cost would have been higher than 110mil. Something to do with more specialized parts and the materials used on it.

This free online book has a section detailing differences between the YF/23 and the F-22, if you're intersted. Be warned, it's a 135 page PDF, so it may take a minute or two to load.

The raptor's cost will still rise, why?
Because the people who created it say so..
The Black widow 2's would not, it would decrease.

america is super rich

why dont we build both varients f22 and f23

i myself think an america which has f22s AND f23s is a better nation than the one that only employs one of the cool jets

we can easily afford it...theres waste everywhere

$$$ isnt an issue when your

The United States of America!

edit:: all we gotta do is tax the corporations a whole 1% lol
it would make them very mad but screw them we need raptors and black widows

also we could just stop paying politicians being they are super rich Already!
and we could EASILY build a few black widows if we didnt pay our politricks

there is countless ways to get the $$ needed... like raising the price of the stamp 1 cent

lets see here
if we Did Not attack Iraq which cost what 100billion $?
we could buy over 1000 f22s and f23s

which is better ?
attacking iraq for whatever reason
or building a fleet of 1000 stealth jets ?

lol duh

DW where you get this idea that the Black Widow would come out the assembly line perfect and not need to be upgraded.

Actually, using this logic, why don't we just invade Switzerland with the military we do have, steal all their money, and build both jets? Heck, if we have that in the works, we could go slightly into debt beforehand building them, then use them to pay for themselves.

It would come out the assembly complete, the F-22 would be continuelly.
I aslo got it from reading about the F-22 and YF-23...I believe a poster before me mentioned it as well...

What do you mean continually? Every aircraft gets upgraded after is enters service until it leavers service.

No I mean everything in the project would be complete , the F-22 would have parts of the project added later on.

Like what? I'm not aware of any major systems on the Raptor not being operational when it eneters service.

More advanced systems, there is tech that has yet to be added to the F-22.
This is besides from the normal updates.
