Ahem, from our resident self proclaimed "fact finder:"

You ever heard of the Constitution?

Ya might want to check that out about asylum seekers.

In another thread, I had to admit my mistake.

The Senate passed a 95 billion dollar bill on Sunday which left in all the foreign aid and stripped out the border.

The aid is their biggest concern anyways. The dems want the continuing mass flow of illegals and would love to see it stay exactly how it is now. Suing a state because feds want to cut the wire to allow easier entry access speaks volumes.

Yea, it's a platter full of freshly minted taxypayer money to send overseas.

You said this:

I’m missing the complaining part. Asking a reasonable question is now complaining? There’s that liberal logic again🙄

There is a backlog, because the law, as it stands, says anyone can claim asylum and once they do, they have a right to have their case adjudicated in an American immigration court, by an American immigration judge. The bill that the House Repubs rejected would have sped up the process and closed up most of those loopholes.

This is where your liberal logic fails once again.

We need few things tweaked with our immigration laws and then those laws need to be enforced. We don’t need more judges to process more people into the country like the democrats want. Everything about that bill sucked.

You seem very clueless about the type people that are coming into the country. We’re already seeing this with shootings, cops getting attacked and beat up, crimes are going way up, etc…. Saw another vid today of NYPD trying to make a arrest inside a immigrant shelter, looked like the whole place was close to turning on these cops. Gangs like MS-13 are probably the most brutal gang in the world, yet Biden invited them in too, not to mention the record number of terrorist that have come in under this administration. How the hell can you advocate and defend to have this # in your country?
Do you just not care?

It wasn't a bad bill. It gave the repubs everything they had asked for and "ran on" getting done.

Terrible bill and no it didn’t, not even close, gave dems what they wanted though. Since my (R) Senator was the main one pushing the bill. I for the first time in almost 30 years called his office and let him know what I thought about it, everyone in the state is pissed off at him, check his facebook 🤣. Yeah, bill was a joke, most people know it.
edit on 13-2-2024 by KrustyKrab because: (no reason given)

You didn't look at the senate bill did you? It does nothing to stop illegals from entering the country. What it does it make the process for deporting them much more confusing for border agents. As it introduces a new emergency measur but has no means to decide when it should be triggered. So some areas may have it in effect while others do not depending on the arbitrary number of crossings in a particular area. Then it makes it mandatory all asylum seekers get 6 months before being asked to return for asylum. Supposedly they will be given ankle monitors to insure they return. Problem is they will be removed and they are not going to have enough meaning eventually they will just be told to return for asylum hearing and hope they do so.

The only part I agree with is helping afghan refugees currently in the US as right now their status is undefined.

The Schumer-CIA mind weapon that made Mitch McConnell a zombie periodically, worked marvelously.

McConnell is now just as evil as Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer.

Bah. This is nothing more than political theater to get the Republican base fired up before election time. It's nothing more than, "Hey everyone look. We did a thing.". While they don't vote on anything and pull a bunch of stunts.

I’m so sick of the infighting. Isn’t there a country to run?

Maybe they should work together and find a compromise.

Republicans: "Seal the border. Control immigration."
Democrats: 'Open the border. Let everybody in."

how do we compromise on this?

there is a legal process for asylum. crossing the border illegally is not it.

You guys are so happy about letting these leeches en masse into the country, how many of them are you guys taking into your houses and supporting?

Must not be that bad of you guys are willing to let the status quo stand as it is now, until next year when you can get your guy sworn in.

and you feel it's OK to leave the border wide open until it's election season, then all of the sudden offer something that appears to help, but in reality keeps the border open in perpetuity? Please explain how that's (D)ifferent.

If you’re on US soil you can request asylum.

Even if you enter illegally.

That is a fact.

Funny how everyone was on board with it. Until Trump said no.

And let's be honest. Most of these bills are written poorly and unsustainable.

Nice try but not relevant.

I don’t run a nursery.
But you could take in adult illegals without any trouble.

Great. So the Republicans, in all their wisdom, decided that the border isn't that bad after all, since they say they would rather have everything stay as it is than same than pass that bill, at least until a little over a year from now, when they can pass it under Trump, should he win the election.

That's a lot of eggs in one basket! But, I guess it doesn't really matter. As long as Trump gets a win, who cares what happens at the border, or how many illegal immigrants permeate our society. It won't affect me at all.

Correct.
One MUST be on US soil in order to claim asylum. It doesn't matter how one got there.

Any more questions I can help you with?

Asylum isn't in there 😀
