I guess what I'm trying to get to saying is that maybe one of the spirits wants you to put the vestibule back where it originally was since it most likely knows you're remodeling the place.

Just read this post during the last few days and it is really spooky. i myself have encountered and heard many strange occurances, but never actually lived in an apparant haunted house.

My ex girlfriend's house was haunted though

Just wondering whats gona happen next in this thread - its better than most soaps on television tbh

I was up all night with stomach pains from taking an anti biotic too late last night.

Evidently our "Ghost" decided it was a good night to re arrange the attic... I heard a series of bumps and drags for about two and a half hours.

It never sounded exactly like footfalls or I would've gone up the "ladder" into the attic with the 3030 locked and loaded.

It REALLY sounded like someone re arranging things up there though. It's hard to describe in written word. Seriously though it was bizarre.

We got our first real "norther" in day before yesterday, Sunday, the temperature dropped down to freezing Sunday night and it's frosty outside right now (5:30am).

I haven't closed the "Widow's Watch" up for winter yet and our "Ghost" doesn't seem to like that cold air coming in through the louvres.

I may close it up today but I know if I do it'll nice and warm again and I'll wish I could run the attic fan and pull all that fresh CLEAN country air through the house.

Guess I'll wait until November like I do every year...

Springer...

I'm excited about this latest experience by Springer. This is definitely a trend. Three years in a row that activity occurs in the attic beginning near the latter part of October into November. If you'll remember in the past I have connected this with sealing of the widow's watch, but as Springer just stated, he hasn't done that yet this year. It remains to be seen if we'll have another significant event within a week of him doing that as we did the past 2 years.

The interesting thing about Springer's account of what he heard last night in the attic is that it matches very closely with what I heard that night 2 years ago just around this time of year. 30 minutes of what sounded like some one walking around (human gait) and then the sound of a metal something (to me it sounded like a coffee tin) being moved around including dragging and "setting down" every once in a while. That's the night the springs on the attic door started creaking like it was opening and freaked me out!

Wow. It sounds like your ghosts are pretty constant in their behavior. Have you ever tried taking pictures of the attic every ionce in awhile to see if you can pick up and more ectoplasmic phenomena?

Isn't this just the time of the year to get some 'ghost hunters' with equipment in. if you feel this is a constant at this time of the year.

this continues to be an exciting story.

I'm not sure I want to do that, Floh. I'm not saying I wouldn't ever want to, but I can't say I feel too comfortable with it right now. I guess my hang up is what if they did something wrong and made things get negative - when they really aren't right now. Springer and I are going to place the voice activated recorder up in the attic tonight and see if it catches anything.

Maybe we'll catch another weird sound like I did in 2003.

Something may have happened in their 'earthly existence' during this time of the year, that they are reliving on the anniversary......any mention of a death in October or November?

Do you find that any of the items in the attic have actually moved, after you hear one of these episodes? Or are they just moving 'spectral' items rather than material ones?

You need a video or web camera that you can leave up there on a regular basis....be your own TAPS, but less intrusive, so as not to unsettle any thing too much!

You know what might be neat? What if (next time I have 2 thin dimes to rub together) I get me a webcam and set up a webcam feed on my server and then it would be watching all the time.

I can't wait until you catch something solid, if you have a live feed cam I'll deffinately be interested in viewing it. Good luck!

Hay Val, have either you or spencer gone up there when this noise is going on? Maybe they are trying their hardest to get you to find something.

Love the webcam idea! I have one and it has this setting on it where it will turn on if anything moves infront of it. I had it on in my office for a while (have a ghost issue myself) it was scary how many times it turned on in the middle of the night. It is not sound activated, it is motion activated. I think it was like $100 or something, but I bet they are a lot cheeper now.

I did not realize that you could get them with this feature. We have a cheapo right now and will probably start with it. But this motion activated concept is intriguing!

We have never gone up when weird stuff is happening. That's the chicken part taking over I think. *

What would be the range of these motion detector web cams ? i.e distance from the lense it would pick anything up

And also the sensitivity would need to be checked...in the attic - pieces from the ceiling falling off etc...even in extreme sensitivity - dust particles might trigger it off if they are large enough.

Just somethings to think about

We just had a "reportable event".

We just arrived back home. I was the first one in the house and I set my purse down and headed straight upstairs to get the tape recorder out of the attic. Springer went straight to the kitchen and started doing something.

Needed info: Springer can't hear good. He has a hearing aid in one ear, and he has difficulty picking up higher frequency sounds. Bass sounds are okay though.

I spent about a 1 minute or so downstairs when we came home. Set my purse down and then told Springer I was about to go get the recorder. He asked if I needed him to get it for me. I said I thought I could get the attic door open. He said if I couldn't to let him know.

So I figure about a 1 minute or so on that exchange. The exchange took place while I was standing at the foot of the stairs, which is about 15 feet from the downstairs bathroom.

So when I finally wrestled the attic door open, retrieved the recorder and then had a heck of a time getting the attic door all stowed away, I placed the recorder in the computer room (upstairs) and headed back downstairs. When I got to the bottom of the stairs (where I had been standing before when Springer and I had the exchange) I heard an extremely audible sound of water flowing out of a faucet. It was a high flow. I look over at Springer who is doing something at the kitchen counter, and then turn toward the bathroom and realize it is coming from there....the bathroom sink is flowing at a very high rate. I ask Springer "did you turn the water on in the bathroom?" He replies "No, I've been in here the whole time." I say, "You didn't?" No, he confirms.

I walk over to the bathroom door, turn on the light, and the faucet is running. I call Springer over, "come look". And he walks over to see the faucet running. The faucet was on full blast, all the way to its full-open stop.

It had to have been "turned on" after we entered the house, because I would have heard it while downstairs before coming up to get the recorder. It was VERY audible to me.

Okay, I've reviewed the tape from last night. Most of the activations were either us making noise shortly after placing the recorder in the attic, or trains or big trucks that triggered the recorder. But there is one activation that is not explanable. It occurs approximately 16 seconds into this file. Before it you will hear activations due to Springer and I moving around just after placing the recorder. Then immediately after the activation in question you will hear it kick in due to a train whistle. But the one right before the train whistle is in question.

Thanks for the update. i listened and it was, under the circumstances you describe, spooky. i hd thought i'd be keen to live in a house such as yours where there were 'goings on', but realise if i feel strange just hearing your recording several thousand miles away from where i am, i wouldn't last a second there.

i do understand why you wouldn't want 'ghost hunters' until you were absolutely comfortable with having them in your home.

as ever, i look forward to the next episode.

In an attic your most likely going to need an infra red camera and at least one, if not more light sources, like we use in the sleep labs. I doubt that a motion activated one is going to be suitable for your purpose though (darkness, slightness of motion, etc).
