Texas will install a military base in the border city of Eagle Pass to curb the flow of illegal migrants allowed in by the Biden administration, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced at a press conference Friday.
The Texas Military Department is set to construct a Forward Operating Base on 80 acres of land along the Rio Grande that will house up to 1,800 Texas National Guard soldiers, with the ability to accommodate an additional 500, Abbottâs office stated.
Abbottâs administration explained that the base will be equipped to ârespond to the open border chaos created by the Biden Administration, complete with recreational, chaplaincy, medical and psychological health facilities.
âTexas is expanding our border security capabilities by building a new Texas Military Department base camp to increase and improve border security operations in this area,â Abbott said at the press conference. âThis will increase the ability for a larger number of Texas Military Department soldiers in Eagle Pass to operate more effectively and efficiently.â

This is in response to The Federal (on purpose?) "failures" at The Border that's been allowing hundreds of thousands of Migrants into the U.S.

Not true, it was the GOP that shot down the bi-partisan bill. Bi-partisan means it was supposed by individuals on both sides of the aisle, in addition to the Independent Sinema who asked helped create the bill.
So before you start throwing around fact, just remember it was the right who stopped this bill in it's tracks. Do I believe this bill was the permanent solution? No, but it was a good start and would have been a good start to resolving the issue.
But the right doesn't want the problem solved, do they? No because Trump told them to let the issue fester so he could play on in the upcoming election.
Deny ignorance folks.

Does anybody think all Biden has to do is declare a National Emergency and suspend all asylum claims for a period of time to get control of the problem? đ Oh that might actually work !!

Trump tried that. Feb. 15, 2019. He declared a national emergency to enable him to build his wall. His wall didn't work:
"One of former President Donald Trumpâs main presidential accomplishments was constructing hundreds of miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. President Joe Biden temporarily suspended work on some unfinished sections in January 2021, but is now plugging some âholesâ in Trumpâs wall and adding some other portions. He shouldnât bother. A few miles wonât fix what hundreds of miles already failed to. Itâs time to just admit: Trumpâs wall did not work."
...
"Almost the entirety of the Trump border wall was constructed after December 2018 when the Trump sections were just 31 miles. With 455 miles by January 2021, if the border wall deterred illegal crossings, the Border Patrol should have seen fewer illegal crossings and fewer successful illegal crossings. Indeed, the agency already claimed that the wall was âdeployedâ and âeffectiveâ in late October 2020 with about 170 miles still to be built.
...
"After a temporary lull in migration during the early part of the pandemic, that very month (October 2020) saw a significant jump in both known successful entries (what the Border Patrol calls âgotawaysâ), as well as arrests to levels as high as before the pandemic, and the numbers kept rising. Even before Biden assumed office, the Border Patrol was making more arrests and witnessing far more successful crossings after the wall went up than most months before the Trump wall."

Mexico didn't pay for it either. The US military did.

Too little too late, me thinks. Building a military base takes time, so while construction is in the planning/funding/building stage millions more will pour across the border.
Looks like psyop grandstanding to me.....
When our elected officials can't/don't/won't address such a serious issue until long after the horse has left the barn you have to wonder what they've been getting out of turning a blind eye for so many years. $$$$$?
